"Lower our shields?! With the mandalorians around, are you crayzy?" came the heated reply from the captain of the Praetorian vessel. "We won't lower our shields, and we won't give you our shield frequency so you can sniff around our classified technologies!".
While the Carina-Sitra and the Eclipse were chattering about, Trigiel heard a very whirry iron voice: "Bzzt, whirrrrr. This is Scateat 6-5. Retrieving wingleader from uncontrolled-descent with 89% fatality risk.", directly followed with "Pleep, brrrr. Scateat 6-3 acknowledges." It seemed that the Teprogrenaian droid programmers had proficiently cut short any needless chatter between the droids.
Darones only received the ominous *static* "89% fatality" *static* while he saw two armed Teprogrenaian fighters rush toward him in formation! Unfortunately, his engine was completely smashed and he was not able to get his fighter moving again.
In the meantime, Trigiel was already flying towards the Shadow Saggitari Malachite. He quickly boarded the ship through the decompressed fighter deck, where he saw the wreckages of multiple Mandalorian fighters crashed into the floor and back wall.
As he hopped out, he saw that five of the Mandalorian fighters contained the corpses of Mandaloria soldiers, while the cockpits of the other fighters were empty. It would take investigation to determine how they were opened, but from his cursory glance it seemed that the cockpit covers were smashed to pieces during the crash.
Outside the hangar, a team Praetorian security squad stood ready to accompany Trigiel in his search. "Sir!", the team saluted as he entered the hallway. They quickly proceeded towards the engine room.
The two droids flying towards Darones split up in a standard attack pattern... And launched anchor cables that roughly grabbed his ship to tow it back to the Shadow. While Trigiel was moving through the ship, Darones was towed into the decompressed hangar where an emergency response team was already waiting for him. As soon as his fighter came to a halt they broke open the window, grabbed Darones and put a breathing mask on his face.
After they moved him into the hallway, the field medic checked him for wounds. When it was clear that Darones himself was, aside from some serious bruises, fine, they let him stand up. "Sir, the other Jedi is on his way to the engine room.", one of the nearby soldiers informed him.
Just then, Trigiel and his squad burst into the engine room! Strange enough, nothing seemed to be amiss here. The Praetorian technicians were hurriedly working on the systems. Through the transparisteel window on the rear-side of the control room Trigiel could see the ships power core spark off excess energy in blue arcs.
Trigiel, being well-versed in ship and power system mechanics, immediately concluded that this was no normal power core. There was an extra shell of machinery around it. He couldn't determine what exactly the second shell was, but it wasn't normal, not even for Praetorian power systems.

In the hangar Trigiel quickly counted the amount of missing Mandalorians, when he was greeted by the Praetorians he quickly informed them of the amount of missing Mandalorians: "I counted 5 dead, the rest is missing. Sent an investigation team to track those missing bodies."
In the engine room, Trigiel looked at the power core, then he get the attention of the least busy looking Praetorian technician: "Can you tell me what the situation is, and what that odd piece of machinery is at the core?"

"Thank you,"
Darones said as the soldier helped him back on his feet.
"Could you take me there, perhaps he needs my help. We both suspect that there is a Sith on board, so make sure that you run a sweep of the ship, we'll assist."

While Darones was led through the vessel, the technician looked at Trigiel. Then he looked at the security squad. Then he looked back at Trigiel. Just before he could reply, an officer walked towards them ordering the technician to go back to work.
"That is a piece of classified experimental hyperspace shielding equipment, Jedi.", the officer replied. "I'm afraid I am not allowed to discuss it any further, but I know that we are authorized to activate it if the mission requires it."
A few minutes later, Darones and Trigiel were both in the engine control room when a report came in from the security forces. "We have found and eliminated the missing Mandalorian. He was trying to attach a bomb to our aft munitions supply. The situation is contained."
((OOC: If you have no other things to do, I'll fast-forward this thread to sync up with the Ground thread so we can get on with the story ^_^ You have about three hours of time to use before beig in sync -- feel free to narrate your actions for that time if you want to catch up.))

"So everything is in order here?"
Darones asked Trigiel once they had met up again and the security forces reported their progress. He still felt a bit shaken up for his ordeal, but he was well enough to go about his business.
"By the way, I guess I should thank whomever thought up that retrieval protocol and build those droid fighters, they saved my life out there.
Furthermore I propose that whilst we run a quick security sweep, just to be sure we did get all of them. We should also regroup the task force and have them report their status, conduct any necessary repairs and contact the ground team to check on their progress. Or do you have a different approach?"

