Most of the guest seemed to be a little drowsy after the presentation and rather reluctant to ask question to the senator. A young Hiocan scientist is about to ask a question, but before he can raise his hand his colleagues stops him and instead start to give an applause as to thank the senator and get this presentation over with. More presentations follow later this day, but all good things have to come to an end. The sun sets and the second conference day is over.

The third day starts and the sun is shining as hot as ever. Luckily it is cool in the conference center. There are a lot of Hiocans today in the biology center. Professor V'Nos is giving a presentation about “The origin of the Hiocan race, Erau!” He studies various ancient ruins over a long time and they have made some big discoveries there.

The presentation room is quite large, but all chairs are quickly filled. Professor V’nos, a tall thin elderly man with short white hair wearing beige robes, stands on a stage with a big holoscreen behind him. An image of the archeological site he is working is shown. Under the rocks and mud you can see the structure of advanced technological buildings and sample boxes.

“Welcome ladies and gentleman to my presentation “The origin of the Hiocan race, Erau!”. First, I will give a short introduction on the subject then follows the findings of our research and finally the conclusion.

Our earliest records of the Hiocan race are about 4 thousand years old on Hio, which is just after the times of Choas. But our newest findings in ancient ruins on Erau show that the Hiocan race existed before the time of Choas and was highly developed. This throws over aboard all our current believes of our origin. The Hiocan counsel has set up a big archeological and biological project to investigate this. With new technological developments the analyzes possibilities have improved a hundred of times in the past fifty years and now thousands of years old samples can be investigated.

The My’enru system consist of three goldilocks orbit planet; Hio, Erau and Ah’rak. Various expeditions where send to all tree planets to take biological samples and these show that before the time of Choas there was life on all three planets. During the times of Chaos all planets have been attacked and destroyed more or less. The ecosystems of all three planets have been heavily influenced by this, as Ah’rak now shows no sign of life. So the question of the origin and evolution of the Hiocan race is not easily answered.”

The images on the holoscreen show the evolution of the Hiocan race from small scale organisms to big mammals.

“It started 6 billion years ago when the My’enru system was created. Then evolution starts from single cellar organism to small mammals. Fossil of this have been found on Hio very deep under its hard rocks that can confirm these stages. On Erau and Ah’rak mainly plant fossil have been found and other life forms. So this confirms the idea that animal life originates from Hio. He small mammal stage the evolution ways split. At The Hiocan race comes from the Eca noidas, a mammals which was a herbivore with fur and strong arms with claws to climb.

Then starts the mystery, some period 12 million years ago a strange natural phenomena seem to happened. The biological systems for some unknown reason of the three planets seem to have been mixed up as whole areas of a few miles have been teleported. A lot is still unknown about this period. But this effected natural life and climates of the planets. Now the Eca noidas live on all three planets and they evolve in different ways. On Ah’rak are big plants and trees and the Eca noidas become good climbers and they herbivorous. On Hio the volcanic activity was increased and toxic gasses filled the atmosphere destroying life. On Erau it can be seen from these fossils we found their food pattern change to sharper teeth. The Eca noidas needs to defend themselves with their claws and use them to kill instead of cutting plants. We will focus now on the new Erau eca paeidas as the other life forms were destroyed.

The eca paeidas became the good hunters and they diet now included also small reptiles and mammals, eggs and fruits. As now there is more food to be found on the ground their legs start develop further so they can walk and jump further. These reconstructions found of bones show the various stages.”

On the holoscreen the bones and the reconstructions are shown. Professor V’Nos talks in details about the evolution about the species. The development of various characteristics and rise and fall of them are shortly pointed out. The eca paeidas becomes the eraucan laosos.

“The eraucan laosos become hunters and collectors. From that point on, they development not much in much in a biological way, but in a technological ways. Over a course of a thousand decades they became a highly development race crossing the galaxy. But as everybody knows the times of Chaos have changed a lot. Ah’rak has been completely destroyed, many lives where lost on Erau and only a small group on Eraucan seems to have escaped hiding on Hio.

So it can be concluded that animal life as a whole originates from Hio. But due to mysterious natural phenomena the animals where teleported to the other planets. The Eca noidas evolved on Erau to our species the Hiocan, so there lays our origin.”

"The question of the transfer various species from Hio to the other two planets has not been answered. There are many theories that include that there was some kind of mass migration or natural life technique used by some ancient Race or even that a Force storm caused it. But this only generates more question of which we currently do not have any answer to."

After Chancellor Acehtoo has spoken her appreciation the rest of the rooms follows in applause.

The day comes to and end after many more presentations and other activities. The conference is now half-way and you can see that the various groups of people have started to mingled.

In the great central presentation valley the shadows become longer as the conference is slowly getting to an end. The last presentation of this internal day is by the High Chiefdom of Skuldda with their presentation of “Skulddarian motor engineering”. This will probably be a roaring ending.

“Good day. As you might all aware of, or at least I hope so, I am going to tell you the ins and outs of the Skulddarian Turborock scramjet engine technology. The same one senator Lonco Moribixaba used to win his race against Former Senator Cabew Illix.

