Going dark for a while

Hey,

As you all might have noticed i've not been active at FWURG the past month or so, mostly due to holiday's.
However with my IRL schedule getting increasingly busy due to work and taking on a new EMA program (@RUG Groningen) this will most likely continue.

I have therefore decided to take a step back from actively playing my Jedi and Economy, at least for the moment.
Since I will also not be posting any turn report, this would unfairly impact Stuiter since she depends on my survey progress for the completion of her settlement site scanning. For that I would propose to just count the turns necessary and assume all funds payed for once the required number of turns has passed.

Cheers for now,
~G

I have no objection to a solution where Stuiters progress continues to accumulate even if Gerben is not making a turn report for a few weeks. What do others think?

Yes, no problem, other players should not be punished for somebody's inactivity.

On a smaller scale we also have a similar thing with the terraformation that Gerben started on Morrigna in our settlement.
This terraformation was left on in turn 322: Terraformation on Morrigna for Atmospheric Purification, Hyperactive Stromatolites, Photosynthetic Rebalancing, and Deep Polar Melting: +300 (:terraform) -> INCOMPLETE ( 5700 / 7125 (:terraform), 16 / 20 (:turns) )

Since the modules are still there with more than 25 each turn the terraformation should continue. (at least not fail)
With Gerben wanting to come back in the future I guess this project will eat a minimum of 25 modules each turn without getting any progress.

Finally for the final battles in the Remunzia battle it is a shame that Gerben is not here. Since he still has a voice in the discussion with an army present :(.

I have not objection to the proposed solution for the surveying.

I would say that the rest of the situation should be handled in the normal sense for worlds becoming inactive—after 2 months of no turn reports they become a Fringe World, which already has clear guidelines with respect to trades. Unfortunately, this would have significant repercussions for the Union's economy (as the Sundarians are one of the major (:information)-processors. I do not really see how this is to be avoided, since it seems that becoming a Fringe world is exactly what "going dark" effectively does.

I is good to hear that take part in the EMA program, but bad you will be very busy.
I was planning on buying more goods from the Sundarian. Like Brends says you are big (:information) product supplier.
Maybe we have to find something for the decrease of active economy players.

Phasing out the Sundarians could mean for me that I am stopping with the economy as well. We literally played for years and the player base is only decreasing. I am not sure if I want to go through the hassle of phasing out a large player again.

To be honest this could actually be a good opportunity to start thinking about the FWURG reboot. Since other people might feel the same.

Chriz's words perfectly mirror my own sentiment on the matter.

I concur that maybe a reboot/rethink might be in order. After all, we have been going strong for almost 6.5 years now!

(Note that we have already started thinking on a rework of the game rules in the FWURG 2.0 Theorizing forum!)

I would be all for a 2.0 version, though i would have less time at the moment i'm sure i will eventually come back.

I totally agree that this is a good point to start thinking about a FWURG reboot. The economic aspect of FWURG seems to be rather stagnant as of late, which is allowed after those 6.5 years.

This will take quite a bit of time, and we do need to decide what to do about the current economic system at the moment (if we want to keep on doing that).

Maybe we should plan a design-a-thon?

For me, I don't have a strong opinion on the matter. Due to changing circumstances (work and girlfriend) I find myself less and less behind the computer.

That being said, I am in favour of a design-a-thon and to dig deeper in a new system. It seems fun to do for me.

when/if I get a little more active again in the near future, I have a nice Jedi mission planned to run ^^
