((OOC: This thread is private to Shebi Ajava, and nothing in here is publicly known.

First off, this thread is not going to give any XP reward, and will not count as a mission. Secondly, as agreed with the ST, this thread will have a slightly different setup than usuall Jedi missions. Instead of doing the whole thing myself, Ajava will instead have to come up with a plan, and acquire the necessary resources to execute the plan.))

Ajava had spent considerable time considering her current situation. One of the more immediate problems was the fact that she couldn't be in more than one place at the same time; meaning she always had to do everything herself. This made it difficult to go out and arrange whatever needed arranging. Anything she wanted to do would have to be low profile, or someone would go and notice the pattern of her absence.

Ajava trusted in the force, and had meditated on the problem. As she meditated, she saw shards of something new. She saw slivers of visions. Visions of structures and buildings. Visions of space ships in combat. Visions of ancient ruins rebuilt as new. Visions of people carrying lightsabers, but they were not Jedi. At that moment she hadn't seen an immediate solution, but she was sure that one would present itself eventually. So she went about her daily business.

Once she overheard that Tera, the human girl she captured and brought back during an investigation, was to be transported to the Unity prison she knew what she would do. She would break out the girl, and make the girl hers.

She focussed her efforts. As a Jedi Knight, she was capable of accessing a lot of information, and it wasn't even weird for her to be interested, after all: she helped capture the girl. She also freed up a sizeable sum of credits through safe, and previously arranged, channels.

Now, while sitting in the privacy of one of the less reputable cantina's wearing a nondescript, Shebi Ajava reviewed all information on the transport of Tera again on her datapad.

General overview: Transportation of prisoners
Tera will be transported soon. She will be transported to the Unity secure prison that is located about 500 km outside of the Unity city dome. She will not be the only prisoner that is transported at that time. There are three other prisoners where one is flagged as a high priority prisoner. These other three prisoners will come from the Unity police station on Union and will be transported together with Tera. A jedi knight is tasked with the mission to safely escort the prisoners into the Unity secure prison. He will do this together with his padawan.

Tera is currently located in the cell block in the basement of the Jedi temple. The cell block is guarded by three patrolling Jedi and a squad of normal guards that protect and patrol the entrance to the cell block and the cell that Tera is located in. Clearance is required to see any prisoner in the block, and visits will be logged. There are air ducts that can be used to reach the cell block which are relatively unprotected. There are some drops of 4 meters high and it is unavoidable to make some noise while crawling through them. Also some laser sensor grids can be expected.

The transport will exist of three hovercars: Two hovercars with guards, and an armoured hovercar for the prisoners. The route of the convoy will be chosen last minute. The train will be waiting inside the train station building. The convoy will enter the train station and inside the prisoners are transferred from the convoy to the train.

The train exists of several rail cars which are connected with power couplings and plasma bridges. When exiting Unity city, the train will go through a special force field which will only allow the train, and train like objects to go through. Non shielded objects cannot pass the field.

During the trip the train will go around 500 km/h so the trip will take approximately one hour. At the prison, the train will stop inside the prison compound, (again through a force field) where the prisoners are unloaded.

The prison itself is mostly underground. There are many guards and camera's and security droids patrolling and monitoring the prison. Outside there are search lights non-stop checking the area. In the prison there are also several security checkpoints and force fields to protect against prison breaks and wall breaches. The area around the prison is restricted airspace.

((OOC: This is the general overview. You can get more details by reading specific sections.))

Ajava doesn't really like the idea of the operation coming to close to the Jedi temple. The prison appears to be problematic as well. So, that leaves te convoy and the train trip.

Ajava starts reading up on the transportation. She is particularly interested in how Tera is brought from the temple to the Unity police station, as this seems to be missing in the summary. She also reads up on details on the convoy cars, things like manufacturer, whether the convoy vehicles are already selected, and whether the convoy is connected to the Unity Traffic Routing and Collision Avoidance System, and to see whether there is anything on the selection of the route.

((OOC: I would like a commitment on posting frequency. I propose 2/week.))

Transport from temple to station
Although the route the convoy will take will be chosen last minute, it is most likely that they will start at the jedi temple. The routes so far known are:
  1. The convoy starts at the temple, then the convoy will go to the police station where the other prisoners are loaded inside the convoy. After which the convoy will ride to the train station.
  2. The convoy starts at the police station, then goes to the jedi temple and then goes to the train station.
  3. The convoy takes Tera to the train station, then the convoy goes to the police station for the other prisoners and brings them to the train station in a second run.
  4. The convoy first brings the other prisoners to the train station, and then goes back to fetch Tera from the jedi temple.
In all cases, it appears that the convoy will stop at the front door of the jedi temple, where Tera will be escorted into the armoured vehicle, and that the convoy will go within the fences of the police station to load in the prisoners. Other, less likely, options are that the convoy will load in the prisoners and Tera via back entrances for both cases, or via a private landing pad in Tera her case.

