Survey Fleets

In order to do any Surveying, you need to have a Survey Fleet. A survey fleet can be re-used after each scan. Constructing a survey fleet costs 100 and 400 . Additionally, a Survey Fleet takes up a fleet slot like regular Trade Fleets.

When engaged in combat by a military fleet a Survey fleet automatically loses. Survey fleets are not meant for combat.

Movement

A survey fleet can move 2.0 per . This amount is affected by hyperspace lanes in the same way a trade fleet is affected (rounded down). This means that a fleet can move a single per turn, if there are not hyperspace lanes or other factors.

For example: if you have a survey fleet on the bozzy spine, it could move up to 19 (not counting its starting sector) sectors in a single turn, as the bozzy spine has a trade factor of 0.1 (make sure that you have the permission of a faction to use their private hyperspace lane!)

Ugrades

A survey fleet can only be upgraded while it is inactive and in the same sector as its supporting zone. It must remain inactive and in the same sector for the duration of the upgrade. If the fleet leaves the sector for any reason, the resources spent on the upgrade are lost.
