A Force Sensitive is an individual who is particularly in tune with the Force. They often have access to one or more supernatural powers which may manifest as simply being unexpectedly good at something without effort or as complicated as producing visible emanations of energy.

Besides the Jedi, various other organisations deal with Force Sensitives, offering training and the likes. Jedi are amongst the most recognised Force Sensitives out there, due to their extreme skills in using the Force compared to these other groups.

There may be a genetic component to being Force Sensitive, and statistics support this, but there is no scientific evidence for this link, nor is there any known cause for Force Sensitivity.

On Union worlds, as a general rule being Force Sensitive is perfectly legal and most worlds have laws forbidding registration or similar methods for law enforcement purposes as well as laws forbidding discrimination of Force Sensitive individuals.

However, in the past, discrimination against Force Sensitive has been common on some worlds. In an effort to control them, registration laws were passed and Force Sensitive individuals accused of crimes were locked up in special cells with features such a stroboscopic lighting the use of Anti-Force Collars which gave irregular electroshocks. Various drugs were also used.

These extreme methods were used in a mistaken belief that this would prevent the Force Sensitive from using their “mystical powers” to escape. It has since been established that these methods not only constitute torture, but are largely ineffective.

Another form of discrimination on some worlds is the outlawing of using the Force rather than being Force Sensitive. Though Force Powers can be used in illegal ways, most effects such as force lightning, mind control and force push have technological equivalents that may be just as dangerous if not more so. As a result, laws against these are more easily enforced when they cover the act itself rather than the method employed, as the burden of proving that the Force rather than an unknown technology was responsible will be great indeed. Additionally, such laws risk witch hunts against individuals who by chance happened to be in the neighbourhood of unexpected occurrences.

With the combined cruelty and ineffectiveness of many of these policies, Union cultures generally looks upon laws specifically targeting Force Sensitive individuals as both barbaric and idiotic.
