Storyteller

Storytellers are people who want to help out with running the game. Anyone can be a storyteller and it is up to you whether you want to take the time to help out. However, there are a lot of aspects to Storytelling, and not everyone feels qualified for all those things, or wants to put in the time required for some of the jobs.

The current storytellers are (listed with name and competences):

Next to the listed competencies, some of the STs have taken up a specific duty. These are listed below:

Storytelling

Storytelling is best done according to the following guidelines:

  1. Don't judge yourself - i.e. don't approve your own turn report, run a story with your own PC as a player or sanction a technology you designed yourself
  2. Check with others - We have a very collaborative game, and we'd like to keep doing this together.
  3. Don't forget to have fun - Fwurg isn't a job ^_^ Its for fun.

Becoming a storyteller is very easy, just update this page to reflect your storyteller interests with the competences below (or make up your own if nothing matches, we can always polish it later). That's it!

Competences

The competences have a single purpose: to indicate which areas you feel confident in. They are not a measure of importance.

We have left out the 'requires a working knowledge of the relevant rules' line, as we assume that anyone who feels qualified has a working knowledge of the relevant rules.

We encourage asking for a second opinion if you're not absolutely sure of something. Two pairs of eyes spot more than one!

Jedi Story Teller Runs a jedi (or other) story. Might include running combat, determining difficulties and general knowledge of the RP system. Story tellers are responsible for running an unbiased story, and might contact other STs for OOC-only information with regards to the current going-ons.
Bureaucrat Updates union data on the wiki. This includes keeping the fringe/inner/core world statusses up to date, but also pertains to the posting of laws that have been voted in.
Turn Auditor You feel qualified to check turn reports. This includes checking weird trades (such as corporation income) and validating subsidy entries. Turn auditors are responsible for dividing up the work by mutual agreement.
System Auditor You feel qualified to check proposed systems. This might include some economy and special balancing as well.
Jedi Auditor You feel qualified to check proposed Jedi. This might include some jedi balancing as well.
Race Auditor You feel qualified to check proposed races. This might include some economy, jedi and special balancing as well.
Jedi Balancing You feel qualified to judge proposed Jedi rule changes or additions. This includes Combat Styles, Force Powers, racial characteristics (at least the Jedi part of those) and equipment proposals.
Economy Balancing You feel qualified to judge economic rules changes or additions. This includes new Climates, racial characteristics, specials, and other economic factors.
Technology Balancing You feel qualified to judge new technologies. Depending on the type of technology, this might entail other qualifications as well; so don't hesitate to ask for a second opinion.

Story Types

There are various types of stories that you can run:

Economic Events

If you run an economic event, it is generally wise to check this with other storytellers to ensure the game balance is not upset and no players are unfairly advantaged or disadvantaged. Events that give no more than a 500 advantage or penalty to a specific player or that do not post a collective cost or benefit (to be distributed over all participants / players) more than 2500 can usually be ran without such a check-up.

When handing out (or taking away) special goods, products, or raw materials, please calculate special goods at a value of 5 each, products at a value of 0.75 each and raw materials at a value of 0.375 each. Thus, if you give out 1000 to a player as part of an economic event, this would be within the limits as 1000 is 375 which is less than 500.
