When I send a private message, it almost always first makes a preview, even if I did not click on preview, but on submit. This should probably be fixed at some point (no rush, I might eventually do it myself - this post is mostly so its not forgotten that this is brokey).

That's not a bug. That's a "feature". PhpBB does that because you didn't hit the 'add' button after writing down the recipient of the PM, the preview serves as the request adding the recepient to the list so you can check that everything is in order before actually sending it.

I suspect that changing that won't be so easy, and will most likely summon forth all kinds of bugs with the normal forum operations.
