"Dear chancellor and esteemed prince Odakim V,

While your efforts to seek praise for worthy persons such your predecessors and much respected Jedi masters are commendable, you seems to forgotten to obide by our laws, which clearly state that members of the cabinets may not cast votes on the laws and amendments they propose.

I am however willing to believe that this matter was an oversight and in no way intended, I therefore submit that you ammend this propose so that members of th cabinet may no longer can vote on this subject so that the senate may decide on this important matter of honour."

Location: Unity
"Dear Chancellor," Tassar started with an especially dry tone, "you forgot the gentlemen agreement to add the option of 'NO, we want to keep the fleet names as they are'. Aside from this, we of the senate had no discussion of the names and the glorifying of people, and how to do so.

Therefore we of the Consensus Abstain from voting.

That being said, we favour the idea of paying respect to the influential people in the Union and personalise the very dry aspects of the Union."

"The Veolian Empire is of the opinion that it is not the task, neither literal nor figurative, of Jedi Masters to watch over the senate. Instead, we should let their reputation as powerful individuals bring fear to our enemies through their association with our fleets.

Chancellors belong in the senate, Jedi Masters do not."

"The Veolian Empire votes B."

"Our militairy prowess should be shown, even in the naming of our fleets. But naming them after politicians, with all due respect, seems to disrespect our militairy personnel, we find the naming after Jedi masters to be more appropriate.

The kingdom of Komès votes for option B."

"The Sundarian Federation feels that crediting the Jedi for their efforts in the war, though they may not seek this honour directly, is more appropriate. We vote option B."

"My fine Senators, the votes are in, so I hereby close the vote. These are the results:

  • 4 votes for option A
  • 4 votes for option B
  • 4 abstentions

As per the voting laws, section 7. III, if a vote has exactly 2 options and ends in a tie, the Chancellor casts the deciding vote. The Senate honours me by bowing out of this important decision in favour of my own insight.

I have decided that we shall implement option A, naming our fleets after our esteemed Chancellors, and hanging portraits of the Jedi Masters. Naturally I shall inaugurate UDF-RES-6 after myself in a glorious ceremony for which you are all invited!"
