After having determined the best time to contact the senator of the Silver Forests of Remunzia, early in the afternoon just after the senate convenes, senator Nehket Aeka walked into her offices in the Veolian embassy.
"What's on the program for today?", she asked her aide.
Her aide informed her of her plans for the rest of the day without any hesitation: "First off a call about the Green Unity project, the senator of Remunzia. Directly after calls to both the Daryans and the Sundarian Federation both about the same. You have the late afternoon to yourself, I have already ordered a bath drawn at that time. This evening you have a dinner with a suitor sent here by your mother."
The senator told her aide to call up the embassy of the Silver Forests. While waiting for the holonet connection to be set up Aeka set part of her brain aside to think up a way of getting rid of this new suitor.
"Thank you for receiving my call senator.
I have called you to inquiry about the Remunzian position on the terraformation of Unity. Previously we have shortly spoken about the fierce debate that is ongoing within your faction on the morality of terraformation. Within a few weeks I shall announce plans to speed up the progress of the terraformation of Unity. I have already gained the support of two members of the Union, and would like to know what the Remunzian position is on this subject.
I do not wish to cause internal difficulties for your worlds, but as I understand it the terraformation of Unity is not a spearpoint of the debates?"

Senator Salixa's office was filled with plants and the Veolian Senator even noticed small creatures crawling around - birds, a raptor-rabbit and even a small lizard on the wall. The furniture was simple and made of rock, covered with soft moss.
"Of course Senator, I was glad to take your call.
The primary debate concerns terraformation of worlds which already harbour some form of primitive life or which have the option of one day developing life naturally. Many considder the terraformation of such worlds to be a disruption of the existing ecosystem on those planets.
Unity once harboured life and some on my world feel that its terraformation is disrespectful to the life that once lived there, though most recognise that before the galactic community started gathering there, the world was as dead as can be.
That being said, your announcement no doubt will be a point of debate on our world. Though it is not a spear-point in the debates at this moment, it will likely become so for a while after your announcement."

"Very well. If there is anything we can do to help the people of the Silver Forests debate this issue -- such as the sharing of terraformation plans and projections -- please do not hesitate to ask. The Veolian Commonwealth takes such debates very serious, as it is the populace of the Union that the Union derives it's strenght from.
Might we count on your support for our proposal, or does the internal debate prevent you from supporting such a project?"

"I am afraid that I cannot give you a clear-cut answer on that, Senator. If our people love to debate issues on this matter, our government is even more divided on the matter. I cannot give you the oppinion of our world before it has been debated by the Elders. That will take some time and I do not expect I will be able to get back to you before you bring the matter before the Senate. I am sorry I cannot give you a better answer."

"My thanks for your time. If there is anything with which I can assist your government in the debate on this issue, please let me know."
After a short nod to Senator Salixa, Nehket Aeka closed the holonet channel.
"We will see how this turns out", the senator told her aide," I have hope that the Silver Forests will still turn out to be a proponent of our ideas."
Her aide nodded, and replied: "They do have a history of debate on this issue milady. Maybe it would be best to make sure that we have the support of at least two other parties."
"Of course. Call the next representative please, and make sure that I have a reservation for two for a sports dome. I intend to wear out my suitor so badly, he won't have any breath left while I tell him that he is genetically undesirable."
