Within the Sundarian Federation, several of the key positions are held by wealthy investors like High Lord Yllia, which have been elected by democratic means. Although they have sworn to uphold the best interests of the Federation, some try to bend the rules a bit in favoring their own interests and companies. To prevent corruption and abuse of power and office, High Lord Yllia has, in collaboration with the Sundarian Senate, given a near endless mandate to an independent, civilian run, organization called CIC, known by the public as 'the inquisition'.
The Sundarian people consist of several smaller nations, much like the Union, which depend heavily on trade. As a result they have little interest for warfare, besides the part they need to protect their interests and trade routes. Since the people are relatively new to the existence of alien life, some factions of the Sundarian Senate are still a bit skittish and have not yet reached a full consensus about the new course High Lord Yllia has proposed for the Federation.
The Sundarian Federation, originally a very versatile and independent tribal society, have dedicated large amount of real estate to support the production of
and
in such a way that they are now the largest supplier of those goods within the Union. They rely heavily on the
import from the IO Protocol in order to maintain the production for trading partners throughout the Union.
In order to decrease the dependency on the import of
to support the ever increasing demand from trading partners, the Sundarain Government has sanctioned the construction of an Outpost to partially meet the demand by means of a limited production line. House Oronui has won the bid and founded the Oronui Outpost in cooperation with the Praetorian Empire, which also maintain an outpost in the same sector and provide the settlement with protection from pirates.
The conservatives party mainly consists of the Sundarian Nobility, whose agenda is to preserve the rights and claims granted to them in the past. This however does not mean that they mean to stand in the way of economic growth and further expansion of the Sundarian Influence throughout the Universe. As the time passes, the Conservative party grows more and more in favor of High Lord Yllia's administration since the first benefits for some of the more influential families have already been noticed.
When it comes to the internal politics of the Sundarian federation, the picture becomes rather different, since the Conservative Party would prefer to see a more stricter focus on security, law, policing and less funding for prestigious projects such as scholarship grants and free healthcare.
Though a small party within the Sundarian Parliament, the Environmentalists party has held a stable number of seats within the Senate. The current rule of High Lord Yllia, which has brought intergalatic politics and alien technology to Glasslyn, has strengthened their call for Enviromental and Ecological reforms, and as the Teraformation project on Luag nears her completion, the support for Evironmentalists seems to gain momentum.
While the cooperation between the Enviromentalists and High Lord Yllia's own Liberal party has been fruitful, more influence and concessions might be needed to maintain the balance of power in the future.
In order to prevent corruption and abuse of power and office, by any member of the Sundarian Parliament and to maintain the independence and integrity of the Sundarian Parliament, Senate and Government, the first laws enacted under the leadership of High Lord Yllia established the parameters and mandates for the formation of a civilian run, independant oversight committee, known as the Civil Integrity Committe (CIC).
More popularly called “The Inquisition”, the CIC is known for their rigorous methods and near endless mandate to pursue and investigate, at the limits of the law. Several politicians have tried to elude the CIC, or otherwise provide false or inaccurate statements to maintain their position of power, but so far none has managed to escape trial nor has any political group ever obtained a majority to change the mandate.
The Sundarian have adjusted to the violent thunderstorms that continuously plague Glasslyn and have turned it to their advantage. Not only did Sundarian Scientists and Engineers find ways to use these thunderstorms for the benefit of power generation, the constant storms have boosted the productions of ICT devices and Electronics that are more resistant to electrical surges to better serve this purpose and in order to protect the growing population from harm, the Sundarians gained an affinity for the production of shields and other Exotic Matter Devices.
These achievements have put a strange on the Sundarian population and government spending, that little funding was available for Interstellar research, its wasn't until after a few years under the rule of High Lord Yllia, who personally funded a large part of the Interstellar Research, that Sundarian Federation became a candidate member of the Union.

The Sundarian people consist of several smaller nations, much like the Union, which depend heavily on trade. The Sundarian Legal system has its basis in tradition rising from the nomadic history of the Sundarian people, and most tribes still maintain an extensive level of autonomy. However after the formation of the Federation, a judicial authority was founded together with a bill of rights and law, which would apply to all Sundarians.
Within the tribes, the authority to speak law and decide on claims, has been held by a council of elders. Usually consisting of the six eldest men and women of the tribe, the tribal council was responsible for the stability and peace with in the tribe. This included not only the settling of disputes, but also the approval of marital or trade contracts. After the formation of the Federation, an new level of authority was added, to supersede the rulings of the tribal councils, in matters that involved the Federation or all of its inhabitants.
In the early years of the Federation this authority was known as 'The Gathering of Elders', in which each of the tribes was represented. Nowadays the functions and tasks of the Gathering are placed within a separate institution under, but independent of, the Sundarian Council, known as the Court of Elders. It is the highest authority on law that exist with the Sundarian Federation, and its decision are final and binding.
Within the bill of rights and law, the basic rights for every born Sundarian citizen are secured. This entails varies rights and laws on property and inheritance, criminal behaviour and malpractice, illegality, education and healthcare etc.
