Senator Harek listens carefully to what the empress has to say. It seems that Tayu Shanora has great skills as only non-hemet receiving this title. The Veolians are quite active in politics and senator Harek is pleased to hear that they are interested in cooperating.
“The last elections were our first time to vote for chancellor and it was a hard decision. Senator Achetoo is for peace and cooperation and expansion, but just growth is not a goal by itself as she seemed to forget other aspects involved. Bol’var seemed more driven and gave good arguments upon our questions, but his pure focus on warfare was not quite to our liking. So we were thinking of abstaining, but Senator Nehket Aeka convinced us to support him in exchange for improving the position of minor world as to make the Union members equally important so all can contribute to improve the Union.
Alas, like you say your imperial highness, Chancellor Bol’var has some trouble to perform his task as he is late and there is still no subsidy for military technology. He is clearly not up to the task of Chancellor and minister of finance. I would welcome some stability. The Union seems to have some internal problems as the senate attack showed. Unfortunately, there is no minister of Interior affairs so I hope the chancellor can keep things together and promote more cultural exchange as to create understanding and respect for each other.

"We think it best to have a known face as chancellor, so Lady Nehket Aeka will be the Veolian candidate."

With the recent defacing of the senate hall, and the current trend in leadership the Union will be better off with a punctual chancellor that looks towards the bigger picture. Let us first make sure that we are comfortable with our own form of government before we tackle other problems.
As the threat of attack from other superpowers like the Mandalorian fleets or the Hutt Families is realistic, we will find a way to strengthen the military of the Union without appearing to be preparing for an offensive. Of course, we hope to find a peaceful solution, but we have no illusion that all conflicts can be resolved through talk.
We want to promote cooperation, both for the Union as a whole, as for smaller groups of Union members. To this end we will look into the possibility of terraforming Unity as a symbol of cooperation and technological might."

"The Hiocan society would also like to find peaceful solutions by discussing matter, but other factions do not always want to cooperated or listen to reason. In our first wars we were always on the defending side. The attacks were negates mostly, but even with great losses some would not want to go away, so we became more aggressive and forcefully removed them. Since then we always have an excellent army to discourage attacking us. But I am indeed afraid that will not be enough to stop a Mandalorian fleet.

The empress laughed a subtle laugh, "I must say, that senator Afra agrees might not bode well for lady Nehket. It has been my observation that senator Afra is most volatile, and that her opinions are founded only on her emotions instead of logic and rationale."

“I might do that some time. I heard the Veolians are quite good in terraformation. And knowing what the possibilities are could be quite interesting.”
All this time miss T’Ralesh has been quietly sitting and listening to the empress and senator talk. They had been talking for quite some time and she looks onto her watch. She grabs something in her bag.
“I’m sorry to interrupt your talk, but senator Harek it is about time for your medication.” And she hands over some kind of injection equipment.
Senator Harek takes the devices and put it against his arms under his robes.
“I’m sorry your imperial highness, but after two centuries I am getting old. But you still seem to be in your prime after almost a millennium. Each race sure has its own characteristics and its pros and cons. It is not important how long you life, but what you do with it. I need to go on as I want to see the Union grow and make this part of the galaxy peaceful and prosperous. Does your imperial highness have any goals to accomplish?”
Senator Harek seems to be getting sentimental. After his wife had dead, he had come into a slob but his job as senator seems to give him some new motivation and the strength to continue.

The empress was a bit surprised by the sudden question of the Hiocan senator. She debated whether she should sugar-coat her opinion. After a moment, she decided that as the Hiocan senator was honest with her with regards to his opinion on slavery, she should afford him the same courtesy.
"The usual", she replied with a serious voice, "Hundreds of grandchildren, utter domination of known space and the pleasure of hearing that all of my enemies have died in terrible, highly improbable accidents that cannot be connected to me."

Senator Harek starts smiling as he hears the empress reply. “Sounds like a good goal only reality is not always that kind.” The senator takes a pause and returns the tool back to his secretary. “I think we are getting to an end. Does your imperial highness still have any questions.”

When the Hiocan senator arrived on the ground floor, a well-dressed twi'lek woman was waiting for him outside the elevator, her face half obscured by a delicate fan, which she closed with a snap of her wrist when she saw the senator.

“Yes, Tayu Shanora. It seems that there are quite some differences cultural and due that I have caused you some grieve. Within the Hiocan Society slavery is forbidden as everyone has a free will. The Veolian culture has slavery but the concept of slave various much with what most cultures like the Hutt have. In the Veolian culture you have respect and the other they don’t. This lack of respect is mostly shown by that the person is regarded as a tool and not treated in a humane way. This does not agree with the Hiocan values of respect and equality and that is why I asked not to be served by slaves as not to endanger our diplomatic relation.”

Senator Harek bows back and take his goodbyes. Together with his secretary he walks to the exit. They check out at the entrance and go outside. The hovercar is waiting out for them and they step in and leave.
