Link styling proposal

In our current styling, links are always underlined. To me this is a bit of a hurdle when writing a normal piece of text; I want the text to read easily, and to contain a lot of links to other places (so the wiki can be navigated in a nice way).

Therefore, I propose to remove the underline from links (but leave the brighter colour), and add it only when the user hovers over the link; this is the same way Wikipedia is styled and they styled it like this for the same reason.

Opinions?

(Note that not all links are underline: the menu isn't, a lot of links in the forum aren't; it's just links on the wiki, and links in forum posts that always have the underline.)

I am fine with your current proposal. It will probably make the text a little bit more easy readable.

I am currently working on this.

Links might repeatedly change appearance (for better or worse). My apologies.

After much trial and error, I have made the following changes final:

  • Links are not of a different color than normal text. Much to my surprise, this change made it very easy on the eyes.
  • Links are blue if hovered. This gives a clear indication that it is a link.
  • The forum style was fixed to be the same as the wiki link style, for links in posts.

Don't forget to ctrl+f5 (or whatever reload everything) before saying it doesn't work.

If you see a link that is really weird or obviously wrong, contact me.

I ran into this problem as well, especially around the election story entries where single sentences contain loads of links. The way it is currently styled works surprisingly well!
