because of the need for the cabinet to act quickly in regards to the dangerous situation with the Mandalorians, we propose the following amendment to the Union Voting Laws, to be added as section 8 to the base vote.
Emergency Votes
In cases of emergencies, the Chancellor may declare a vote to be an emergency vote at the time it is presented.
- An emergency vote may have at most 2 options.
- An emergency vote requests members vote as soon as possible.
- An emergency vote may be closed immediately upon receiving the required number of votes for an absolute majority over the total number of voters.
- Voters who have voted to abstain are not counted against the total number of voters for purposes of closing the vote.
The options on this vote are 'yes' in favour of this amendment and 'no' against the amendment.
The following member worlds may vote:
- Astai Republic
- Free Peoples of Wrarrbo
- Hiocan Society
- High Chiefdom of Skuldda
- Inter-System Charter Company
- Interregnum Democracy of Scir
- IO Protocol
- Kingdom of Komès
- Sundarian Federation
- Kingdom of Meritonia
- Teprogrenaian Consensus
- Liberal Assencia
- Unified Republic of Darya
- New Communist Imperium of the Rising Suns of Deominius
- Veolian Commonwealth
- Principality of Suma

"The Veolian Commonwealth votes YES.

Senator Danar Tassar - PC
- Location: Unity
"The Teprogrenaian Consensus votes 'YES'."
"More centralization of power!? We vote NO!"
"Doesn't the Chancellor feel she is powerful enough? We also vote NO!"
"The Confederacy of Excaria stands behind the Chancellor and the Cabinet. We vote YES."
"The Socialist Republic of Niom is of the opinion that the already short duration of time made available for voting leaves too little room for careful passing of the vote through the proper channels for careful evaluation by the bureaucracy. The Socialist Republic of Niom therefore has no choice but to vote 'no', against this proposal."
"The Silver Forests of Remunzia abstain on this matter."
"Due to various considerations, the Interregnum Democracy of Scir also abstains."

"ABSTAIN"
The Sundarian Federation supports this measure, we thus vote "Yes". We would advice the Chancellor and her Cabinet to be careful with this new option however since declaring everything and anything an emergency will not do.
"We feel that the proposed measures do not take into account our puissant insight on emergency situations, and instead offer too much power to the Chancellor. We vote NO."
"The Hiocan Society thinks that if there is a emergency the Cabinet should already have enough power to handle the situation. In other situations you should be prepared properly in advance and give factions to carefully consider their decision. Also it is quite easy to hold up the voting by not voting and turning it in a regular vote making its intention fail. We vote No."
"It is my opinion that the Cabinet already has sufficient ways to express their failure at adequate legislation and government, passing this law would give them a way to rush band-aide measures to resolve larger issues.. we vote "NO".
" I understand the need to push this amendment, but I also feel that adequate measures could have been taken beforehand and thus making this amendment redundant and offer the cabinet much more power then needed. I therefore, in good conscience, cannot support this measure and am thus forced to abstain.
"The principality of Suma thinks that the Chancellor should have the power to make quick decision, but decision should not be made too hasty. As our decisions is split we vote blank."

"The Astai Republic also advices caution as to what issues are put to such an emergency vote. But we feel we can still vote no on issues that should be passed through normal discussions and votes and so we vote yes on this proposal."
"The vote is now officially closed. 5 votes were made in favour, 6 votes were made against, we had 5 official abstentions and 4 non-votes. An absolute majority over the valid votes is 6 votes out of 11. Motion denied."