"Ah I heard that this ship had experimental stealth technology." Trigiel said to the officer, "at least its no bomb, thank you."
When Darones entered the engine room, Trigiel listened to what he had to say. "I think you have to thank R&D Head Dannar Agiro of the lower military Consult for the initial droid rescue program, but she is dead for about two millennia I believe.
Yes lets do a sweep and report at the bridge. The Carina-Sitra and Nostro were in pursuit but should have returned by now."
Then he contacted the security"roger that, I will come to take a look to see if there are no second ones. Are all Mandalorians now accounted for?" Trigiel went to the security team, from there he tried to retrace the steps of the Mandalorian soldier to check if they had indeed covered everything. He ended up reporting back at the bridge.

The two jedi did a thorough sweep of the ship to ensure no other bombs had been planted. The sweep took them over three and a half hours to complete, and while they found some things that at first seemed strange, the Praetorian technicians could explain each and every piece of machinery. Some of their answers were little more than "That is classified. But rest assured that that device is supposed to be there."
In the end, after finding nothing of note, they both ended up at the bridge.
After checking with the navigators on the status of the corridor they had to secure, they stood there. Looking out of the window they saw battles being fought between Mandalorian and Union forces, even though some of them only looked like cheap fireworks shows from this distance.
"Sir, we have an incoming transmission from the Eclipse.", came the shout from one of the communications experts.
The captain of the ship simply walked over and motioned the Jedi to join him.
"Jedi, we received a message from the surface. It appears to have been cut short by a large field of static, most likely enemy force jamming the signal. This is what we received:"
This is Ariana Danacia, we are en-route with the package. Weather conditions are getting worse on the ground. Please scan for our tracking... *static*
"We have forwarded what information we got from the locator beacon before the static drowned everything out."
The communications expert punched a few buttons and turned some knobs. "The locator beacon indicates a location several miles off of the designated landing site. Scans indicate a large vessel on the planet over that location."
The captain looked at the Jedi. "What's the plan?"

"Inform the veolian freighters of the current location of the ground team, maybe the freighters need to relocate. But don't give the actual order to move yet. We first need to know what the actual situation is."
Trigiel turned to Darones: "Darones, is the Eclipse capable of scanning the location of the ground team from this distance? We need to know as much as possible."
Trigiel waited for Darones his answer on his question, then he turned back to the captain: "How large is the vessel? And how is the situation in space? Are we able to send fighters or is the fire from the defences creating too much difficulties? I'm unwilling to go down there with 2 more jedi, as there are already 2 down on the ground.
My preferred plan is as follows: A fighter wing and a bomber wing is going to make a fly-by. If the ground team is indeed in trouble by the large vessel, the bomber team can destroy the ship while the fighter wing can provide air support against any hostile ground forces. I trust the judgement of the pilots to use the necessary weapons.
If this is proves too much of a risk because of ground-to-space fire from the Hiocan defences, we can send down the Carina-Sitra, but I am reluctant to do this, as we need every ship here to keep the corridor clear.
I rule out space-to-ground fire, the chance to destroy the artefact is larger than that such fire provide actual help.
Captain, what is the damage status of our ships?"

Trigiel took charge in the situation, giving effective orders to both his fellow Jedi and to the Union vessels.
"This is the Eclipse. We have tried to get a reading of the ground situation. We can't pick up much due to a high energy source of radiation, though we can pick up visual indications that a Mandalorian Corvette hovers over the location of the ground team."
The captain, meanwhile, did not stand by idly. He had already walked over to his captain's chair, from where he coordinated the preparation of holding the corridor with reduced combat power.
When Trigiel proposed the plan, the captain opened a holochannel to the other captains. The plan was shortly discussed and the necessary fighter wings were oredered to prepare for atmospheric descent. However the captains agreed that the surface to space fire of the Hiocan defensive emplacements would be problematic. They would need a lot of luck.
"We can hold on here", was the initial reply of the captain, "Though you might have to do more of your Jedi magic out there if the Mandalorian force a confrontation. The Carina-Nostro is heavily damaged, but repairs are on the way. I predict that we should be able to hold off if the remnants of there local forces return. But if they have backup, we are in deep trouble."

" Captain," Darones said, "If you can manage a transport for me, I could go and see if we could speed up the repairs on the Carina-Nostro. I'm sure the captain and crew would appreciate some help. Once that's done, perhaps I could assist on other ships as well."
Darones was eager to assist the crew in the repairs. It couldn't compete with the excitement of space combat, but frankly after his dive towards death, he had seen enough of it for now. He then said to Trigiel,
"With that corvette down there, I don't think that they'll be coming back at us. Unless there is a second strike force of which we a currently unaware. Assuming however, that we can successfully assist the ground team, it might feel good to set up a trap to ensure that the corvette can't leave this place. We should have enough fire power to destroy it once we are sure the ground team is safe.
If they do decide to engage again, I'm sure could assist from aboard the Carina-Nostro, I'm not going out there in a fighter again. Sometimes it's better not to tempt fate to much.."

