Dear Serrah,

The Astai Republic is looking to both shape up its technological repository and offer our population more options in life to increase their comfort of living and their appeasement. To this end we would like to purchase several technologies from the Veolian Commonwealth.

These technologies would be the Fundamental Genetics Research, Assisted Apomictic Parthenogenesis and Xeno-obstetrics and the Extra-dimensional Particle Collectors. We would like to know how much it would cost to purchase these from you.

Furthermore we would like to commit to the research on the Microclimate Integration technology if the Veolian Commonwealth ever starts research in this field.

Due to the presence of several treaties and contracts, it is best to reply with an answer and quote per technolgy.

Fundamental Genetics Research: We offer the technology at a price of 125 (:tax)

Xeno-obstetrics: We offer the technology at a price of 625 (:tax)

of which is to be transferred to the Sundarian Federation.

Assisted Apomictic Parthenogenesis: The Veolian Commonwealth developed this technology in cooperation with the STF, which has since been succeeded by the Astrian Colonial Authority.

Option A: We are bound by treaty to the ACA to sell the technology under a basic cost-sharing license where every partner pays their share of the development costs equally distributed to each of the already bought-in partners. Through a payment of 300 (:tax)

to each current partner (i.e. the Veolian Commonwealth and the ACA) you can buy into the partnership, conditional upon your acceptance of the license.

Option B: We are also bound to offer you the technology through article 2(III) of the Tax Deductable Technological Research Law. If you do not agree to the basic cost-sharing license, you can invoke article 2(II) and 3 of the act and compel us to sell at a price no higher than 900 (:tax)

Extra-dimensional Particle Collectors: We are willing to transfer this technology for 125 (:tax)

, conditional upon the Astai Republic not transfering this technology nor any technologies developed from this technology to third parties.

I shall reply technology by technology.

The price for Fundamental Genetics Research seems most acceptable.

A price of 625 for Xeno-Obstetrics would seem to be fair.

For Assisted Apomictic Parthenogenesis, could you be compelled, under the Tax Deductable Technological Research Law, to sell the technology for under 500 (:tax)

?

For the Extra-dimensional Particle Collectors, we will buy this technology for 125 (:tax)

and not transfer that technology nor any technologies developed from it to third parties.

On Fundamental Genetics Research, Xeno-obstetrics and Extra-dimensional Particle Collectors: as you agree to our terms for these technologies, we will arrange for the transport of data crystals and visits of experts in the field of biology and xeno-biology to Enthor. In return, we expect payment (to the sum 563 (:tax)

to the Veolian Commonwealth, and 312 (:tax)

for the Sundarian Federation) for these technologies in this turn.

As to the Assisted Apomictic Parthenogenesis: I suggest that you accept the terms of the basic cost-sharing license; a total price of 600 (:tax)

is not much above your offer. If you do not wish to accept the terms of the basic cost-sharing license, I advice you to handle the acquisition of Assisted Apomictic Parthenogenesis as a separate matter. If you opt to do so I strongly suggest contacting a consultancy agency such as Baltimorus & Salaha.

and

? The Veolian Commonwealth is looking for stable suppliers of these goods, and I would like to have some guidelines when comparing the selling prices of different worlds. Given that the Astai Republic is the lead producer in these industries, the price you use can act as a good baseline for comparisons.
