How difficult is it to get a hold of lightsaber crystals without infrastructure such as the Jedi Order?

Context: My new character, Tera, starts out without lightsabers because she was captured by the Jedi Order. I would like for her to have lightsabers at some point in time, and was wondering how difficult it is to actually get those. I know that the Jedi Order has ways of acquiring them, but so do other groups such as the mandalorian lightsaber wielders, or Malarika and her followers.

Should I go on a mission to get lightsaber crystals, or can I assume that one could acquire lightsaber crystals from shady markets on unaligned space stations?

I think they are mainly expensive, but shouldn't be all that hard to come by on the black market. This could feature a nice short story though, doesn't have to a mission in my book but might be a hook to hang up an event or another story/mission on.

I think lightsaber crystals are not a regular commodity and certainly aren't sold as such. The crystal is likely to be an expensive and valuable gem which no normal person could easily afford - but which force users through the force may be able to recognise or find. Lightsabers should be unique items that aren't easy to get, but they also should not be exclusive - merely are and expensive. I see no reason your character cannot get a lightsaber or two without Storyteller involvement. But not 50.
