Instead of the normal conference room, the chancellor called for a meeting in the secured conference room, clearly intending to discuss confidential matters.

"Ministers, as you are no doubt well aware the Silver Forests of Remunzia have been entertaining guests from the Slave Rebellion. I have called for this emergency meeting to discuss the information we have available, and to determine possible scenarios."

Regardless, the moment a deal is struck, the Silver Forests of Remunzia will have forced the hand of the Union and made us a target of the Hutt Families.

Because of this scenario, the Veolian Commonwealth has started readying its military for the worst case eventuality of immediate retalation by the Hutt."

She looks a the assembled ministers.

"This is as much as I am currently appraised of by the various agencies of the Union. Do you ministries have anything of information to add?"

The Astrian minister took a moment to read the mail provided by the chancellor. As he read, his expression grew dark. After he read the mail he looked at the other ministers and the chancellor.

"This is a grave matter." Kachiso started. "Even if the Silver Forests of Remunzia doesn't intend this as an act against the Union, it could still be considered a breach of article 2 of the Alliance Declaration. Based on the likeliness of war with the Hutt Families that would follow. I'm hesitant to make such accusations, because we lack information and the severity of the accusation."

"Never the less, we need to act on this. I believe we should start by asking the Silver Forests of Remunzia to give us insight into what exactly has been discussed and express our concerns in the Senate. If they refuse to do so, we will have a much better position to act from."

He paused for a moment.

"Unfortunately, we also need to consider the possibility that this is a hostile move from the Slave Rebelion. Though limited to only a few worlds, we do have slavery in the Union and great wealth. I wouldn't put it past them to hold a grudge over this."

"Regardless, the Astrian Colonial Navy is mobilising as we speak. We will be ready to help defend our allies should it become necessary."

"The Praetorian military is mobilizing as we speak. We came to the same conclusion with the little information we have at the moment.

The question is: Do we open a discussion in the senate. The Silver Forests of Remunzia are clearly ignoring the Union political structure since they are not including the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in their talks with another super power. Senator Atheos, how do you want to approach this?

I propose to call for a secured senate meeting. We should not allow for media exposure yet. We should not show a divided front towards other super powers."

"This is a very grave matter indeed. We shall take appropriate security precautions and increase threat levels on all our worlds.

As we see it, the most pertinent threats to the safety of the union are the infiltration by the slave rebellion and open war with the Hutt Families.

Apart from the other suggestions, we might add another one. As cabinet of the union we do not actually wish to draw in the slave rebellion. Using discrete agents we can make the Hutt see the light of this and instead point out to the Hutt families how any attention of the Slave rebellion towards the Union is attention the slave rebellion is not using to defend against Hutt attacks.

On the proposal of Minister Ardios, we are not opposed to a secured senate meeting. So that information can be gathered and our position more legitimized to other worlds."

"Let us not jump to conclusions. The Remunzians have maintained neutrality in many matters over the years. It would be out of character for them to make any form of military statement."

The minister of Justice advised

"Perhaps they are merely making a political statement against the practice of slavery by the Veolian Commonwealth. The negotiations might be nothing more than the sharing of a meal. If we overreact, it could provoke further hostilities."

"If this is a political statement against the practice of slavery it could and will be seen as hostile for some. I hope that you are right Minister Mathi-ey C'b'rton. We should let them explain the situation in the senate."