There is a small note that the whole convoy might be a decoy and that the prisoners are transported via civilian hover cars. However there are no leads found to actually back this idea.

The cars for the convoy are standard Unity city armoured S.W.A.T. vehicles. Which are manufactured by Ocnel armoured vehicles, a subset of Ocnel industries. The types are already selected, but the specific vehicles depend on what vehicles are available. The first and the last car are Remmuh armoured escort hovercars, the transportation vehicle is a Ognid 2 armoured hover van. These hovercars are normally connected to the Unity Traffic Routing and Collision Avoidance System (UTRACAS) but in case of any event they can active an override and take full control of the vehicles themselves.

((OOC: Let's stick to a minimum of 1 post per week. I will try to go for 2 but won't promise anything.))

Based on this information, Ajava has a few ideas on possible points of weakness, but nothing conclusive yet.

Based on what she now knows, Ajava decides to read a bit more about the train station and the train. She is interested in the train type, whether it is only guidance based or fully track based.

She also reads up on the different Unity districts that lie in between the temple, the police station and the train station, as well as the districts that each of these locations are in themselves. She is looking for routes that might possibly go near less-than-perfectly-safe neighbourhoods.

Since uncertainty seems to be a big factor in the transport of Tera, she also has a look at the map of Unity surrounding the temple and the police station. She is looking for good vantage points from which the locations could be monitored for the transfer of Tera to the convoy.

train
The train station is a secured building with camera's and limited access points. It will be hard to access the building without being detected or creating a serious decoy first, but it is not impossible.

The train is a type B Onilodnep hover train. The tracks consist of 10 meter high guidance poles every 200 meters. There is a redundancy system with two poles, a right and a left one, with space between them. One pole can be disabled without actually having any effect on the train. So to stop the train via the guidance poles, both need to be disabled. The poles are heavily armoured, so in order to destroy them by means of explosives, real heavy duty explosives are required. Not the kind you can easily find on the black market.

When two poles are disabled, the train will be unable to further move forward. It can go back again but this require some time as the magnetic power couplings need to be reversed, which takes a few moments. When the four poles on both sides of the train are disabled, the train will decent to the ground. To get it back up would require a large scale maintenance team with cranes.

Between the poles is enough space for a small hover car with some careful steering. It is dangerous but possible.

Unity districts
There are different districts, from shady slum-like districts to expensive and luxurious shopping districts. Most of the routes will likely go by high ways. (Fast straight lines high in the air), though it is inevitable to go through some districts, even the ones with less than perfect security.

Near the temple and the police station are some good vantage points. The train station is more remote, the buildings there are lower so there are not any good places with a wide overview.

The best vantage point for the Temple would probably be in the presidential suite of the Nothling Hotel, a rather expensive suite. The cheaper suites also provided good vantage points, but lacked the balcony which made the Presidential suite so suitable.

Near the Police station were some good vantage points as well, however all these points were inside private buildings of civilians.

((OOC: I lacked some decent inspiration to make good fluffy descriptions :(.))

((OOC: No worries, a summary of the information is good enough, in fact; in cases like these, it makes it easier to read ^_^))

As she reads the details on the train and the routes, Ajava spots a lot of the difficulties any team would have with stopping the train, regardless of their training. An attack on the in-city transport seems much more likely to succeed. Of course, that would also mean that any security would have an easier time with reacting.

She sits in the cantina for a while, brooding over the datapad. She lets her mind wander to sift through the things she knows, and to find new relations and patterns from what she already knows. While the larger part of her brain is doing that, she keeps an eye on the cantina's low-quality holoscreen currently airing reruns of 'Politicians Revealed'.

After an hour and a half, a plan dawned. It would need some polishing, but the basics were solid. Instead of trying to assault the convoy itself, she could split the convoy and thereby remove a large part of the problem. She sets to work on detailing the plan, and its requirements. Of course, she does so mentally, as leaving a trail of notes wouldn't be wise.

At the end of her work, she mentally summarizes the requirements, the execution and the roles that should be filled. Though her special ops training would allow her to plan out and execute the plan herself, she plans on hiring a team of freelance "retrieval specialists". That way, she can just be in the Jedi temple, which provides her with a solid alibi (not that she predicts she needs one, but it never hurts to be careful).