"A trap is an excellent suggestion, Darones, let's set up one.
Captain, let the two Carina's set up a defence position along side the Eclipse. This ship can hide behind the moon. When the Mandalorians go in for the Carina's, you can fire in from behind as their rear shields would be wide open. My estimation is that there are currently no Mandalorians behind the moon any more, or they would have been appeared sooner.
You can use the experimental cloak to hide your approach. It is meant to block radar signals right? I estimate the chance somebody looking outside the rear window and in time warning the bridge would be small. Darones, you go to the Carina-Nostro, I stay on standby here and help to repair the Shadow Sagittari Malachite for as long there are no Mandalorians targeting us."

"It seems that sending down a fighter team would be too problematic and a waste of our resources."
Trigiel had to think fast, they probably would have some serious problems down there, but at the other hand, wasting fighters was useless as well. Then he though about the no- landing area. The ground team would be able to use that in their advantage.
"Abort the fighters for the surface. Have Fundibal-2 take cover behind the moon as well for a surprise attack, Fundibal-1 should stay here with the Eclipse"

"Roger that.", came the reply from the wing commanders.
The captain of the Shadow Sagittari Malachite gave a short nod to indicate his agreement with Trigiel's plan. Darones was shuttled over to the Carina-Nostro to help with repairs, and the Shadow moved out together with Fundibal-2 to hide behind the moon.
Darones skills in Mechanical engineer allowed him to quickly and effectively coordinate the repairs of the ship, prioritizing the repair and recovery of critical systems. Trigiel's training allowed him to assist as well, allthough the damage to the Praetorian vessel was superficial. The hanger bay would remain decomissioned for the mission, as they didn't have the necessary materials to repair it.

After he helped with the repairs, Trigiel waited on the bridge of the Praetorian Heavy Cruiser till something required his attention.

Darones Rei - PC
With the repairs in progress, Darones waited to see if his help was still needed in order to speed up any further repairs. If it wasn't however, he went to the bridge of the cruiser to watch the way the Teprogrenaian crew, which were either cyborgs or droids, operated the various systems. Being used to mainly human crew's and company, he felt a bit weird and left out, but also fascinated at the same time.
He would continue observing and talking with several members of the crew until something else required his attention.

The repairs were significantly sped up with the assistance of the two Jedi, to the point that they were better at spending their time directing the different repair crews while keeping an eye on the situation in space as well.
Up till now, everything has been going smoothly, and no sign of Mandalorian forces threatening the corridor occurred, though the battle between the Union forces and the Mandalorian forces raged on.

Not keen on sitting around and doing nothing, Darones arranged for another transfer, this time to the Eclipse. While under way he contacted Trigiel.
"I'm on my way the Eclipse, perhaps I'm able to clear up the signal a bit more so that we'll have a better understanding of what is going on on the ground. Nathan and Ariana are running a bit late, they might be in trouble. I'll keep you up to date.
As soon as his transfer arrived at the Eclipse, Darones requested access to the bridge and asked to be permitted a try at clearing up the scans of the area on the ground. At the very least he hoped that he would be able to find out if they could set up a stable stream of communication and if he was lucky enough, get a clearer picture of what was going on at the ground.

Flying over to the Eclipse took some time, but already knowing the Jedi's intent, the crew quickly ushered him through the winding archways of the Sundarian vessel until he was at the signal console on the bridge.
Darones set to work, and only moments later, he detected a strange energy spike in the data stream. A short cross-reference against intelligence data gathered earlier in the war led him to the conlusion that the spike was the result of Mandalorian utility systems exploding.
Just as he was about to communicate the information, the cleared up live video image showed him what was going on! In the center of the blind spot in their sensors (the blind spot he just cleared up) he saw a the top-down silhoutte of a Mandalorian Corvette hovering being attacked by what seemed to be Union fighter wings!

As Darones was looking at the cleared up picture, he suddenly received a telepathic message from Ariana: "Enemy Corvette is jamming signals and landed troops. Crystal is on the ground. Pinned down, order fighters to sweep over enemy ground forces. Requesting backup!"
Oblivious to Darones his findings, Trigiel staid at his location, waiting for Mandalorians to show up.

As he became aware of the strange sensation caused by a telepathic connection his answer was short and simple, but he wasn't sure that his reply would make it back, "Stand your ground, backup will be on its way. Clear away from the corvette if possible.

It seems our ground party has met heavy resistance, along with a Mandalorian corvette and are at risk. They have requested immediate backup. I've also had brief contact with Ariana, and she told me that the crystal is now on the ground, so it probably cannot be moved.
While our data and telemetry is probably accurate enough to take a shot at the corvette from space, I would advise against such direct fire since we risk our away team and their cargo as well. So instead I propose that we sent down some additional fighter and bomber support and possibly a cruiser to assist and protect our assets on the ground. What do you think?"

Immediately after that Darones contacted Trigiel and the Captains of the individual ships within the taskforce via the holonet, while he began forwarding a real time datastream to them, which contained live data and telemetry on the ground action down on the planet.
