"Fellow Senators,"

The Chancellor started, standing in the main senate building before a gathering not just of government officials, but press from all member states.

"Today is a historic occasion, not just for the Veolian Commonwealth and the Praetorian Empire, but for the Union as a whole. Senator Nehket Aeka and Senator Ardios Eldrilith will be taking up their posts as Minister of Defence and Minister of Foreign Affairs respectively.

As is customary, they shall be sworn in with a simple oath, as all ministers have taken before them upon coming into office: 'I hereby swear to carry out my office in the interest of the Union and in accordance with it's laws, to the best of my ability'.

These simple words have deep meaning, anchoring not just a person, but an entire nation into the Core of the Union. Please give a very warm welcome to Senator Nehket Aeka and Senator Ardios Eldrilith!"

That was the cue for the two senators to come up, take the oath and give their inauguration speech, as applause and cheering filled the room.

[Nehket Aeka]

Wearing a newly polished ceremonial armour, Senator Nehket Aeka stepped up, her eyes glowing intensely.

She took a moment to take in the vista of gathered senators, representatives and members of the press before solemnly saying: "I hereby swear to carry out my office in the interest of the Union and in accordance with it's laws, to the best of my ability."

After the oath she visibly relaxed, and continued.

"Fellow Senators,

We find ourselves in the a precious situation of peace. But even though no open hostilities are displayed against us we must not be lured into lowering our guard. We are surrounded by factions with strong histories of violence and oppression, and the Union should stand strong to protect it's members and their interests.

I will look for ways to increase the efficiency of the military apparatus, and support endeavours to maintain and increase our technological edge.

Thank you."

[Senator Ardios Eldrilith]

After Senator Nehket Aeka was finished Ardios Eldrilith stepped up. He looked calm as normal.

"Thank you Chancellor Acehtoo.

I hereby swear to carry out my office in the interest of the Union and in accordance with it's laws, to the best of my ability."

After a brief silence he continued.

"Fellow Senators,

As Senator Nehket Aeka said there are many other large factions around us. We should look for new trading opportunities and maintain peaceful relations with our neighbors.

I will look for ways to increase trade and support endeavors to maintain stability in the region.