She knows that the team will need at least the following gear and locations:
  • Gear:
    1. Decoy transport (+driving agent; pref. Droid) -> Ognid 2 armoured hover van
    2. knock-out grenades, gas masks
    3. Transmission sweeper
    4. 3 getaway cars roughly the same appearance
    5. Secondary getaway car, not like the first three
    6. Change of clothes
  • Tunnel with:
    1. 2 Side tunnels (for decoy transport ingress and real transport egress)
    2. Main tunnel lighting coupled to local power grid
  • 3 Hand-off sites:
    1. surveillance sites
    2. all sites far enough from each other and the tunnel to prevent quick surveillance

In the ideal situation, the execution of the plan will result in a smooth and unnoticed replacement of the real transport van with a decoy while the tunnel-lights experience a short-term power failure.
  1. Observe transport initiation
  2. Synchronize with convoy entering tunnel
  3. Cut power to tunnel lighting (and security cameras if installed)
  4. Use UTRACAS to swap out real transport with decoy
  5. Use UTRACAS to move real transport to closed off side tunnel
  6. Restore power to tunnel lighting only
  7. Assault real transport in side tunnel
    1. Lead+Mercs engage security forces (focus on non-Jedi combatants, to keep jedi busy with saving lives)
    2. Use knock-out gas grenades + gasmasks
    3. Secure target; leave other prisoners if present
    4. Sweep Tera for tracking devices
  8. Put real transport back into traffic rotation, to throw off tracking devices
  9. Transport Tera to handoff with getaway car
    1. Deploy two decoy getaway cars with the same appearance
    2. Offer change of clothes to Tera
  10. All three getaway cars will make for a possible hand-off location, each getaway car will be parked and burned at the hand-off site
  11. Secondary getaway car to move Tera to extraction pick up
  12. Extract Tera through smuggling route

Ajava will need to hire three specialists to create her team:
  • Hitter
  • Hacker
  • Smuggler
The team will have to do some additional recruiting to get the necessary support crew of Mercenaries, Drivers and Spotters.

She decides to start recruiting first, which she does through some of her shadier contacts on Unity. She allocates a large chunk of the credit chits she has safely stored away for hiring the necessary specilialists. This is a high-risk high-reward operation, and she wants to hire the best.

In the meantime, she can look into things like Unity police communication frequencies and other information that improves the chances of success.

From the possible bounty hunters and other mercenaries Ajava was able to reduce the amount of options to the following:

  • Carl Hok: A Caldoss bounty hunter. He is a good tactician, with a balanced kit of gadgets and skill. He don't mind working alone or with a group, he only cares about the money.
  • Rastor Fettra: A bounty hunter from Mandalorian origin, but left long ago and went his own way. Although he is no longer a member of the Mandalorian fleets, he still uses his Mandalorian armour because of its high quality and versatility. The training for a high variety of environments and situations that he received from the mandalorians often proved to be very useful in his line of work.
  • Naal'Su: Twi'lek heavy hitter. You want to hit something? She hits it, with guns. The bigger the better. She prefers heavy weapons and armour, but don't get it wrong, she is not stupid, otherwise she wouldn't be so good and still alive.

  • Thalen Voidhound: A human smuggler. He knows many tricks and specialises in moving large quantities and expensive goods. He works together with a large group of smugglers near the other side of the Union from Unity.
  • Sven Starburst: A Theelin smuggler. His very fast ship features very well hidden compartments. He claims to have good contacts, but ultimately relies solely on himself.
  • Leela Tyrana: A human cross-breed smuggler who is known for her cunning and devotion. She likes to work alone and dislikes men.

  • Rennig: A human computer specialist. He specialises into hacking systems without leaving a trace.
  • Danar Ipsum: A Teprogrenaian technician. He is very good in (physically) connecting himself with all kinds of computers and devices to take control over it.

These people are the best, and you can see that in their prices. Ajava her budget would allow her to hire only three of these people in total.

It wasn't hard for Ajava to figure out the standard frequencies used by the Union police and reserved identification codes.

A few days later, Ajava sits in a corner in yet another shady establishment. A casino this time. The kind that doesn't feature security camera's but instead features two gamorrean bouncers with sharp-looking axes.

The hooded figure that is Ajava sits with her back to a solid wall, and is browsing through two data pads. The data pads contain a shortlist of contactable bounty hunters and other mercenaries that would fit the job. As she browses the list, she makes sure to keep an eye out for trouble. She has already spotted two energetic rodians cheating at a game of Sabacc, and an attractive twi'lek cutpurse who partnered with a bith runner.

Occasionally, she glances at one of the tables. The human croupier, who was wearing a smart white and red vest showing off his muscled arms, seems very appealing to her. Of course, she won't get involved with him at this moment, she has to minimize the chance of being seen. But it never hurts to remember for later.

