I am writing to inform you that in 150 the Astai Republic has salvaged 370 worth of union fleet wreckage in 7 -4. We have made sure not to make any use of your hyperspace lane. We seized upon an opportunity to close a substantial hole in our production, however the realisation of this came at too late a time to inform you in time. Given this fact we wish to offer the Astrian Colonial Authority a compensation of 74 , this being 0.2 per worth of union fleet wreckage, now we just need to know when you would like to receive this compensation.

Dear Senator Atheos,

I wish you had informed me of this plan before you executed it. We would have been more then willing to work something out with the Astai Republic.

However since you did not you have essentially violated our sovereign territory. As you are not the first the Lord-Master is far from happy and I am having an extremely difficult time convincing him to at least wait with filing a claim against the Astai with the Union. To be perfectly honest I find myself reluctant to ask him not to file a claim at all.

While your offer indicates you have no ill will against the ACA, we must look at the bigger picture. If the ACA lets two different violations of our sovereignty slide, we will be inviting others to do that as well. That would would not only endanger our reputation, but the security of the ACA and it's citizens. Though the offer you make is generous for buying raw materials. It would need to be significantly higher for us not to file a claim. 60% of the additional profits you made with the salvaged materials would suffice.

It saddens me that these things have happened, but I believe you understand I must think of the ACA itself before the relation between the ACA and the Astai. You have till the end of 151 to accept our offer.

Our economists tell me that our spendable income last turn was 507 without subsidies and that it would have been 362 if not for the imported materials. This means that we will transfer 87 to you this turn.
