"Fellow senators,
Due to the heroic efforts of the armies and fleets of many union worlds, including the brave few Remunzians who stood up against their occupiers, we have saved Remunzia from occupation.
The Slave Rebellion expelled and in retreat. The war is over.
Unfortunately, while the war is over, the impact of the war will be felt for years to come. The Remunzian homeworld has been heavily hit by the war. As were several of our armies and fleets. While many of our solders have returned home, others were not so fortunate—they will be dearly missed."
The chancellor is silent for a moment.
"Now is the time to look towards the recovery and restoration.
As we are no longer in a state of war, I hereby officially rescind the war taxes enacted in
296, in accordance with the vote for temporary war taxes. War taxes will no longer be collected starting 337.
Furthermore, I ask senator Salixa to present the senate with an assessment of the required restoration efforts on Remunzia. I cannot speak for all members of the Union, yet I am confident that everyone will be willing to assist in the restoration in their own way."
