I have some sad news for our early players (everyone except Barbaar - who is on hiatus - and Iladriel - who is new).
From this turn (Turn 11) onwards, you will have to pay taxes to the Union. The relevant rules are listed here:
http://83.163.184.178:81/dokuwiki/ic:union_tax_law
For your convenience, I have made a quick tax tool which calculates the amount of taxes due to the Union depending on your income. It can be found here:
http://83.163.184.178:81/uniontax.html
Note that in principle you pay taxes over the tax sets you convert from products into taxes. You do not have to add income from these sources:
- income given to you by other players
- income given to you by Union NPC's
- income granted to you by Union subsidies and grants of any type
- income generated by selling goods to the Open Market
- income from loans, either from players, NPC's or the rules for loans
You DO have to pay taxes over tax sets converted into taxes using goods bought from the Open Market, and taxes received from non-Union worlds.
Taxes are due at the end of the turn, and should be included in the turn report. The new turn report has an entry for taxes in the 'Regular Expenses' heading.
Additionally keep in mind that this was the last turn of the Union Grant for many of you!

Clarification:
You do NOT have to pay taxes over income from corporation Headquarters. I have added a notice in the rules about this. Taxes on this are exempt for economic reasons.
