“Miss de Beyza we are willing to grant it, but you need to deserve it. You now have a very good life. Do you want to be poor and start with nothing?”

Corinna's expression was still one of confusion.

"I came here, and asked you for asylum. I underwent your examination, but instead of telling me yes or no, you answer me with more questions. What do I have to do to deserve it, according to your laws?"

“Miss de Beyza I am asking more question as it is not clear as to why you would need help. So if you would please answer them.

You have a luxurious life and do not have to worry about any material problems. Granting you asylum would make you poor and you would have nothing. That does not seem like helping you as you would be worse off.

According to the law we need to offer you a better place and it looks like we unfortunately cannot do that. So that is why I ask why you thinks this is a better option than staying with Lord Tahara.”

"I will be better off because I won't be sold to someone who will just use me as a pretty face to watch dance and to bed when it pleases them!"

Corinna reacted very sharply.

"Of course, if you can somehow convince Lord Tahara not to sell me that would be much better than having nothing. But having nothing is preferable over being a living piece of art."

She sat down, and sagged as her façade of control broke down in tears.

"Besides, if I stay here much longer, I will have no other options..."

"In a day or so, Lord Tahara will start wondering why I am not reacting to any holocalls or mails, and I'll have no good explanation. I'll be reduced to a beggar, thrown out of my own estate, sold into slavery to cover my debts and finally I'll end up with nothing, a failure in life."

She sobbed, and her slurred speech was difficult to understand.

"Please, just help me or tell me to go away. Don't ask these difficult questions that I don't know the answers to."

She looked at counsellor T'Kara with a bleak expression.

"Please, can't you write a letter to lord Tahara to explain where I was, maybe he won't sell me if you explain why I am here?", she sounded rather desperate, as if she thought that this was her last hope.

Counsellor T'Kara is glad that miss de Beyza is finally showing some real emotions.

“Miss de Beyza it is not good to crop up all your feelings. Reason is good, but decisions are not only based on logic. Feelings play an important role in our life. It is what makes us happy or sad.

You do not have to act strong here miss. Let your emotions go. ”

Counsellor T'Kara smiles at her. She waits a time to give miss de Beyza to let her emotion go and she calms done.

“We need to see those feeling as those also involve our decision. Your sincere emotions have swayed my heart as to grant you a new start.”

" While we will process the data-work, you can stay here in the embassy and follow a assimilation course. We will then arrange transportation to the My'enru system and you can start you new life there. We will give you free food, shelter and pocket money for a few months, after that you are on your own. But for that we would like to know if you have any preference on which planet you would like to life."

"I think that Erau would fit well. The climate isn't as extreme as on Hio, and there are development opportunities, which in turn means that there are jobs available."
