Ok I have a number of questions here:

  • Can you let the scanning fleet of another faction scan a site for outpost sites and/or space habitat sites?
  • Is the +100 you get from outpost clusters the only production zones have or does this add to the base / upgrade production a zone of the right type has?
  • According to the wiki only your home system needs to assign a trade fleet to an outpost, can you create a trade route between your home system and the outpost (using the additional zone for the open market zone)?
  • Can outpost sites have things like Natural Life, oceans, atmosphere?
  • If so how is this decided?

I get some of these might not have been thought out yet, due to lack of interest in this topic. But I have interest now and I would like to know these things so I can take necessary steps for colonization. :)

On another note: I think there is an error on the Prefabrication page. The table says an outpost goes from costing 1400 (:tax) + 800 (:superstructure-components) without the tech to 500 (:tax) + 1000 (:superstructure-components). Should I fix this or is this not a mistake?

Yes. Though it is called surveying fleet.

The +100 is in addition to the base production of the Zone.

Yes. You can also create a trade route from the outpost to anywhere else.

Can outpost sites have things like Natural Life, oceans, atmosphere?

No.

What are the questions about the shipping corporation?

(PS. You are right about the error, I fixed it while checking the answers to your questions.)

The trade route question. Perhaps I should be more specific:

Can you use a Shipping Corporation Trade Route to ship maintenance costs and produced goods to and from an outpost? And would this cost additional trade fleets?
clarification: You need only one trade fleet to supply and receive goods from an outpost, a Shipping Corporation Trade Route needs both sides to assign a trade fleet unless you have the required technology.

No, you can not use a shipping corporation to ship from and to the outpost with the same fleet. The fact that this is allowed with normal fleets is a special case for outposts, and does not extend beyond that.

Since you are shipping to yourself and you can assign one trade fleet to ship both ways, I would say that the single trade fleet can count for both trade fleets of the shipping Corporation. You will still have to lock in the route and I think this would require a technology.

Nonetheless I agree that we should clarify the situation of trading with your own assets.

I take it that is unless you have the Bi-Directional Flow Logistics technology?

If you have that technology, you can assign a single trade fleet, but it still goes one way.

All shipping corporation-empowered trade fleets take goods in a one-way-direction. The fact that an outpost claims magic powers doesn't change how the technology and the associated corporation works.
