Senator Nehket Aeka of the Veolian Commonwealth takes up a position at the speaking dais, quickly followed by senator Ardios Eldrilith of the Praetorion Empire and senator Konev of Unified Republic of Darya.

"Fellow Senators,

It was some time ago that our respective factions joined the Union. We have been met with much friendship and opportunities to improve both ourselves and the Union.

We think the time has come to prepare for even more integration between the different members of the Union. The Veolian Commonwealth, together with the Praetorian Empire and the Unified Republic of Darya wish to announce a summit on the subject of inter-species procreation. We feel that this step is of great importance if we are to work together closely and gain a greater understanding of each others history and culture. Although the social position of offspring differs from faction to faction, it is with great pride that parents see their children grow and develop into upstanding members of the Union.

Our hope is that the summit will lead to a joint research project that will result in technologies that enables our peoples to mingle and find a compatible mate more freely.

The summit will be held on Mirda, the home world of the Veolians, and will begin the 5th of September. We wish to invite every member of the Union and our newest candidate member, the Embers of Aten, to send a delegation to discuss the implications and difficulties of the subject. Different tracks will be available, which will at least cover the topics of Ethics and Biology. Please have your aide send a list of attending delegation members to the Veolian embassy on Unity so we can arrange for the necessary accommodations.

[Lady Peinaili de Montrève]

" The Sundarian Federation supports the idea of a beter understanding of ones way of life and cultural habits, as we can learn much from each others culture and history. I shall therefore attend this meeting personally. "

Lady Peinailli responded as she had heared the proposal by the Veolian Senator and she signalled her aides to make primary arrangements

" And if there are no objections from either parties, i would like to bring a rather different delegation then usual, as i think that these topics should not only be interesting to some members of our government, but it would also be good for our children and youngsters. They would be able to learn much from this trip and this may well be a good opportunity for all of us the strengthen our relationships as it will be the younger generations and the generations after them, that will have to benefit from the arrangements and other gains from this summit. Is this acceptable for the Veolian Senator ? "

[Nehket Aeka]

"That is an excellent suggestion Lady de Montreve, we would certainly welcome such a delegation. And we agree that the summit could host talks, workshops and other activities on a more cultural level."

An aide whispered something into the ear of Senator Nehket Aeka. She clearly looks surprised for a moment, but collects herself and states:

"However, I do feel it is necessary that these youngsters and children are accompanied by at least one individual with legal guardianship. Some subjects on the programme of the summit could be considered inappropriate for children -- cultural differences could prove it difficult to judge this from our point of view. For example, the continuation of one's bloodline is considered one of the most important duties in veolian culture. As such, reproduction is an issue that is discussed openly and parents expect their children to have experience with the subject around the age of fourteen."

"We will do our very best to ensure that all cultural boundaries are respected, but this effort will be greatly helped if someone with insight into the children's culture assist us in such assessments. It might be best if each participating faction assigns a cultural liaison to smooth over any issues before they become an issue at the summit."

[Senator Ght'Twwf of the Socialist Republic of Niom]

"The Socialist Republic of Niom will send a delegation. We are interested in exchanging factual information and hope to be able to give extensively detailed statistics on the various possibilities within this topic."

If the Senators tone of voice was any indication, that could possibly become the most boring lecture at the summit.

[Senator Acehtoo of the Miomanian Colonists]

"I speak to you as Senator of the Miomanian Colonists, not as Chancellor - the Miomanian Colonists will send a delegation of scientist specialising in procreation related diseases and their treatment."

[Nehket Aeka]

"Currently, six factions have shown interest in the inter-species procreation summit: The Miomanian Colonists, the Socialist Republic of Niom, the Praetorian Empire, the Unified Republic of Darya and the host, the Veolian Commonwealth.

To remind those yet undecided: The summit starts the 5th of September so be sure to have arrangements made before this date. And secondly, we hope the summit will end with an agreement to continue on in the spirit of the summit with a joint research project which will hopefully allow our peoples to mingle more freely.

"The Lifebringer Clans will attend the summit. We hope to be able to contribute in the field of genetics. Additionally, due to our history, we can provide some insights into a mixed-species culture."

[Imhotep]

"The Embers of Aten shall also attend. We hope to learn a lot about the culture of our fellow members and bring a royal amount of information about our own culture. As to the" Imhotep pauses for a moment "biological aspect, we shall donate what little wisdom we have on the interracial variety, however we can try to find some information amongst the data within the archive of our former master."

As Imhotep speaks the words "former master", he appears to make no effort to hide his contempt.

"Fellow Senators,

With the last registrations processed, there are currently 8 delegations participating in the inter-species procreation and culture summit.

We are currently altering the conference complex to cope with each delegation's racial and personal environmental preferences. If you wish to send a delegation, please let us know as soon as possible, preferably before the 4th of September, so all arrangements can be finished before the summit opens the 5th of September.
