Some time ago, there was mention of non-saber combat styles.

I wanted to take a non-saber combat style for my jedi, as having only saber styles effectively prohibits you from fighting without a saber (which gives away your being a jedi immediately). Since our Jedi start out with two combat styles (one of which is Shii-Cho), can the other style be taken in a non-saber style?

If so, what do 'normal' weapon's statistics look like? For example, wookiepedia has information on a large amount of blaster-style weapons, but also the weapon-type of my interest: Wookiepedia on Bow (weapon), the bows category, and a very interesting Nightsister energy bow.

Since the Force combines well with projectile-style weapons, and there is some precedent of this on Wookiepedia, I'd like to start out with a Bow combat style and a unique bow-style weapon (not a crossbow). Since Hemet Veolians are strong, when compared to normal races (about three times according to fluff, not really that much according to the actual jedi stats) I think they're able to use bows that have far more pull, and thus more damage and/or range.

Are there some hints or tips for designing combat styles / weapons?

With scifi composite materials for bow, string and arrow, I can see it working.

The first thing to get fixed is the stats for a bow. Keep in mind though that as a non-saber weapons, they face some strong restrictions - non-saber weapons do not attack in all three rings - this means the bow will not be much use against another force user (though it might provide a bonus and will be useful against non-force users). Additionally, your opponent will be able to benefit from shields and armour (most of which don't work against lightsabers).

The ring limitation would be crucial for the bow style, since it will likely focus its bonus on rings the bow can affect.

What are you thinking of in terms of what you want to achieve with the combat style? Extra good aim? Trick shots?

I think most bow weapons that fire either physical or energy projectiles are definitely piercing weapons.

The basic premise of the style is to have a ranged combat style, so not everyone needs to be dispatched from close range. It might include a manoeuvre that enables some form of simple trick-shot as you can use the force to influence arrows in-flight, so why not do that? Though I think the style should focus on offering good aim without sacrificing the stealth-aspect of using a bow. Blaster make a lot of noise when compared to a bow, unless you start using energy bows (which are really cool by the way).

To summarize: The style should focus on precision and speed, with trick-shots as a secondary.

I think that there should also be stats for the actual bow in use, for now a physical (scifi materials+recurve imho) bow. But I think this becomes especially relevant if the option to acquire an energy-bow becomes available later on?

I have made a draft of a non-saber style utilizing a bow: Arkari-Renja.

Please comment and advice.