Most notable within the bill of rights are the following:
The law stipulates that firstly all male descendance is applied; but if all agnates become extinct, then the closest heiress (such as a daughter) of the last male holder of the property inherits, and after her, her own male heirs according to the Salic order. Meaning the eldest daughter only inherits if she has no (surviving) brothers.
This law is one of several added to the bill of rights and law, during the preparations to join the Union. This Law and its articles ensure that Sundarian Law and legal customs are still applicable even if the citizen no longer lives and works within the Sundarian Federation, mainly ensuring the inheritance of property amongst the nobility and maintaining tribal or familial(paternal) authority.
The Sundarian Educational system has seen a lot of developments and is highly flexible, though over the course of the years two streams have formed.
The oldest tradition is the patronage schooling, which is currently favoured amongst the nobility or wealthier families, especially for their daughters and eldest son. Left over as one of the few remnants of the nomadic history of the Sundarian tribes, a patronage involves the placement of a child or children in the care of a other person outside the family, usually a befriended tribal leader or close friend with a position or profession that is considered as desirable for the child or children in question. Such a placement is usually preceded by extensive home schooling and is mostly based on prearranged contracts when the child is born, to ensure a good education once it is old enough, which may be as early as the age of 6. The patronage usually ends when the child comes of age and it returns to its family.
The second stream entails a schooling career through preschool into on of several institutions which provide courses and degrees on many subject and in various levels.
All Sundarians, wealthy or poor, receive the same basic education, which is provided free and for those who cannot pay for further schooling, a program of grants and corporate in-house traineeships exists which enable the possibility for every Sundarian to receive schooling based on their shown capabilities.
The Sundarian Federation houses a population of 6.40 billion. Nearly all of the population resides on Glasslyn, the homeworld of the Sundarian species. While most currently reside in cities and urban areas, there are still groups of Sundarian that prefer the Nomadic customs of the past.
The Guaire System also hosts three large firms that operate on an intergalatic scale:
The scientific interests of the Sundarian Federation are broad and funds several institutes that conduct research into various fields. Currently the focus seems to lay on improving the options concerning Surveying and Colonization as well as biological and infrastructural projects.
The Sundarian Federation has the following Technologies (aside from several licences):
The Sundarian Federation is home to a variety of noble houses ranging from small one-family houses to larger more influential families which play an active part in the legislation, be it out in the open or behind the scenes. Each house is granted several privileges and levies under law, largely dependent on the size of the estate and role in the History of the Sundarian Federation.
Most Noble houses contribute in some for to the Sundarian Community, either with service in the senate, regional government, army or as benefactor of institutes and individuals.
The Sundarian Nobility inherits via a so called adapted Semi-Salic law, which stipulates that firstly all male descendance is applied; but if all agnates become extinct, then the closest heiress (such as a daughter) of the last male holder of the property inherits, and after her, her own male heirs according to the Salic order. Meaning the eldest daughter only inherits if she has no (surviving) brothers.
Generally noble houses that have no male heirs will strife to marry their eldest daughter into another suitable noble house and thus effective merge their houses through marriage, as their lands and holdings are passed on via the daughter to her children; where noble houses with a secured succession through the male line generally leave more room to incorporate the wishes of their daughters, this may result in suitable marriage but it is not the only option.
House Lafrioye è Koniova is one of the eldest houses amongst the Sundarian Nobility and until recent a strong supporter of the Conservative Party. During a short period of unrest, resulting from discord amongst within the Council on the matter of Union Senate Security, and through developments in the political landscape, their allegiance as slightly shifted and they now support High Lord Yllia's reign whilest remaining a member of the Conservative Party.
Marquis Leandres Lafrioye è Koniova, known to be one of the strongest opposer's of High Lord Yllia's policies and eminent member of the Conservative Party, has been made Lord Chairman of the Economic oversight assembly and his son, Lord Leandres II Lafrioye, has been named director of the newly formed Quartz Mining & Research Corporation. His daughter, Lady Alexandra Koniova, serves as currently serves as a diplomatic aide for Lady Peinaili de Montrève and has many prospects for a successful diplomatic career.
The family is one of the major financial contributors behind the SimTech Cooperations and other companies within the Information based business. As these business grow and take up an ever larger share of the Sundarian GDP, so does the influence of the de Savony family.
The family is amongst the eldest noble houses that still exist to today and have done well for themselves of the course of the history. Even though their lands and holdings are prosperous and are well managed, their influence has somewhat degraded of the course of the years, as the present Duke rather spends his time working on his lands and estates, then meddle in political affairs and take up an active role in government.
The Obotanga tribe, one of the eldest and largest Nomadic tribes with the Sundarian federation. Normally the Obotanga tribe doesn't interfere with the Sundarian Politics, they have no representation in or dealings with the cabinet, nor are members of the tribe ever seen in the city.
The title King/Prince/Princess of the Obotanga is officially purely titular and holds no De Jure lands or vassals, but the Obotanga have used the title for many generations and the Sundarian have come to respect the legacy of the Obotanga Dynasty.
