Escort to the slave rebellion

Saret Neferti of the Veolian Commonwealth had planned a diplomatic mission to the Slave Rebellion and requested jedi escort. Ariana Danacia, Darones Rei and Shaedys were selected to escort the empress and protect her along the way.

The Jedi were tasked with arranging a ship for the mission. During the preparations, the padawan Khalash Shiaraz Azara-ka proposed to use a cruiser. Unfortunately, before such things could be arranged he had to leave the mission. His place was taken by Shaedys. Darones Rei met with a member of the empress' retinue to speak about the upcoming mission, and what the empress expected to gain from the diplomatic mission.

After some deliberation and speaking with Quartermaster Nishra, the jedi choose to retrofit a cargo ship with a new engine, armor plating and weapons. The ship would have enough space and would stay under the radar. The Padawan did not want to be raided by the Hutt or pirates and the cargo vessel, due to its older appearance, would present a less likely target as opposed to a cruiser.

After meeting with the Empress and her retinue in bay 8 there was some confusion about the ship and its interior, with Shandryss calling it ”...only fit for carrying cheap whores, and is an insult to the empress!” The matter was settled after the empress grabbed Shandryss by her throat to tell the slave that she will not speak to the Jedi in such a tone.

Eventually, after the Jedi arranged for a cook, the empress and her retinue boarded the ship.

They took off from Unity and took a quick stop on Praeto before they left Union controlled space and headed for sector 15 -10 where they were to meet with the delegation of the Slave Rebellion.

Close to the border in sector 15 -9 they were intercepted by the Slave Rebellion vessel Sacred Vendetta. Admiral Efy'arn, the commanding officer of the Sacred Vendetta, threathened to shoot the cargo vessel of it didn't leave. After the Jedi informed the admiral that they were escorting the Empress, he invited them to dock with the Sacred Vendetta.

After a short stay on the Vendetta, with the admiral speaking with the empress, they arrived at the prearranged planet. The Sacred Vendetta landed in a spaceport that only contained an honour guard.

Before the actual meeting with the diplomats, the Union delegation met with the governors of the planet. The meeting took a wrong turn when the subject of slaves came up. When the Empress was not willing to free the slaves she brought with her the Slave Rebellion soldiers aimed their rifles at the group and threatened to execute the “slavers”.

Instead of arresting the group or opening fire they decided to let the group go. The Jedi and the Empress returned to the cargo vessel docked inside the star destroyer. When they arrived there they found that the docking clamps prevented them from leaving.

A while later, the Jedi were contacted by Master Screetor who told them that he heard rumours that they were hostages and that there was talk of a ransom.

The Jedi discussed their options and eventually decided to contact Admiral Efy'arn of the star destroyer that they were on. He did not approve of the trading of people under any circumstances, but said he would help if the Jedi would do him a favor at a later moment. He said that he would send one of his best operatives to help them escape. They would escape under the cover of being captured by Hutt operatives, which was not unlikely since they already shot down a Hutt infiltrator vessel before they arrived. The Jedi agreed with the plan and waited for the operative.

Suddenly three operatives in black entered the ship and proceeded to attack the empress' bodyguards and kidnap the empress. A fight between the Jedi and the operatives ensued since the Jedi did not feel the operatives properly identify themselves as the operative of the Admiral. During the fight, the operatives appeared to have the upper hand.

After an attempt to rescue the Empress, Ariana was knocked out by the operative holding the Empress. After it looked like that the operatives were winning the fight they suddenly stopped fight and asked to follow them. The large operative said that this was the heroic escape and that they had no time to continue fighting.

A few moments later the ship that they were on broke itself free of the docking clamps, flew out of the star destroyer, and was brought in by a second ship with a tractor beam. The manoeuvre compromised the system integrity of the cargo vessel, putting it on the brink of total system failure. Luckily, they were pulled inside the other ship before leaving the atmosphere.

The operatives handed the Empress back to the Jedi and told them that it would be convenient if they stole the shuttle that was next to them in the hangar to escape. After discussing this they left and gave the group a chance to escape. The Jedi checked out the ship and found that it had no crew, but was fully fuelled and equipped with supplies. Though it wasn't large, they took their chance and left in the shuttle returning to Union space, leaving most of the empress' luggage behind in the now derelict cargo vessel.
