Once again, the Union state security act went into effect as Minister of Defence Danar Tassar made an announcement:

"At this moment the Mandalorians are in full retreat. We of the ministry of defence have decided to chase them down with our fleets up to Mandalorian territory to make sure they won't return for a long time.

We have no reason to suspect an ambush or an attack from one of the other super powers around us.

Thank you."

"We are deeply disappointed by this decision, Minister! You are dragging out a war that has ended, kicking people while they are down and no longer posing an immediate threat, and thus fuelling resentment that could in the future lead to war.

"That is absolutely outrageous, Senator! The Defence Minister is taking the only logical action in defence of the Union! If the Law of Motions allowed it, I would call for a motion of Sadness on YOU!"

"I agree with, and support minister Tassar's decision that we should take this opportunity to ensure that the Mandalorians understand that the Union is not to be trifled with. But I caution against dragging out the war purely for this purpose, the costs are too high."

[Senator Acehtoo of the Miomanian Colonists]

"The Miomanian Colonists also regret the continuation of war and the many new victims it would bring. While we do not support the motion of sadness in this matter, we do believe that haste should be made to seek peace. Have the Mandalorians been contacted to discuss peace?"

[Senator Danar Tassar]

"Dear Senators: At this moment, we encountered large battles between the Echani and the Mandalorians in sector 5 -5. We have decided not to intervene in this conflict. Our fleets are returning home and from this moment, the war can be officially made to an end."

[Senator Acehtoo of the Miomanian Colonists]

"Minister" the Miomanian senator inquired "Does this mean we can now stop paying war-taxes?"

"As the law of motions does not describe how a declaration of war can be retracted, or how the state of war can be ended, I second the motion to end the war, and propose that the chancellor opens an official vote to end the war and to rescind the war taxes."

[Senator Danar Tassar]

"To answer your question, Senator Acehtoo, we of the Consensus don't think its our place to single handedly declare the war to be over. Therefore, we second the proposal made by Minister Nehket Aeka."

[Senator Ght'Twwf of the Socialist Republic of Niom]

"The Socialist Republic of Niom proposes that rather than let this be handled by a vote, a committee is formed which can investigate how the war can be declared to be over."

"I have sent an offer of peace to the Mandalorian Fleets. In a week we shall know whether they are willing to cease hostilities."

"What are we going to do of they are not willing to cease hostilities? Going to assault their homelands surely is a terrible waste of precious money and lives."

"We indeed need to know what the Mandalorians do before we can say there is peace as both the Union and Mandalorians are involved. Maybe there will come a second attack when our fleets are in their docks repairing. Hopefully we get more intelligent otherwise we cannot make a wise decision."

[Nehket Aeka]

Senator Aeka reaised an eyebrow at senator Harek's, probably unintended, insult. She decided to ignore it and act as if the man had meant 'intelligence'.

"I have sent the Mandalorian fleets an offer of ending the war status quo ante bellum. I did so at 2013-12-29 with a deadline of a week later. This gives them another two days to react.

I propose we wait until we hear their answer or lack thereof, before we make further war plans."

"Fellow senators,

We received a reply this afternoon. Instead of just telling you the reply of the Mandalorian Fleets, I will show you how they have reacted after we offered them the option of ending the war status quo ante bellum."

The holoscreen turned on, displaying the message from the Mandalorian Fleets in very large letters.

Nehket Aeka waited for a moment to let the insult the Mandalorian Fleets addressed at the Union sink in.

"Their disregard for our offer, and the fact that they are clearly not willing to cease hostilities, warrant swift retribution. It is uneconomical to send military fleets. I propose that, instead of entering a drawn out war, we remove the current Mand'alor from power so the Mandalorian Fleets are once again reduced to infighting.

I move for Special Enforcement of the retirement of the current Mand'alor."

Peinaili added after Minister Nehket Aeka had offered her opinion to the senate.

"Continuing the war effort on their turf would be too costly, and frankly wouldn't resolve much. I will second the motion, removing the current Mandalor and his power base should resolve the problem for us."

"Such an insult can not go unpunished.

I agree that since the Union Defence Fleets are already returning back to Union territory another military actions on this scale would be unwise.

I second the motion for Special Enforcement as well."

"We of the ministry of Defence believe that such a special enforcement is much beneficial over a continuation of all out war. We also second this motion."

[Nehket Aeka]

"The motion of special enforcement is seconded by a non-minister senator. The motion carries. A vote will be opened on this issue forthwith."
