Flowery Field Trip

Mercury - Storyteller
The planet Qvavilebis, a small world in Sector 10 -6, has reported the upcoming blooming of the Qvavi flower after which the planet was named. The flower is twenty kilometres in diameter, and blooms once every few centuries when the planet approaches the sun from its strongly elliptical orbit.
The Jedi Council wishes to send a pair of Jedi to witness the event and gather data on the gigantic flower, plus it is a chance to see a once-in-a-lifetime event.
((OOC: This mission is open to up to two Jedi Padawans, with an expected posting frequency of twice a week. It will be a short mission. If successfully completed, the Jedi will receive a Force Power to either buy a new power or boost an existing power as they choose.
Please do not enter this mission if you already entered for a different one of the three missions I posted today, to prevent clogging up the missions.))

((OOC: Seeing how the other two missions were already filled (taking up 4 of the active Jedi), I would love to participate in this mission. However, I can not guarantee the posting frequency, and propose to start the mission the 28th.
If two others are earlier, they should go ahead and take this missions -- first come, first serve and such.))

Trigiel was pondering whether to go or not. At one hand watching a flower was not really his favourite time spending. While at the other hand it would do him good to do this kind of things as well to broaden his perspective and as a reminder what wonders the universe has to offer and what they are keeping the peace for.
At last he decided to enrol for the mission, deep down there he actually liked the beauty has to offer.
((OOC: I have no problem with a posting frequency of 1 time a week and/or start the 28th))

Soon, the ship was ready to leave with the two Jedi! They would be taking a public transport craft to the planet, since it was near Unity so with tickets in hand and carrying their luggage they would soon find themselves on the platform waiting for the craft along with the other passengers.
((OOC: I will presume twice a week posting frequency. Please give me a list of what you are bringing ^_^))

Ajava went to Quartermaster Nishra to get the necessary measurement equipment.

- Measurement Equipment
- Her blue lightsaber (waterproofed by Darones)
- Her composite recurve bow, with 35 durasteel-tipped arrows
- Headset communicator
- A normal brown Jedi robe
Because of the size of the plant, it couldn't hurt to get two sets of measurement equipment, so Trigiel also gets some as well. For as far as it is possible, he tried to build the equipment into his body. He also asked for a speeder bike, and when he noticed that Shebi Ajava didn't brought one, he asked for two. That is if it was possible to bring the bikes along on the public transport. If it was not possible to bring along bikes, he packet in a jet pack as Trigiel had no idea what the hight was of the flower.

With their equipment sorted out, the two Jedi got onto the public transport, which took off from Unity to make its way into hyperspace with some rough shocking of the ship that made it clear the stabilizers needed recalibrating.
The ship was crowded and very cramped, with everyone sitting on top of one another and there barely being enough room to walk, giving the two Jedi the distinct impression that the Jedi Council had given this mission quite a limited budget.
With them in the passenger area were a Gamorrean Sow and her 7 young children who were busy annoying everyone, pulling on one another's ears while the mother grunted to them to stop, an elderly human lady who moved around at the speed of a snail using a walker which now stood in the middle of the path while she knitted something, a muscular Zabrak male and his practically naked Theelin girlfriend who were all over each-others lips as if this was the room they had been told to get, a Quarren who didn't speak Galactic Basic and four annoyed looking Ithorians accompanied by a Rodian man.
Topping this all off, the air conditioning seemed to be blocked up, leaving the area growing uncomfortably hot, so when the Quarren began what he no doubt thought was singing, but which instead consisted of an incoherent mix of shrill shrieks and low moans with neither rhyme nor reason, the two Jedi realised this was going to be a very, very long trip.

"I am sooo glad I am a cyborg at this moment" Trigiel said. At least his cyborg body gave him some comfort against the heat. He looked around to see if he could do something to make this trip a little less unpleasant, but the crowded place in combination with all the different aspects of psychological hinder made it practically impossible to actually do something. For a moment he thought about showing his lightsabers, but that wouldn't help with anything so he decided to stand at a place where he could stand.
"I can stand if you like a place to sit, I don't mind." He said to Ajava. Seeing how the Gamorrean children were a nuisance for everybody, Trigiel was going to calm those little kids down a bit first. He listened if they spoke galactic basic, if they did so, he tried his best to walk to them to do a mind trick: "Kids, you will behave yourself during this trip. You will be strong and endure till the end of this trip in peace."
If the children did not know Galactic Basic, Trigiel emitted an aura of calmness and tried to make his point with handsigns and other ways of communication. (Putting a ginger on the lips of the children and say ssshh, stuff like that.)
Now that the children were quiet, he tried to make is way back to Ajava and was going to stand in a position so that he didn't had to see the Zabrak and the Theelin. Not that he was disgust by the sight of two people making love, he was disgust by the sight of two of such ugly, fat creatures with tumour like roundings everywhere and proportions which where just wrong in the eyes of a teprogrenus. "I think I will shut down my audio receptors and will meditate for the duration of the trip."
((Check: 10 = 6 Force Level + 3 Energy + 1 Mind Trick -- for calming the children))
((OOC: I don't know how mind trick works, do you need to talk the person for mind trick, or is simply emitting your intention good enough? I suppose Trigiel does know though as he is a Jedi))

