A belt of asteroids circling around a star
[ System Creation, Gas Giants, Terrestrial Planets ]
Asteroid belts are composed of millions of rocks and it is not possible to settle on them. However, it is possible to build large space stations on asteroids and mine them. Asteroid Belts count as having six zones in which Metals can be mined. These cannot be upgraded and no other activities can be undertaken here. Asteroids cannot contain an atmosphere or an ocean and cannot gain them trough terraformation or other technologies. Asteroid Belts cannot have Focus.
Moons in asteroid belts have nothing to circle around - instead, these act as dwarf planets circling the central star within the Asteroid belt - they are not big enough to clear the neighbourhood of their orbit and are thus qualified as dwarf planets. This has no effects on the game.
