[Chancellor Dewa Lanadi]

After the necessary administrative matters had been taken care off with the Union bureaucracy, the new veolian senator scheduled a short moment to address the union senate. To contrast with her predecessor, Dewa Lanadi has selected a decidedly more feminine outfit as her "clothes of office", instead of the traditional armour-styled clothing.


"Honoured senators, esteemed minsters and chancellor,

Starting today, I will be representing the Veolian Commonwealth in the capacity of senator.

I am taking over these responsibilies from lady Nehket Aeka, who has been recalled to Mirda after four years of fine service. She has asked me to inform you that she regrets not being here in person during this transition.

I look forward to participate on the democratic process with all of you, and have high hopes for cooperation between our respective worlds."

"Welcome, welcome Senator!" the Chancellor welcomed the new Veolian Chancellor with a warm voice and smile "Please, as a token of us welcoming you to the Senate, accept this small gift"

One of the Chancellors aids handed over a package to the aides Senator Dewa Lanadi had no doubt brought, and if not, then to the Senator herself. It was almost a meter tall, over half a meter wide and some ten centimetres thick.

"It's a portrait of me" the Chancellor revealed "when I was preparing the gallery of the Jedi masters, in accordance with a recent vote, I had a whole series made of myself so as to see what poses would best bring out their magnificence. I think you will agree the one I gave you is quite wonderful!"

The new veolian senator had the picture unwrapped on the spot, with one of her aides holding the picture up while the other smartly undid the wrapping.

She spends a moment looking at the picture before commenting.

"Thank you, chancellor, for this thoughful gift. I will be sure to hang it in a goldilocks corridor where it will get the right amount of attention; not too little, and not too much.

I take it you have also discussed the gallery with the Jedi masters? It would be a pity if we end up with a gallery that does not reflect the cultural values of the Jedi with regard to such things. After all, diversity is very important, and if we are to have a gallery of the masters, I think they ought to have a say in it. Who knows, they might even disagree with the whole notion."

"The Astai Republic welcomes you to the senate, Senator Dewa Lanadi. We hope to continue our prosperous cooperation with the Veolian Commonwealth under your tenure, may it be long and fruitful."

Senator Atheos made a small gesture of his hand and some Astai servants came out to hand over a package, roughly half the size of Odakim's present, a package of cloth wrapped in lint.

"In tradition, I too have brought a gift. It is the flag of the Astai Republic, the most sacred symbol of our great nation."

"Thank you, senator Atheos. I am flattered to receive it.", she replies with a genuine smile as an aide accepts the gift.

"I will be sure to display the flag in our embassy as a token of our worlds' continued friendship."

"Welcome, Senator Dewa Lanadi. We of the Teprogrenaian Consensus are looking forward working with you."
