[Dhiahamara]Shadow of War's meeting with Trigiel <Private>
((OOC: Related to this page))
The hotels on the island contained thousands of interested teprogrena, eager to met Shadow of War. But before the majority of the crowd would flow to him, Trigiel was able to had a talk with the traveller. Being a full cyborg himself, Trigiel was interested in how Shadow of War experienced being a 20 kilometre long cyborg. As a jedi, he had the privilege of talking to Shadow of War alone, he was only acompanied by a small camera crew who wanted to record their meeting for other people to see within the Consensus, the crew did not interfere though. The padawan and stepped on the plateau which brought him a couple of hundreds meter closer to Shadow of War.
"Avé," the jedi greeted, together with a typical bow. "I would say 'it is a pleasure to meet you', but you probably have already heard that already a hundred times.
What a marvellous body you have arranged for yourself."

Shadow knew someone important when he saw one.
"Thank you, are you perhaps the jedi Fecta Trigiel?"
"Thank you, are you perhaps the jedi Fecta Trigiel?"
"Yes I am indeed. When I heard you came to our world, I had to take the chance to speak with you. You see, I am very interested in how you experience the world as a star ship."
"It's..." Shadow paused a moment. "Different."
"I can't even begin to explain how. Though I did recently notice being a Traveller has changed me in more ways than I anticipated when I first became a Traveller."
"I can't even begin to explain how. Though I did recently notice being a Traveller has changed me in more ways than I anticipated when I first became a Traveller."
"Although I cannot imagine how it is, I can imagine it changes your perspectives on life. It did with me any ways. Being a cyborg and all. Since I became the way I am, I'm never been afraid any more of loosing my head. And yet, sometimes I miss the ability to feel.
But how do you handle such a large body? I mean, you can certainly not handle all the cannons yourself now can you?"
But how do you handle such a large body? I mean, you can certainly not handle all the cannons yourself now can you?"
"You lack the ability to feel?" Shadow asked clearly surprised. "Certainly you have more than just optical and audio sensors inside your body? I know Astrian cybernetics have a wide range of sensors, all connected to the appropriate area in their brain. Even pain has it's sensor though that goes through a buffer to establish the intensity, if it's to high its weakened or completely cut off and the person is made aware of the damage."
"Handling cannons is easy, try entering hyperspace while flying past a ship that's barely a metre outside your shields. One slip up and your acceleration alone is enough to turn them into dust cloud. Luckily I have various systems that allow me to multi-task, though I usually let the computers handle my point defence turrets. But I do handle almost everything myself, including targeting my plasma cannons on multiple targets."

"I do have appropriate haptic sensors, but it is far from close to a real skin," Trigiel knocked on his dura steel chest, "This is massive durasteel. I can have all kinds of beating or touches without feeling anything. Skin have feeling on every millimeter, durasteel doesn't. I don't believe you have feeling on every square millimeter of your body as well.
Flying is easy. Although I haven't ever flew a destroyer before. The largest I have flown is a cruiser of 300 meter. Which wasn't that much harder than a fighter. But why would you ever enter hyperspace past a ship one meter outside your shields? You almost literally have all the space in space."

"I take it your used to flying state of the art ships, with computer aided control systems, powerful external inertia dampeners and gravitational compensation?" Shadow asked.
"And space is a lot more crowded then you seem to think. Most inhabited starsytems average over 500.000 ships flying around at any given point in time. By my count most Union member worlds have double that amount, if not triple. Then you have space stations and no fly zones.
A lot of worlds have special areas designated for jumping on an outbound vector. Those areas are only so big and when it's a busy day they fill up fast when you have my size. It doesn't help when people try to dock despite your refusal and warnings."

"You and others better not try that here. I am just a very good pilot, I think that I would be able to safely navigate a cargo freighter made out of duct-tape and no cockpit through hyperspace, but I'm not going to try that.
Most other people cannot even fly in a straight line, let alone reverse space parking or merge in a hyperspace lane decently. If someone would try to enter hyperspace merely meters next to someone else in Teprogrenaian space, we will arrest him or her and confiscate the ship. The same goes for you, don't even think of flying within the prescripted safety area of another ship." Trigiel sounded serious, not that the Consensus had a ship large enough to stop Shadow of War...

"I won't do anything stupid if your people don't and in my defence, it was either jump or create a feedback loop and overload my hyperdrives. I doubt I have to tell you that can wipe a system clean of the star charts."
"And that is the reason you need the appropriate licence to fly a ship plus an additional licence to fly through hyperspace in the ACA. I normally don't brag but I have a level eleven piloting and hyperspace licence. A human can count the amount of people that have that on two hands."

"You can brag all the way you want, you will never beat my skills. If it has an engine, I can fly it, both through hyperspace and normal space.
Although I am interested in how you are able to observe the entire surrounding of your ship, or is that automated as well?"