"This is absurd. The Veolian Commonwealth actually doubles their contribution to the jedi order, and we get stuck in public transportation.", Ajava sounded less than amused. "I think I will ask quartermaster Nishra what the policy is on use of the Jedi Temple launchpads and hangars when we get back."
After checking that the old lady had a place to sat, Ajava was glad that Trigiel didn't mind standing. "Thank you.", she says as she sits down.
While Trigiel was busy with the Gamorrean kids, which Ajava thought a hopeless endeavour, she glanced over at the couple. Feeling slightly jealous, she kept her eye on the pair since Trigiel was now busy with explaining to the little gang of noise makers that they should be silent.
The lack of shouting kids drew her attention, and she looked back at Trigiel.
"But, Trigiel, if you shut down your ears you won't be able to listen to the most magnificent singing of that Quarren over there.", Ajava joked back. "If you want to do something useful, try and fix the air conditioning. That will instantly make you the hero of the day."

"The disharmonious viber saws and welding droids at The Cradle make a more musical composition than that Quarren." Trigiel answered. "I have thought of fixing the air conditioner, but there are 3 problems with that: First, I need to disassemble the thing, and there is no space for that, second, I cannot reach the air conditioner properly, and third, I don't have a tool kit with me."
Trigiel continued, a little softer, as he was scarred that someone might hear him over the loud singing Quarren:" The stabilizers need calibration as well and I have the feeling that the amount of people here goes way over the maximum amount of allowed passengers. If you feel light headed or have any other symptoms of lack of oxygen, I should have a look at the air recycler immediately. But I am not going to touch the thing in this environment in the middle of hyper space if not absolutely necessary.
The flower blooms for a long period right? Because then I can patch this ship when we have arrived at Kwafilebis. That would make the trip for the next passengers a lot more comfortable."

"Qvavilebis, with a qva instead of a kwa, and a soft v.", Ajava corrected Trigiel. "Maybe your speech synthesis is suffering under these conditions?", she winked at Trigiel.
"Let's just sit this out. We'll be there in a few hours if I am not mistaken, and then we can get of this insult of a vessel."
"Let's just sit this out. We'll be there in a few hours if I am not mistaken, and then we can get of this insult of a vessel."
"I agree, maybe it is better to disable the ship at arrival to prevent anyone from suffering any longer with trips in this rusty can. That is actually a lot easier than tying to patch it."

The Gamorrean mother reacted almost instantly when Trigiel moved to speak to them, standing up and protruding her huge belly - which seemed to be round by fatness, not pregnancy - towards the Jedi.
"Are those yours!?" she stated, deeply offended "Go raise your own!" Clearly Trigiel had not made a friend here in the woman. The children were silent now, but the mother sure wasn't! "Why do they allow half-droids in here anyway!?"
Suddenly the ship dropped out of hyperspace, people falling over one another as the ships regular engine shocked into action. Below, Trigiel could hear a -clunk- as the two speeder bikes they had brought fell over in the densely packed cargo hold. Just as sudden, there was another shock as the regular engine shut off and the hyperspace engine re-engaged for another jump, people falling in the other direction.
Apparently the inertia dampening wasn't up to par either. What a mess.
About ten seconds later the ship shook wildly again, an eight Gamorrean child that had been hidden inside the luggage falling out of an overhead compartment and on top of the 'singing' Quarren, after which it started shrieking like a piglet stuck under a tram, the Quarren moving to toss it through the room thinking it some sort of alien pig.
"Ladies, gentlemen and other gendered and non-gendered beings, " the pilot spoke through the speaker interface "We are experiencing some minor turbulence, please return to your seats and fasten your seatbelts if your seat has them available."
The entire area had a distinct lack of proper seatbelts.
"There is no reason to panic!!" the co-pilot added to quickly reassure everyone.

