A disturbing rumour has started to spread among the jedi in training. Rumours of one of their own disappearing. True or not, the suggestion of a jedi vanishing from the jedi temple has the council worried.

A call has gone out for a handful of jedi to report to Master Leithor, tracking and investigation skills are advised. Will this become a rescue or a manhunt, step up and find out...

((OOC: Splitting this mission in two parts, second will follow after first is finished. Second part will have a new sign up. Please add an ooc to your post with preferred posting frequency.))

"Hello Master," Darones greeted master Leithor after he was intrigued by the call to investigate the disappearance of one of their own, "I'd like to offer my services."

((OOC: Padawan Darones Rei: Force level 6; Posting with my current activity: once per week.))

"Master Leithor", Ajava acknowledged the man with a nod. "Hello padawan", she said with a friendly smile towards as she spotted Darones.

((OOC: I would prefer twice per week, but have no problem with once per week.))

Master Leithor had a worried look on his face. A fact that was in and of itself disturbing. Darones and Ajava knew that there was very little that could make a Jedi Master worry. If either one of them had any doubt about the importance of this mission, this would be enough to quell such doubts.

"I will get straight to the point. No doubt you have heard the rumours about a jedi gone missing from the Temple." Master Leithor looked both jedi in the eye as he skipped the pleasantries. "I wish I could say these where just rumours, unfortunately that is not the case."

With the push of a button a holoprojector whined to life. It displayed the three dimensional picture of a young human woman dressed in the robes of a jedi knight.

"This is Jedi Knight Irina Hightower. About a week ago she disappeared from the Jedi Temple and nothing has been heard from her since. There has been nothing found to explain her disappearance, like a message.

The council is worried because the possibilities aren't very good. Your task, for now, is to find out how she left and if it was of her own free will or not. This could be a very sensitive matter, I trust I can count on your discretion."

The Jedi Master paused for a moment to let everything sink in.

"Now if there are no further questions, I suggest you start with questioning her room mate and her padawan."

((OOC: I'm going for once a week with this now started story. If I feel it is going to slowly I will up the pace. I want an equipment list with your next post. Since you will be staying in Unity City for this part you don't need a whole lot of stuff, though I would advise bringing a portable holoprojector with the Jedi Knight's image and a comm device.))

Shebi Ajava quickly made a copy of the holographic image of Jedi Knight Hightower.

"We'll find out what happened, master. If someone has abducted a Jedi from Unity City that would be grave news indeed, rest assured that we will make sure that this stays between us. Do we have a holographic image of her without jedi robes?"

After the extra image was copied (or not, if it wasn't available), had one more question.

"Master, you seem to know her better then us. Do you know why she preferred to share her room?"

After getting an answer, Ajava waited for Darones to ask any questions he might have before leaving to visit the room of the disappeared knight.

((OOC: Equipment:
  • Her lightsabers, Talavāra and Katāra
  • Her composite recurve bow, with 35 durasteel-tipped arrows
  • Holograph projector with images of missing Jedi Knight
  • Communications device
  • Datapad with holonet link
  • Several keycards and cryptokeys
  • A stack of credits
I don't think you should increase the pace two more than once per week if a player just said that they can't do more than once a week...

Usually, things like a small holoprojector and a comm device are assumed to be available to every character that knows to be prepared (i.e. all jedi); do you adhere to the 'if you didn't mention it you didn't bring it' credo? If so, my equipment list will balloon enourmously :P If it was just advice, I would (spoken as one ST to another ST) just let the players discover that finding someone without an image is difficult ^_^))

((OOC: I meant a temporary increase if things really fall behind to much, but I doubt it will come to that.

I stick to the policy that you bring what you list and nothing more (aside from clothes and stuff) This is not only for my sanity but also yours as you know what your fellow players are bringing. I do this mostly because of the experience I have as a player, other players not listing comm devises. Making me think I cannot talk to them out side hearing range.

So if Ajava could update her list and Darones could post, then we can get started. (remember: 'if you didn't mention it you didn't bring it')))

((OOC: Okay. Updated the list. I'm not entirely sure what is covered under the 'and stuff' of 'clothes and stuff' though. If you feel that I claim something during the mission that I did not have listed, please inform me of this.

Also, I usually asume that the other players don't know what I've brought. Most of it is not immediately visible, and going through someones stuff is just rude.))

"Thank you for your trust Master," Darones said after Master Leithor had explained the issue at hand.

"It might also prove helpfull if you could tell us a little bit on any current, or latest assignments she might have been working on. Perhaps her disappearance is related to events or encounters whilst she was working on them."

After the Jedi-Master had answered his question, Darones joined Ajava enroute to the missing Jedi's quarters.

((OOC: Equipment:
  • His lightsabers
  • Holograph projector with images of missing Jedi Knight
  • Communications device
  • Datapad with holonet link
  • A stack of credits
  • A small backpack with a medkit, an engineering kit, and supplies for a few days.

"I'm afraid that it's not my place to tell you why she wanted a shared room. However I do not think it has anything to do with her disappearance.

Her last assignment was several months ago. But there where no events or encounters that might explain her disappearance in her report. Nor did we sense anything out of order with her."

After Master Leithor had answered their questions the two jedi went to the Knight's quarters.

After they had knocked on the door it opened and they saw a young human woman meditating. She was dressed in the Jedi Knight robes.