"There's a difference between piloting skill and being able to fly different kinds of ships.
Like I said earlier, I do almost everything myself. That includes monitoring my surroundings, though I'm not at liberty to say how."

"Not for me there isn't, piloting a fighter or a cruiser or a freighter, all the same to me. Though I prefer nimble and fast fighters. If you do not believe me, maybe we should do a competition once, I would enjoy too see how you handle your body." Trigiel said in response to the first remark of Shadow of War, then he continued: "The astrian mind is truly incredible. A Teprogrenaian mind can only handle so much more input than the natural input. When receiving to much information it just shuts down to protect itself.
But you are not at liberty to say how you monitor your surrounding? Are you saying that you just receive your information trough something more advanced than a camera, but does not know how?"

"You're on. Just don't go crying when you lose." Shadow usually avoided confrontation, but he never backed away from a challenge.
"Keep in mind I'm not a regular Astrian." He replied to Trigiels second comment. "I've had years of training and decades of experience, while most Astrians can multi-task much better than humans, Travellers are on a completely different level.
The method I use to monitor my surroundings is a Traveller secret. If I didn't know any better I would almost think you where trying to insult me by suggesting I don't know how my own body works."

"I am not trying to insult you, though I would be rather disappointed if you didn't know how your body works.
If I may ask, who maintains your body? Twenty kilometer is insanely large to maintain all by yourself."

"Maintenance drones of course. Automated for the most part, I keep most of my body in a sterile vacuum. I do sometimes take control of a drone for when it's needed.
Overall my current hull is rather new, so maintenance is not that big of a deal right now. I'm sure you know that, apart from complete overhauls, most maintenance can be done during flight."

"I was wondering, why did you choose to become a star ship instead of buying a starship? "
"That is a very personal question, Fecta Trigiel. One that I will not answer and certainly not while being recorded.
I know you have no ill intention, but on Stellaria it is considered very rude to ask why someone takes cybernetics."

"I didn't knew that. But on Stellaria everybody has cybernetics, why would anybody hide their reason for cybernetics?
Well, in the case that I cannot ask why an astrian has cybernetics, may I ask why it is rude to ask why someone has cybernetics?"
Well, in the case that I cannot ask why an astrian has cybernetics, may I ask why it is rude to ask why someone has cybernetics?"
"It's considered private, not something a stranger should poke their nose into. It also helps to prevent conflict.
Take, for example, a person who loses an arm in an accident and gets a cybernetic one to replace it. While another person has their arm removed because they want a cybernetic one. The former didn't have a choice while the other did. Neither has done anything wrong, but it can still lead to resentment."

"Ah, but on the risk stretching the issue: Having a cybernetic arm, and a cybernetic space ship is a big difference. So the only reason you have for being a space ship rather than having a space ship must be personal, and not because you are forced due to loss of body function.
You are not going to make be believe that you, or any Astrian is born a space ship." The lower middle head flaps of Trigiel flaunted a little in a happy smiling way.
"The only resentment people would have against you is because you have the money to buy the biggest known space ship in the Union all by yourself, and having or being a space ship isn't making any difference there.
What leaves is either hat other people judges your choice of life, which makes them wrong. Or that you are forced into the position you are currently in, and that you are ashamed of being helpless, in which case: Need help?"

"Like I already said, the question is personal that makes the answer personal too. I, just like every other Traveller, was born a normal Astrian. But who says I wasn't a full cyborg before I became a Traveller?
I have been a Traveller for over fifty years and I have yet to regret that decision even once. Most Astrians admire the Travellers. I would rather not dwell on this subject. May I ask what it is like to be a Jedi? As far as your allowed to tell me, of course."

"It is both wonderful and terrible. Having a strong connection with the force allows me to do things most beings only can dream of. However, to do this requires extensive training which costs a lot of time. Aside this, I get a lot responsibilities with my duties as jedi. The worst is that we are responsible for the senate security. It is important work, but often very boring.
I think the hardest part is that because I really can make a difference, I realise that I'm just one man and that the galaxy is immense. Everybody expects our... my help as jedi, but I can only do so much. Being powerful sometimes make me feel so powerless."

"I think I know the feeling. My current hull is fairly new and my old one was a lot smaller.
A short while before I decided to upgrade I was just flying around my people's sector when I received a distress call from a small planet in the sector. The population was infected by a virus, a fairly common cold actually. But this race had no resistance to it, making it very deadly.
I responded to their distress call and went down to help. Unfortunately their physiology made normal treatment impossible. I was only able to save a few thousand people out of 200.000. That was when I decided I needed a bigger hull."

"I believe that no matter how strong or rich you are, no matter how much influence you have, the killer factor is always time. I can earn money that I can use, or do my best to save the galaxy by personally intervene, but I always have the feeling that I am running out of time. That I cannot do both." Trigiels lower head flaps started to hang a little in a sad way. "Luckily as long I don't need a personal army, money is of little concern as the Jedi order covers most of that, allowing me to focus on my personal efforts."