"So many unmannered people around here." Trigiel though out loud when the Quarren moved to toss the baby through the room. After the announcement of the pilot Trigiel said to Ajava: "Turbulence in space?" Just loud enough so the other passengers wouldn't hear it. "Something is fishy. I go check it out."
First Trigiel took a look if there was any way out of this room. There wasn't anything to check out if there was no way out of here.
If there was a way out of here, he tried to make his way to there carefully taking another route than he did before. The room was already crowded, and him trying to make his way through did not help much so better not bother the same people multiple times. 'Luckily I have not the Colossus body installed,' he thought.
When there were doors stopping him, he used the force to open them. With telekinesis he either flipped the switch to open the door, or just to open the door immediately.
If somebody was stopping him, his first idea was to say either that he was looking for the toilet, that he was an expert mechanic and wanted to help or that he was form the inspection. He wanted to let the force guide his excuse to what he thought was the most effective way to talk his way through. But then he had to be careful that his excuses wouldn't backfire.
But then, what could they do to stop him? Trigiel actually had nothing to fear as he was a jedi and the pilot clearly needed some help with this ship. They had to fear, or actually adore him as he could walk in space with his cyborg body. So he threw all his previous ideas over board and went for the effective approach: If somebody wanted to stop him, he said he was a jedi and that the ship clearly could use his help. Those who actively opposed him were easily dispatched with a simple mind trick. When personnel did not wanted his help, or did not wanted to help him, a simple mind trick would help as well to gain their assistance.

Ajava didn't understand Trigiel's need to calm these people down, as there was only so much that could be done here. When the pilot finished his less-than-convincing security notice, she looked around to see what the squealing piglet was about.
Seeing how Trigiel was already on his way to help out with the ship, Ajava decided to go after him to help smooth over any of Trigiel's social ineptness. It was clear that something should be done about the ship, and making sure Trigiel could do his job was the best help Ajava could be at the moment.

((OOC: You are currently unsure whether or not you are in hyperspace as you cannot look outside. You remember feeling like you were jumping back into hyperspace a few moments ago. Hyperspace does sometimes have turbulence but generally only in area's with gravity wells or when the ship itself is bad. In Sector 10 -6 where you are there shouldn't be much turbulence.))
Making his way to the service door - which was marked as strictly prohibited for passengers - Trigiel made his way into the crew section of the vessel.
Seeing nobody, except Shebi Ajava following him and hearing nothing except the Ithorian passengers complaining about passengers breaking the rules, they continued through the narrow service hallway to the ships cockpit.
He was about to open the door to the cockpit when he noticed the blue light of hyperspace shining in, checking a moment to realize that he was seeing the trail of the ship travelling to hyperspace instead of the cockpit.
As Shebi confirmed his observation through the small window in the door, a rather unpleasant realization dawned on him: this ship wasn't designed as a passenger carrier, but it was a retrofitted cargo-ship. The cockpit was normally the only area carrying passengers... and as such, it doubled as the escape pod... which appeared to have just detached itself from the bulk of the ship to carry the pilot and co-pilot to safety.

Trigiel was baffled for a second of the idiocy of the situation. "I am going to kill that pilot if we die here."
Now that he was over his initial fear of being trapped in a drifting piece of junk in hyperspace, he began to analyse the situation: "Okay, at least we have some space and silence here to talk and think.
Our current situation: We are in hyperspace in the cargo hold of a freighter with no pilot and cockpit. This means that we have a hyperdrive and that the ship is seriously broken.
We could try to escape hyperspace here and now. But this would probably result either in ending up in a star or so, or in the middle of space with no help passing by ever. I have nutrients for some weeks, and if I hook myself up at the power supply of the ship I can hold on for a few weeks or even months, but I guess you cannot. So we must make an actual plan to arrive safely somewhere where we can be rescued.
Lets make an exploratory trip through the 'restricted' area's and see what we can find. Maybe there are emergency controls in the engine room. We need to find: what is so wrong that the pilot ejected to safety, the current power supply, controls, the engine room and the emergency beacon. If we can't find anything, we can always disable the hyperdrive to drop out of space.
I think it is better to not tell the other passengers the real situation to prevent a panic breakout. If they found out, better to stay calm and calm them as well. Maybe some of them has equipment we can use to fix the situation, but therefore we first need to find out what we need."
If Ajava did not had a better plan, Trigiel started to investigate the restricted areas of the ship. He tried to find: The current power supply and the amount of power left, the engine room, controls and what was wrong with the ship.

