Terrestrial planets are planets made of rocky materials. During System Creation planets use up
.
There are three types of Terrestrial Planets: Small Planets, Medium Planets and Large Planets. Additionally, Asteroid Belts are treated as planets, though they have various limitations.
Planets (and Asteroid Belts) use one orbit (either
,
or
) each, with the exception of the Large Planet which uses two of the same type.
The cost, zones and lunar orbits of each planet type are listed below:
| Planet Type | Cost | Lunar Orbits | Zones | Zone Restriction | |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Medium Planet | 19 | 2 | 19 | none | |
| Asteroid Belt | 3 | 4 | 6 | ||
| Small Planet | 7 | 4 | 7 | none | |
| Large Planet | 37 | 2 | 37 | none |
* A Large Planet takes up two orbits both of which must be of the same temperature.
A Small Planet with a Large Moon is automatically considered a double planet. Additionally, a Small Planet with a Medium Moon or a Medium Planet with a Large Moon may be classified as a double planet at the choice of the player. This has no effect on the game.