Right now, she had to narrow down the list to three candidates. As she looks over the list again, she quickly singles out Rennig. For some reasons, she feels that he is the best man for the job, as far as hacking goes. Maybe she read the name somewhere else. She splits of a sliver of her conscious to try and remember, while the rest of her continues on.

Ajava isn't interested in moving large quantities. She wants a single, successful and undetected ride out of the city. At first sight, Starburst or Tyrana seem like good options. On the other hand Voidhound has contacts in exactly the part of space she plans to be operating in. This mission might be a good way to evaluate his abilities.

Naal'Su is off the list. Ajava wants as little collateral damage as possible and none of her plans involve heavy weapons. That leaves the choice between Carl Hok and Rastor Fettra. Since the team most likely has to go up against the Jedi, Fettra would be a natural choice. His Mandalorian training would work to his advantage. However, having someone who seems to be a Mandalorian involved will also attract a much larger amount of attention. Any investigation will quickly turn into a military matter, and immediate Union intelligence attention is something Ajava would like to avoid.

'Kach'. 'Rennig Kach'. Ajava remembers where she saw the name. She read it on a datapad in the temple on master Screetor's desk. She also remembers that it was a profile on the man, listing a few of his alleged exploits and the fact that he has never been caught.

So, she now has a hitter: Carl Hok. A hacker: Rennig Kach. And a smuggler: Thalen Voidhound. With Leela Tyrana a close second, should Voidhound be unavailable at the last moment.

Her selection made, Ajava gets up and leaves the casino. She goes to one of the public terminals. Normally, such a thing would be inadvisable in this neighbourhood. But most of the denizens of this area of Unity have learned to leave hooded figures alone.

She places a few quick calls to contacts, and sets the wheels in motion. Of course, she'll still have to have a holo-conversation with Carl Hok once he arrives, to inform him of the plan and to provide him with the locations, frequencies and identification codes.

As she drives back, another thought occurs to her: she can have Voidhound hand off the girl by leaving her at a predetermined coordinates in an escape pod. That way, no direct contact between herself and the smuggler is necessary. It will also immensely increase the difficulty of later investigations.

((OOC: I don't think the talk with Carl Hok needs actual RP, as it basically just a repeat of the plan from the previous post. Also, I think most preparations are done now...))

"Greetings gentlemen.", Ajava greeted the three freelancers through a throw-away holo communicator.

"Your objective is the safe extract of a Sith from Jedi custody. Your target is the armoured convoy that will be used to transport her from the Jedi Temple to the train station. Needless to say, she will be guarded by two Jedi.

As agreed, your payment has been put into escrow with Tarh Huuk of the Demai Anocracy, in (:hex) 18 -7."

"I have prepared a plan of action for you. You are welcome to deviate from the plan if you feel that would increase the chances of success. I wish to minimize collateral damage. The plan is as follows...". With that, she went into detail on the plan, including the standard frequencies used by the Union police and reserved identification codes. "Once the Sith has been brought extracted from Unity, Voidhound will leave the sedated girl in an escape pod in orbit around P'rtur-3 in (:hex) 14 -4.

You should also leave a datapad in the pod containing a short note where deviations from the plan were made, and what complications were encountered.

Questions?"

Ajava found the escape pod around P'rtur, of a YT-2400 class freighter, and in it lay an unconscious Tera. She didn't appear to have any permanent damage, only some bruises.

In the escape pod was a datapad as well.

Mission debriefing
Mission deviations
Voidhound didn't personally escorted the package, but someone he trusted. We prepared a decoy Tera and Carl in case the extraction would be difficult, this proved to be useful.

Mission complication
Reinforcements arrived sooner than expected, this made the escape messier than intended. One escape car was already destroyed before it could be used for escape. We needed to improvise and steal an escape car. We were able to delude the Jedi with the decoys in one car, and escaped in the stolen car. A shoot out between the security forces and the decoy car en route was inevitable. We weren't followed in the stolen car.

It was a pleasure doing business with you.

((OOC: Congratulations, you have finished the mission. Although this is not an regular jedi mission, I still believe a mission report is in order before you can actually claim Tera. (Sorry for the delay.) Luckily, the report can be short ;).))

Ajava picked up the escape pod in her current vessel, a light freighter used by her research lab in Scir territory. After reading the datapad, she wiped it... No use keeping that information around. She set the auto-pilot to fly her back to Scir, and went to the cargo hold to wait for Tera to wake up.

When Tera came to, she stepped into sight. Her hands already crackling with lightning.

"Hello again Tera. I have decided to take you for myself after all..."