First I will shortly describe the functionality of the older turborock and the scramjet separately, then I will explain how we managed to combine these propulsion types and finally I will show some results. Don’t worry, I am not going to activate one here.” He added, with a smile.


“The turborock: This is an older technology with a limited max speed. There is an engine which drives the turborock, which I will further address as the drive engine, and there is the engine creating the actual propulsion, which I will address as the propulsion engine.

The output of the high acceleration propulsion system used in the propulsion engine is limited by the power of the drive engine.”

“By sucking air in, compressing it, adding fuel and ignite it, an efficient fuel system is created. This efficiency is mostly because the propulsion engine uses oxygen from the atmosphere. Reducing the weight requirements from the fuel and removing complicated mixture procedures in the engine as this will happen automatically.

However, sucking air in is done with help of these rotor blades,” Surbax pointed at certain parts in the front of the engine to show what he meant, “At a certain speed the tip of the blades achieve hypersonic speeds. From here the power required to make them spin faster will increase quadratic. At this point, the efficiency and speed is no longer limited by the propulsion engine, but by the drive engine. An impasse is met. Going faster using this technology requires a bigger drive engine. But the increased weight requires a bigger propulsion engine, which in turn requires a bigger drive engine. You all see where this is going.

Scramjet Engine

The scramjet:” A new image opened, showing a schematic working of the scramjet engine. “This is a completely different technology with completely different limitations. This engine type only uses a propulsion engine. Forward velocity pushes air inside the engine. This air then is compressed by the geometrical cone. At the slimmest location, fuel is added and ignited. The forward speed will create an automated flow of air being sucked in at the front, being compressed by shear pressure and being accelerated by the ignited fuel.

The benefit of this technology is the complete lack of moving parts. Fuel is added during the compression state of the air, and after ignition the propulsion engine automatically accelerates. There is no need for a drive engine which leads to higher efficiency potentials.

However, this engine type cannot start from itself, it requires a certain basic speed before the scramjet engine became able to be used. And just like the turborock engine, the scramjet engine can only be used properly in an atmosphere.

What I did with my colleagues is combining these two engine types to create a turborock scramjet engine. At low velocity, the turborock will work singly. After the turborock nears its potential ultimate speed, the integrated scramjets are activated.” An image showing a turborock scramjet engine showed up showing exactly what Surbax meant.

“The turborock propulsion engine ensures high enough air velocities are achieved for the scramjet engine, while the scramjet propulsion engine provides the necessary force for further acceleration to reach higher speeds than ever before with lightweight and efficient propulsion engines. The blades you see at the rear end of the engine which look likes rotor blades is a special membrane which ensure a stable and constant engine output.

Some of you might have noticed me arriving within five minutes time from the landing pad to the entrance. Something impossible with the old turborock engine, but easily achieved with the turborock scramjet engine.

The properties of the new engine are highly beneficial for speed and performance, as the following results will show.” The last part of the presentation contained mostly graphs of test results and performances.

“This graph will show the relation of the air velocity, temperature, propulsion force and pressure versus the Stoichiometric surface. As you can see, when the surface becomes smaller, these four important properties will rise to uncontrollable levels, while when the surface becomes larger, these properties drop to zero, making the scramjet engine do nothing. The next key to improvements is to find the optimal level of stoichiometric surface to reach the maximum theoretical speed.”

After the presentation finishes there is a big applause. It was a clear presentation and with this the political turmoil about the Skuldarian senator is settled. The question session was quite short and the chairmen can hold his closing speache.

Today is a presention of the Veolian Commonwealth about “Planetary scale atmosphereless gasses treatment and refinement processors” and the whole chemistry are has turned blue of Veolians. Amird. In perfect counter-orbit to Mirda, the planet is Mirda's opposite not only in the solar system, but in other things as well. Where Mirda is abound with life, Amird is a lifeless and barren planet. That is, until recently.

Now, a new kind of creature inhabits the world. A creature of pipes, pressure chambers and reactor vats: the mega-refinery. Over the course of this talk, I will explain to you the literally global design of the mega-refinery. I will do so at the hand of a number of points of interest, each highlighted with a holographic render of the actual construction on Amird."

"Large parts of the mega-refinery have not changed with regards to her smaller cousins. However, one of the largest economy-of-scale benefits that have been booked are in the area of transportation. Since the planets itself has no atmosphere, the construction of enormous gas canals allowed the use of slanted repulsor lifts to actually lift the gaseous mass up to the processor level, where after gravity takes over as the main transport driver.

As you may have noticed, the whole planet is covered in three layers: the lowest layer, the export layer transports finished mass to extraction docks distributed over the planet's surface. The middle layer is both the processing layer and the acquisition layer. Arrays of bore holes with a diameter of six meters draw upon Amird's natural reserves of gaseous mass embedded in the bedrock. These acquisition installations are each up to ten square miles in size.

Finally, the upper layer is the import layer. Raw gaseous mass is accepted from outside sources such as a fleet of harvester craft that carefully harvest the expelled gasses of nearby star systems' gas giants. The import layer is also responsible for transporting the acquired gaseous mass from Amird's bedrock to the right processor plants in the processing layer."

