A message from the Echani came in on the frequency and encryption that had been agreed upon, being immediately patched through to the Chancellor and Minister of Defence.

The Mandalorians are moving forces from the Aptic Zone to the Tampa Zone. They are expected to make a move towards Union Territy next.

One of the chancellor's aides added a note to the message:

From a previous encounter with the Echani, we know that the 'Aptic Zone' features a double pulsars system where the slower pulsar pulsates at a ratio of 33.425 to the faster one. Based on this it is most likely in Sector 3 -6.

Remembering the encounter the chancellor also remembered the secretive ways of the Echani, and the value they place on information and the validation thereof. So, she replied to the message:

The Aptic Zone features a double pulsars system where the slower pulsar pulsates at a ratio of 33.425 to the faster one.

We shall validate your information, and take action.

Which phenomenon shall we find in the Tampa Zone so we know we speak of the same area of space?

The Tampa Zone centres on a nebula with elevated helium levels and three pulsars that trace almost a perfect line through their centres. If the Union is attacked, the Echani will aid its fleets.

The message ended again. Apparently the Echani did not like conversations and instead resorted to short and to the point message exchange. Regardless, this information would place the Tampa Zone on the border between Sector 4 -6 and Sector 4 -7. It also meant the Echani zoning system did not elegantly match the more common grid used by the rest of the galaxy.

The following message was sent to the Chancellor, with a high end military grade encryption.

Chancellor,

Based on this information and assuming it is legitimate, might I suggest we put the fleets in the Great Coreward Fleet Group on high alert status immediately.

We should also warn the factions in that area and inform the Senate as soon as possible.

The chancellor replied with the following message:

Maria,

You are the Minister of Defence. I would not have asked you for the position if I though you would not do well, or if I though I could not trust your judgement. Take the precautions you deem necessary in the knowledge that I will support your decision.

As to informing the senate, I propose that you combine both: inform the senate of the Mandalorian fleet movement, and tell them what measure you have taken.

As a side note: in my time as minister of defence, I freed up 4000 for the improvement of defensive positions and military support in sectors 7 -4, 7 -5, 7-6 and 8 -7. Consult with your staff on the details.
