Taking advantage of the large scale of intergalactic trade, transport between different worlds can be made more efficient by centralising the trade between the worlds.

This technology enables the establishment of a Shipping Corporation. A Shipping Corporation is a type of corporation that specializes Open Market Zones. The of a specialised Open Market Zone is doubled. Unlike normal corporations, Open Market Zones specialised by a Shipping Corporation always generate +10 for the owner of the corporation, regardless of where they are.

Additionally, for each Open Market Zone specialised in another system, a trade route can set up between that system and the system that hosts the Corporation Headquarters of the Shipping Corporation. The trade route need not be established immediately upon completion of the specialisation of the Open Market Zone.

A trade route requires the assignment of a trade fleet for each side of the route (that is one from the HQ system to the outside system, and one from the outside system to the HQ system). A trade route's transported goods and amounts are determined at the creation of the trade route, and can not be changed. As long as the trade fleet is assigned to the trade route, its capacity is doubled but it can not transport anything other than the goods determined at the creation of the route.

To change the goods and amounts transported by a trade route, the Open Market Zone must be re-specialised. This allows a new trade route to be set up in place of the old one.

Either party can cancel a trade route. This results in the specialisation being removed from the Open Market Zone that is not in the system hosting the corporation Headquarters.

The trade route only exists as long as the Corporate HQ is correctly placed. If the Corporate HQ is moved, and a trade would be illegal to set up with the Corporate HQ's new location, that trade route is cancelled.
