This information derived from the Lightsabers page. We view these as guidelines, as there are issues with saberstaffs, for one. I.e. Pick a (Long handle + short dual blades) staff, and turn off one of the blades → instant (long hanlde + short blade). We think that a staff with one blade turned off is still a staff (offering a very large handle, compared to the blade)