"What you see here is the pre-processing installation of a second-tier refinery subunit. These installations in the middle layer prepare the gaseous mass for the refining process by adding exotic matter catalysts. Each reactor is capable of processing seven mega-tonnes of gaseous mass per hour, and is designed as a continuous flow processor.

As a benefit of the large scale of operations on Amird, we have been able to use low-intensity artificial gravity generators to stir the gaseous mass without moving components requiring maintenance. This is only possible due to the large volume. Smaller volumes wouldn't be affected by local changes in gravity, and therefore require specialized equipment to stir."

Power transport

"The smaller units in the foreground are plasma purification stations. Power transport on the planet proved to be a challenge, as the traditional power transfer equipment was heavily influenced by even small amounts of leakage. To counter this, we have put a waste-product of the mega-refinery to good use.

Power transfer is done via charged plasma transport in a separate transport system in the second layer. Unfortunately, the leakage of the refineries still requires regular scrubbing of the plasma mass for dilution and waste mass. But the resultant system is roughly 34% more effective, and gives 12.3% of the waste mass of the refining process a new purpose as power transfer medium."

Ecosystem based on Gas?

"As I explained earlier, part of the production of gas is due to the extraction from Amird's own bedrock. here, one of the extractors is depicted. The three reservoirs in the foreground are each connected to a bore hole immediately below them. The output of these bore holes was higher than expected, in part due to the reclaiming of leakage of the export layer. This actually allowed us to set up a recycling system where we have filtering installations in the upper layer that channel undesired gasses to the extraction states by utilizing dedicated shafts through the second layer, and letting gravity do the rest.

One of these drainage shafts can be seen in the background, the wedge-shaped building. Another interesting anecdote about these drainage shafts is there effect in planet-wide terraformation projects. In the introduction, I called the mega-refinery a creature.

Recent research has indicated that this might not be far from the truth: as these shafts actually feed into the mega-refinery directly, the gasses necessary to establish an atmosphere can be drawn from the mega-refinery immediately. Current predictions indicate that the mega-refinery will actually be a core component to the planet's ecosystem once terraformation has balanced the different requirements.

Several research projects are aimed at exploiting the properties of the mega-refinery to establish an eco-system where waste gasses are absorbed as part of a microbial diet. This way, we can prevent Amird from becoming an industrial waste-land of toxins as is so often depicted by opponents of industry."

It is the 4th day and the conference is well under way. In the physics department it seems more lively then usual. Today is the presentation of T'sal entitle "Further defining time delation; the influence of speed and gravity on the time perception and effect on various materials".

Upon entering the room you see young Hiocan women standing on the stage. You can her people whisper.

When the lights slowly start to dim the voices hush down and the presentations starts.

“Welcome ladies and gentlemen,

My presentation is about the further defining of time dilation. The perceived time depends on the speed and the situation towards gravity of an object. Here on Hio time will move slower then high up in the atmosphere. And if you speed up, time will decrease. This is all relative to each other and in most cases the difference is so small that you can hardly measure it.

If you look however on subatomic scale you have a different picture. Here you have various heavy particles moving very fast in an almost empty space. You could compare to the star system were you have planets and orbits. The position of the clock where you measure follows the equation:

where:
  • dtE is a small increment of proper time tE
  • dtc is a small increment in the coordinate tc;
  • dx, dy and dz are small increments in the three coordinates x, y, z of the clock's position; and
  • GMi/r i represents the sum of the gravitational potentials due to the masses in the neighborhood

As the masses of subatomic particle is very small and are moving in quite empty space this term in the equation becomes almost equal to zero. This would result in no time dilation as the particles do not see and influence each other. However with the newest Galu-lik’rt analyzer the halve time of subatomic particles is followed in various situations of high speed and/or gravity.

The Galu-lik’rt analyzer consist of a is a big vacuum sphere with a ring where the sub atomic particles are accelerated to various speed and then are set send in the sphere where various gravity centers can interact with the particles. On the outside of the sphere special huon sensor are placed that will detect the particle and then the signal is send to the analyzer where a gazillion processes are run by the Galu-lik’rt. With this you can measure that the time dilation of subatomic differs a few atto seconds from the equation. This means that the equation does not describe the situation of subatomic particle and we need to transform it to hyper space.

The term GMi/ric2 is made into a new function ƕ which depend on the gravity G and speed v of the subatomic particle. The convention of defining this hyper space transformation of an integrable function ƕ f: R-> C,

When the independent variable v represents speed, the transform variable G represents the gravity of the subatomic particle.
Under suitable conditions, f is determined by f^ via the inverse transform:

The below graph shows how the red graph is transformed via various sine waves functions to the blue graph. So by going into hyperspace the equation can be solved and the time dilation on subatomic particles can be described.

The Hiocans were asking quite some question to T'sal and is was not easy for her to answer them all. It was clear that this seems to be part of a defense.

Time skip to ending ceremony

After the the ending speech of the chairmen where he thanked all the participant and the various faction for coming all the way there is a dinner party. There was a great selection of foods and at various stages musicians play. Slowly the conference comes to and end. The guest are leaving and the last scientific discussion end in exchanging contacts.
