Dear Lanadi,

I would like to inquire into the possibilities of obtaining Orbital Organics Processing for use within our settlement.
It would provide us with the means to further increase our capacity to procude (:organics)-related goods such as (:congoods).

Daphne

Dear Daphne,

I have discussed the possibility with a representative of House Iaat, and they are willing to share the technology at a greatly reduced price. However, in return they want some guarantees with regards to their investments in (:organics) corporations.

From what I gather they view the Nashira Mira settlement as somewhat of a problem. Not a threat exactly, but they appear wary of the developments of the (:organics) industry, especially given that the agreement between the Sundarian Federation and the Praetorian Empire is shrouded in uncertainty and secrecy. While they did not say so explicitly, I have deduced that House Iaat feels that their contributions to the Sundarians' (:organics) industry might be put aside due to pressure from the Praetorian Empire.

This brings me to the terms of the arrangement:
  • The Orbital Organics Processing will be made available at a cost of 500 (:tax), given that:
  • The Sundarian Federation does not transfer this technology to other parties,
  • The Sundarian Federation agrees to not be part of the establishment of new (:organics) corporations, nor allow them in their territory.

I hope this is a workable proposal. If not, I can probably get them to drop some of the conditions, but they will most likely ask a higher price in that case. Alternatively, you could place conditions upon the situation as well. In my opinion, if House Iaat wishes to guarantee their "contributions" why not have them buy a stake in the Conductive Polymers Corporation? I think they would be receptive to such an agreement.

Do let me know what you would prefer me to do.

Yours sincerely,
Lanadi

Dear Lanadi,

Let me start by thanking you for taking the time to help our combined interests, I very much appreciate it.
As for the current proposal:

While I am pleased with the reduced cost for the technology and the prohibition on sharing the technology, I must say I'm a little surprised by the difficulty House Iaat seems to have with the prospects this offers.

I've spoken with Miss Alexandra Koniova, as she recalls Duke Iaat Vaypar is a reasonable man, so I believe that a good deal should indeed be possible. However with regards to selling shares, Miss Koniova was a little less forthcoming. I suspect that the position of her Family on that matter hasn't changed. She was however willing to discuss terms with regards to expanding the corporate facilities to our settlement.

Taking that into consideration, we would need to secure corporate rights for both the DVF Organics and Daryatech Consortium. Given the current situation that House Iaat holds ownership of these rights, I'm sure we can reach an arrangement that is both suitable to our needs, and prevents the necessity of new partners to enter the Corporate Organics Market. I'm sure that the Duke is capable of seeing the benefits of this, since it would eventually ensure the corporate expansion by 6 zones each.

I would be happy to discuss this option in further detail in person, perhaps over a nice dinner?

Yours sincerely,
Daphne

Dear Daphne,

I would love to have dinner, but I wouldn't want to spoil the enjoyment with business.

If you come by my office in the veolian embassy, we can discuss the matter privately before our dinner?

Your friend,
Lanadi

Dear Lanadi,

That sounds like an even better plan.
I shall join you once I've been able to gather some further assurances on the matter, not in the least from our government.

Yours sincerely,
Daphne
