Combat

[ Guides ]

This guide walks you through combat.

Wandering around in the vast universe of Fwurg your Jedi is bound to run into individuals who wish to do them physical harm. This guide will go into this and explain how to fight off these treats and walk away victorious!

When you engage in combat you list your offensive and defensive stats to attack and defend against an enemy. These stats can be increased by taking combat actions. When you build up enough advantage to beat the enemy on his defensive rings you win the battle.

Calculating your stats

Example Aayla Secura:

She is a Jedi padawan and has Force level 5.

She has Shii-Cho (Form I: a generic style that all jedi train in) and Ataru (Form IV: an offensive style).

She has a blue regular blade with regular hilt.

Combat evolves around stats you have as a Jedi. There is a simple calculation to use for every move you wish to make. This check is based on your force level, the fighting style you wish to use and the lightsaber(s) your fighting with.

Posting an attack

While your round plays our and you need to make a post an offensive and defensive attack must be stated on every round. We are going to use the example and the simple formula to defeat the evil-doers!

In the example we can see our Jedi has a force level of 5 and uses shii-cho with a normal lightsaber. On your character sheet you can look up these numbers associated with these stats.

Example:Listing your attack and defence Attack with Shii-Cho , 7, 9 , 6 Defence Shii-Cho, 8, 9, 7))

The red blocks show the offensive and defence stats needed for our post. the numbers for Slashing, cutting and piercing are attacks made on the three defence rings of the enemy. so we do Force level + slashing of the fighting style + slashing of the lightsaber as a attack on the outer ring, and the same for the other rings. for defensive stats we take the lower row of numbers in the same way. an attack will look like this

Congratulations! you just made an attack. When the attack stats of a player are higher on all rings of the defensive player then that player is defeated. when only two of the three rings are beaten then the defensive player is struck and made off balance.

Action types

Of course a combat does not exist purely of two people whacking each other with a lightsaber. There's running and jumping off walls and many environmental situations a player can use in his advantage.

Making a check

These advantages can be listed by the player to receive a bonus on his stats. A player can make one check each turn to clain a certain type of advantage.

To get this advantage a player needs to do the following

Example: Making a check

I jump up to the ledge and strike the enemy from above!

[check]5 Force Level + 3 Fitness + 1 Force Jump[total]9[notes] to jump up on the ledge for an offensive advantage action [/check]

Meaning the 7, 9, 6, will turn into 8, 10 , 7 in the next round

Above we can see the Make check box highlighted. Let's say we want to jump on a ledge or pillar to gain a highground advantage on the enemy.

First we have to consider what kind of check this is. Since we are going to jump we know that we can use the Force Jump listed under force powers. And every check a player makes we count in the force power just like we do in an our offensive and defensive stats. Since this involves physical movement we can use fitness to boost up our check.

When you click these buttons your check will look the example

Keep in mind to use the note block in the check to explain what you want to achieve with your check!

Now that we explained our intentions with this check it is up to the Storyteller to determine if your check succeeds. When it succeeds this advantage action shall go into effect in the next round and will result in a +1 on all your offensive rings.

Listing your combat stats

With every post you should combine everything into a OCC block so there is a central place where people can look at your stats. you put your attack and defensive stats in here and list all advantages you currently have,

In this example our OOC block would look like this

[ooc] old high ground advantage, +1 on offensive
Attack with Shii-Cho , (:outer-attack) 8, (:middle-attack) 10 , (:inner-attack) 7
Defence Shii-Cho, (:outer-defence)8, (:middle-defence) 9, (:inner-defence) 7[/ooc]

which on the forum looks like this

( (OOC:old high ground advantage, +1 on offensive Attack with Shii-Cho , 8, 10 , 7 Defence Shii-Cho, 8, 9, 7) )
