"We propose to establish the Definition of Life Act, to remove ambiguity on what groups of entities can join our Union.
the Chancellor paused a moment.
"The options for this vote are 'yes' in favour of establishing the Definition of Life Act and 'no' against this act. Keep in mind that it has been possible to voice objections to the definition for at least half a year, and that this discussion was open to all. Furthermore, the act explicitly contains a reevaluation period.
The following member worlds may vote:
Voting closes on monday 28 January 2013."
Definition of Life Act
- Any group of entities can only join the Union if they are deemed alive (in addition to the conditions laid out in the Membership Act)
- Whether a group of entities is alive will be determined as follows:
- If it has been shown something can manipulate the force, it must be alive.
- If it has been shown that something has no connection to the force, it can not be alive.
- when nothing can be said about the connection to the force about a group, the set of six rules will apply, to be alive, a group then must:
- Eat
- Grow
- respond to stimuli
- reproduce, which involves at least a biological process
- adapt to their environment
- maintain a homeostasis
- Because of our advancing understanding of the universe, the definition of life will be revisited after a period of five years.

Senator Danar Tassar - PC
- Location: Unity
"The Teprogrenaian Consensus votes YES on the act."
"The Federal Republic of Bisidn thinks this is an excellent step towards less ambiguity and votes YES on the act."
"This is preposterous!. The Teprogrenaian Consensus has done way to little to promote the discussion, especially the newer joined members are not informed of the meeting, and the interest was way to little to open such an important vote based on the outcome of the discussion.
I vote NO."
I vote NO."
While the STF had no vote, Lady-Senator Maria Latharion was still present.
But a little after the vote had started she got up and walked out of the senate.

"The Astai Republic votes YES to the definition of life act, having been composed by the most competent philosophers and scientists we find this an acceptable restriction to the required membership of the union."
"The Hiocan Society sees logic and reason in this definition of live and votes YES."
"Deominius votes yes on this proposal. We have always felt that those less fortunate than ourselves should be viewed as alive and we are happy to see that the Union sees the wisdom of our insights."
"Mioman believes these are all reasonable statements and votes yes in support of this act."
"Wrarrbo votes yes in support of this act."
"Excaria will lend its support to this law. We vote 'yes'."
"The Socialist Republic of Niom votes 'yes' in favour of the Definition of Life Act."
"Scir votes 'yes' in favour of this proposal."
"The Sundarian Federation is in favour of this law, however it should serve as a starting point, not as THE truth and therefore excluding other entities which may not yet be alive under these criteria. Live is a precarious thing, as is the force, none of us do fully understand it, and we should therefore be careful and leave room for interpretation and/or additions to this declaration.
We vote "YES". "
We vote "YES". "
A missive was received from the Kingdom of Komès which read but a single world.
" Yes "
" Yes "

"I believe Senator de Montrève raises an excellent point. This act can serve as a basis on which to expand, we vote in favour of this proposal. 'Yes'."
"This is an area the government should stay out of. It has no business telling anyone if they are alive or not. We vote 'No'."
"The Silver Forests of Remunzia abstains on this issue."
"The unified Republic of Darya finds this a useful definition we therefore vote 'Yes'."
"The Principality of Suma abstains from this issue."
"The Three Circles Council has instructed me to vote 'no'. It is our deeply held belief that all beings that can engage in trade may be entitled to the status of being 'alive'.
