"I will keep this brief. To the outer rim side of our great Union, the Slave Rebellion and the Hutt Families are at war. At that time we already felt it crucial to invest more in our military, something that has been sorely lacking so far. And just a few weeks ago, we were most surprised to hear of a Mandalorian threat. How could Chancellor Acehtoo have missed this highly dangerous situation?
With the threat of war looming on all sides of the galaxy, the Union itself is in peril and we need a leader who takes these threats seriously. Can you tell your people that they are safe? Can you defend your freedoms against our common enemies? Can your world resist invasion?"
- The message was delivered with the Senators of Deominius and Bisidn standing behind the Excarian candidate, both immediately voicing their seconds for the candidacy.
((OOC: If you wish to discuss the military strategy of the Confederacy of Excaria or ask clarifications and positions on various issues, this is where to do it :)))

"Senator Bolv'ar, you talk of threats and ask questions about safety. However, Chancellor Acehtoo has made actual promises on what she will do in her next term.
What improvements for the union do you promise? As of now, though you broach important topics, I have yet to see a single actual commitment to this course."

"An excellent and fair question Senator," the Rodian nodded in acknowledgement "I propose first of all to aid member worlds in developing a stronger military of their own. Through subsidies, the development of defensive forces should be stimulated, so that member worlds are not wholly reliant on the Union for its defences.
Furthermore, I wish to stimulate the development of military technology by having the Union provide a budget with which to aid those who develop military technology. This budget would pay large parts of the research cost in exchange for sharing the technology throughout the Union.
I plan to pay for this by cutting into the transportation budget and postponing further expansions to the Bozzy Spine. We have made major steps in our Hyperspace Infrastructure already and I believe it is time to slow down until our defences are more up to the challenges reality places before us. Note however that I do not intend to touch the Bozzy Spine Connection Law with regards to new members, as most of this expense has already been made.
Now, before I give the floor to more questions, I want to add a point of clarification: it is my full intent to keep the peace and I will not sanction offensive measures unless they are absolutely necessary for the safety and security of the Union. As a result, the measures I propose are defensive, not offensive."

"Senator Bolv'ar, I have two questions:
How will you convince the other super powers in the galaxy our war fleets will not be for war.
And how do you plan to keep the economy of the union to flourish? It would be a shame the Union will suffer the same fate as the Teprogrenaian Consensus, although we are more or less safe now, our economy perished when we build The Cradle. I do understand the production of fleets is a much smaller scale, but you get the point."

“Dear senator Bolv’ar,
Having more ships or better weapons does not mean that you win a war. It is about strategy from the preparation until one surrenders. I understand that you want the Union to prepare for war, but that is costly and it takes time. The Union has various fleets but they have to learn how to fight together efficiently or else the investment in any fleets is easily blown away. All kind of scenarios have to be taken into account even friendship. More has the done for the Union as a whole before we are ready to maybe fight a war.
I know that military is your leading issues, but I am more curious what other plans you have for the Union. What are your thoughts about new members entering, colonization, laws, and collaboration between factions?”

"Oh on the contrary, Senator Danar Tassar. The economy is a foremost worry of mine. It is my belief that through stimulating the defence sector, we can stimulate the entire economy. Government spending can increase with true value being created as a result, and the economy can grow and learn from these projects.
I am not worried about the interpretation that other superpowers will make, for our primary investment will be in defensive technology and armament, not in offensive fleets that would be seen as a threat. We are certain that any who would spy on our efforts can see the difference between a war-fleet and a planetary shield, for example.
We believe a closer cooperation is necessary between factions, especially in military matters. A common threat can bring more cooperation than any pleasantries or economic interests. Other efforts will follow from that foundation. However, if expansions and colonization are your primary concerns, I do believe you should vote for the current Chancellor. My primary concern is to keep everyone safe and to help your world resist invasion."