Ajava did not usually enjoy space flight, and this was no exception. Normally, she would take her onyx suit with her on travel, but as they would be using public transportation she had deemed that unnecessary. Apparently 'public transportation' in the Union was not what she was used of 'public transportation' on Mirda; though in hindsight, she doubted the veracity of of the name 'public transportation' of the transportation she used on Mirda.
"Trigiel, I have little knowledge about space flight or hyperspace mechanics. I know that stopping in mid-flight is a bad idea. Let me handle the passengers when things go wrong, you focus on getting us out of this death trap alive."
She followed him to assist where possible, and was on the lookout for things that seemed out of place.

((OOC: I don't specifically mention the results of your skill check because its easier writing for me, but I did take them into account in this post))
Trigiel searched, but he soon realised just how horrible the state of this ship was - the original control panel for the power supply had been replaced and in its stead was a bunch of tangled up wires, haphazardly connected to one another in a way that probably didn't make sense to the original engineer either. Following the wire, Trigiel soon found that one of them was a figure eight connected to itself - it wasn't even hooked up to anything! It was enough to make any mechanic cry, but in the current situation, it made things rather worse.
Ajava meanwhile managed to find a hatch that led into the cargo hold where their speeder bikes were stored. That didn't help much, but at least they'd be able to access the cargo... or something.
Suddenly there was a bleep, and a hiss, as if something powering up, a CRT monitor blinking on displaying the company logo as a pleasant female voice spoke:
"It looks like you are trying to access the emergency systems. Would you like help?"
In his search for the power supply, engine room or controls, Trigiel had managed to accidentally activate the ships computer system.

Shebi Ajava - PC
Surprise to hear a female voice, Ajava looks up. Once she realizes it is the emergency system, she quickly walks over to where Trigiel activated it.
"Yes! We are stranded in hyperspace, and both designated pilots are unavailable. What options are available through this system?", Ajava spoke quickly.

Trigiel wanted to know a lot more, but as the system could answer only one question at a time, it wouldn't help to fire thousand questions at it. As he needed to know what their options were, he stayed with the system and impatiently waited for its respond.

Mercury - Storyteller
"If you are stranded in hyperspace, proceuder is to return to the cockpit and engage the emergency escape system, which will allow you to safely separate from the main cargo section." the system helpfully explained "The cockpit is currently unavailable due to NULL" it continued, the last word being rather out of phase with the rest of the sentence.
This was going to be really helpful, and from the sound of its voice, the system actually believed it was being helpful by telling them to go to a disconnected part of the ship.
"Do you wish to...

- Read the passenger manifest
- Read the cargo manifest
- Read the automated logs
- Access the internal sensors
- Access the external sensors
- Access the hyperdrive engine
- Access the navigation computer
- Access the power system
- Access the life support systems
- Access the intercom
- Access the communications array
- Activate the emergency beacon
- Activate the self-destruct mechanism
- File an official complaint or suggestion
- Return to main menu
"Why do I have the feeling that one of these functions accidentally is connected to the self-destruct mechanism and we are standing before a bomb to guess which wire not to cut...?" Trigiel said to Ajava. At first he wanted to access the power system, but then he remembered that the control panel for the power system was disconnected, so there was little chance that this system could give any useful information.
"Well, here goes nothing: Computer, access the navigation computer." If the computer actually gave a useful interface for the navigation computer, Trigiel tried to figure out if the ship still had a safe access point to normal space. If this was the case, then at least didn't had to change anything in there.
If the ship no longer had a safe access point to hyperspace, Trigiel was forced to make one, which of course was highly dangerous, but he felt like he had didn't had better options. He tried to change course to the biggest open space of emptiness he could find in the hope to not crash with any kind of gravity wells.
After the navigation computer did or did not provide anything useful, Trigiel tried to access the internal sensors. Everything was wrong with this ship and he had to know what it was. Next to the internal sensors he wanted to read the automated logs to see what was wrong.
His next step would be accessing the power system. Maybe this computer actually was attached and it would be reassuring they had enough power, or not...
As last he activated the emergency beacon, but getting safe out of hyperspace had priority.
If at any moment the computer system thought that the most helpful action would be activating the self-destruct system, Trigiel immediately tried to deactive it, starting with: "computer, deactivate self-destruct mechanism," or "sudo, deactivate self-destruct mechanism."
He communicated every step clearly with Ajava and was open for suggestions and better ideas.
((Check: 10 = 6 Force Level + 4 Reason -- For operating the computer))
((Check: 12 = 6 Force Level + 4 Reason + 2 Pilot -- For navigating safely out of hyperspace.))
((OOC: Sorry for the many actions in a row, but I didn't want to spend 10 posts scrolling through a menu.))
