[Jedi Master Screetor]

Jedi Master Screetor was the first to arrive in the Council hall where the cabinet of the Union and the Jedi Council would meet - perhaps some of them virtually - to discuss the Jedi conflict with the Mandalorians. He patiently awaited the arrival of the others.

((OOC: I will not be running this as a storyline, but Cabinet members and Jedi Masters may freely interact here and discuss idea's. Since there is currently a Jedi Mission under-way and developments are going fast, I suggest that these are actually a collection of meetings which take place during the war storyline, which may involve hearing Padawans either for future missions or for current ones.))

[Jedi Master Qun Treen]

One of the holoprojectors in the room switched on.

"Master Screetor", the holo image of master Qun Treen greeted Screetor with a nod.

[Senator Ardios Eldrilith]

Chancellor Ardios Eldrilith arrived at the Jedi temple in person.

He greeted the Jedi Masters with a bow.

"Thank you for meeting us on such short notice."

Ardios waited for the others to arrive.

[Nehket Aeka]

The minister of foreign affairs, the veolian senator Nehket Aeka, arrived at the same time as the chancellor.

She too greeted the jedi masters with a bow.

[Jedi Counselor Gri'pan]

As Gri'pan entered the room she could see some people where already in the room. She smiled as she gave a small bow to everyone.

"Master Screetor and Qun Treen" she said politly.

[Atheos]

Senator Atheos of the ministery of commerce arrived after Jedi Counselor Gri'Pan. He bowed to everyone in the room and then took up a position in the corner. Not expecting to add much as the ministery of commerce.

[Master Leithor]

Master Leithor stepped from a shadow. The members of the cabinet could have sworn he wasn't there before.

"My apologies for being a bit late." He said giving a small bow to the other masters and the ministers.

[Senator Danar Tassar]

Tassar arrived as well: "Avé" he greeted, and made a small bow towards the masters.

[Master Meridan]

Slowly an elderly women is entering the room. She has a bag with her with knitting needles and yarn.

"Good evening ladies and gentleman."

She makes a small bow and walks towards a comfortable looking chair and sits down. She takes a look around and grabs her stuff out her bag. It is a big long blue and yellow something. She continues her work while looking and listening towards the others.

[Senator Ardios Eldrilith]

"Masters and Ministers,

Thank you for meeting here. We are gathered here to discuss the role of the Jedi in the Mandalorian conflict.

As you are all aware the Jedi are helping the Union on missions and recently started defending the senate. We are grateful for the tasks that the Jedi perform at the moment, but we would like to explore options to get the Jedi more involved in the defence of the Union.

What is the position of the Jedi Council on the war with the Mandalorians?"

[Jedi Master Qun Treen]

"Chancellor, we are saddened by the War and its resultant violence. Some of our number have expressed a wish to assist the Union, others have cautioned against undue interference."

The Jedi master looked at the assembled cabinet.

"The Jedi are a force of balance, not of war. We are keepers of peace, not soldiers and generals."

[Jedi Counselor Gri'pan]

"I agree with Master Qun Treen". Gri'pan replied while slowly nodding

"As you stated Chancellor Ardios Eldrilith we try to help in the defence of the people of the Union. And we will continue to defend innocent lives where ever we can. However the chances of thinking us like a strike force is out of the question. However I do not think this you came to us without a plan. What would of want from the Jedi order to help in this war if i may ask"

Gri'pan shifted forward in her seat leaning her head on her hands. Pondering about the situation and about the words of the senators.

[Senator Ardios Eldrilith]

"Since the Jedi are a central factor in keeping the Union together we believe that the Jedi deserve rank in the Union Defence forces.

To be clear this is NOT a draft where we summon any of you to fight at the front line. This is mainly the respect that the Jedi deserve. If you are in need of assistance during one of your missions you could contact a nearby fleet and assume command over a squadron to ensure the mission is a success. Although if any of you would decide to join our forces and help defend against the Mandalorians we would applaud the choice.

As you all might agree, war is not a place for children. Therefore I believe that every adult padawan could receive the rank of lieutenant and every Knight and Master could receive the rank of General in the Union Defence Forces. Formalizing this matter could make things easier when you are in the field.

Before we vote about this in the Senate I would like to hear what the Jedi think about this idea."

[Jedi Master Monifa]

"Chancellor, you understand that when the jedi receive a rank in the Union Defence forces, they are implied part of the Union armies and fleets. Although we would like to assist the Union, we cannot just accept a military rank and its implications. Can you guarantee that this proposal will not become a draft, either by you, the senate or any future chancellor?

By giving a military rank to the jedi, they are implied to be summoned to the front line, if not by you, then by the minister of defense. We might not be forced to do so, but people will expect us to be soldiers since we wear the ranks of soldiers. Why not introduce the rank of jedi into the Union Defense forces. This creates the same influence, but with more respect within the armies.

This also makes sure that we as the council can decide which jedi are ready for the responsibility which comes with the rank of lieutenant and general, rather than that this responsibility is forces upon them."

[Master Meridan]

"I think a knight would do well as colonel, but acknowledging our ranks is simpler and relations will not be disturbed."

Master Meridan stops with knitting and looks up.

"Jedi and soldiers are quite different. As Jedi we solve most problems in a peaceful way whereas soldiers are focused on combat. The Union and Jedi need to collaborate if we want to survive. Therefore we carefully need to selected the right people or resource from each other to be successful.

What we need is good intelligence and agreements of our relations."

[Darones Rei]

Only minutes after they had arrived back on Unity, T'Sal and Darones bursted into the Council chambers, rather rudely disturbing the meeting, with little to no regards for the guest, their masters or even their own appearance...

Realising what they had walked into, Darones quickly adjusted and struck some dust of his clothes before making a bow

"Excuse the interruption Masters," He started " and my appologies to you Chancellor, Ministers, for this intrusion but we felt that we had to barge in right away. Our mission to the city of Weht has been a success and we felt that the information we managed to procure warrants your immediate attention."

Darones quickly handed of the Data Crystal which stored all the information they recovered.

"Most importantly perhaps is the reason why the current Mandalore has been able to maintain his hold over the others. The intelligence suggests that he is working with at least a dozen Sith warriors, our own encounter with a Sith warrior as we tried to escape might be considered some proof to that fact."

[Jedi Master Qun Treen]

"Thank you padawan", the jedi master sounded less than amused with the sudden interruption, "Wait outside the council chambers please."

Only when the over-enthusiastic padawan had left the chambers, did the master continue.

"You have our opinion on your proposal, Chancellor. We look forward to your proposal."

"As to the sudden interruption. It seems that the Union's efforts to secure intelligence have not been in vain."

[Senator Ardios Eldrilith]

"Thank you for your advice masters.

Could you tell us more about this new Intelligence? Since the war is not going completely in our favor at this moment this news is most welcome."

[Master Meridan]

After reading the report master Meridan answer the minister.

"Like Padawan Darones Rei has said it seems the current Mandalor has support from the a least a dozen Siths. So it looks help from Jedi is needed for various missions. Furthermore their is detailed information about the Mandalorians weapons and defense systems. This needs to be passed to the Union forces so they use this crucial information. There is also some intelligence information about their plans."

[Jedi Master Qun Treen]

Master Qun Treen nodded sagely at the words of master Meridan.

After a moment of silence, he spoke.

"Chancellor, is there anything else you wish to discuss at this moment?"