"Ah there you are, please have a seat." She said, her eyes still closed. After Ajava and Darones had sat down she exhaled and opened her eyes again.

"I am Caitlin Vox." She introduced herself and bowed her head.

((OOC: Sorry it took so long, have been very busy.

Item lists: approved
I think that from a professional point of view you tell what your bringing so your group isn't taking along stuff they only need once more times. Lake a squad of soldiers each has a specific set of things they carry so they don't take anything unnecessary. But we can argue that point at a different time and place.))

((OOC: As long as you, as a player, don't assume that your character knows whatever my character brings, I'm fine ^_^ But yeah, let's discuss that somewhere else if needed.))

"I'm Shebi Ajava, and this is my padawan Darones Rei.", Ajava replied.

"We would like to ask you some questions about Jedi Knight Hightower, and her sudden disappearance. Could you start with when you last saw her?"

After she answered, Ajava had a few more questions: "Do you know anyone who would want to harm knight Hightower?" "Did she tell you anything specific or strange about her last mission?" "How was she acting when you last saw her?" "Why are you and knight Hightower sharing a room?" "Do you know of other people that might have seen her?"

She made sure not to overwhelm the girl with questions, but she was persistent in wanting at least some answer. If Darones interjects, Ajava lets him.

((OOC: I tried to speed things up a little by asking several questions to prevent every question from taking a week.))

"I last saw her about a week ago." Vox started. Ajava and Darones felt a sense of comfort around her, like her presence gave serenity to the room. "She told me she was going on a mission that would take a few months. A few days later I learned she didn't have any mission and reported her missing to the council."

Vox was calm and collected. Which was unusual for the situation, though it could be conscripted to the fact she was a Jedi.

"Irina is well liked by most people here in the temple and even in Unity City she is a well respected figure. I doubt anyone who knows her would want to hurt her.

When she came back from her last mission she seemed all right though a bit sad. I asked her if anything had happened but she said no and I had no reason to inquire further. Just over a month ago I sensed she was in distress, but when I asked her about it she told me she just got scolded for forgetting to return a book she borrowed from the library. However after that she lacked presence, like she was shielding herself with the Force.

She did go out to Unity City a few times after that, I believe she said she went to a bar. I should have an address somewhere.

As for the reason Irina and I share a room, that falls under doctor-patient confidentiality."

She reached inside her sleeve and showed a practising license that stated she was a psychologist.

"Mmm.. I see," Darones responded after Caitlin had answered the questions Ajava had asked her. "Sounds like she may in a bit more trouble then she might have been willing to admit. This may very well be bigger then it seems.

That bar seems a good place to start, but I'd also like to know a bit more about her last mission. Perhaps she told you things she didn't put in her report. What do you know about it?"

Ajava wasn't happy with the non-answer on her question on sharing a room, especially not that it seems that Irina has some kind of mental issue. She dind't show this though, and was certainly not going to push it. For now she just waited for Darones' questions to be answered.

"No, not that I can think of. She was usually very diligent in making her reports." Vox said after thinking a moment.

"Although..., when I asked her if she met anyone interesting she seemed to avoid the topic." She added.

Vox looked at Ajava.

"I understand my answer isn't very satisfactory. Irina and I have been sharing our room for almost as long as we have been with the Jedi."

Darones and Ajava knew there probably was not much more she could tell them. If they had any more questions they could ask them now. Then they could continue their investigation.

"Very well, I've got no further questions. Thank you for assisting us, knight Vox."

Ajava left.

"We'll go and check out that bar after we've talked to her padawan.", she told Darones while walking through the temple to the padawan of the missing knight.

The padawan was at the training grounds. The young Rodian boy bowed to the two jedi. He seemed worried and Darones and Ajava could sense some fear as well.

"How can I help you master?"

"Hello padawan. I would like to talk with your master, jedi knight Hightower."

Ajava led the padawan to a secluded part of the training grounds, so they wouldn't be overheard.

"Let's start with why you are afraid, young one."

The padawan obediently followed Ajava.

"I'm not afraid." He said. Then he shook his head. "No, that's not true.

I'm afraid my master left because of me. Because I wasn't a good padawan learner. I screwed up during training a few times, she yelled at me because of that. She even skipped a few morning training sessions."

He told about the mistakes he made. They where small, common mistakes. Mistakes nearly every jedi made during their training. Probably mistakes made by Irina herself during her training. It was strange for a jedi knight to get angry because of that.

((OOC: I haven't heard from Darones for a while. Are you still with us?))

Darones simply waited as Ajava questioned the padawan. He knew she could be pretty intimidating, and with him asking questions as well it might very well be a bit too much for the padawan to bear.

((OOC: still here.. just don't have that much time on my hands.. should get better after next week.))

Ajava looked intently at the rodian boy, as if judging his errors.

"Don't be afraid. Your master didn't leave because of you.", she added said after a while. "Those mistakes are nothing special, and any master that even raises her voice at them should think back to their time as a padawan learner.", she reassured the boy.

"Do you remember anything else in the behaviour of your master before she left? Maybe she told you something that seemed insignificant, or strange?"

"Well I'm not sure if it's anything, but during our training sessions she recently seemed a bit slower than usual." The padawan said after thinking a moment.

"She was still much faster then me, but it just seemed as if she was a bit... sluggish."

It could just be the padawan was improving, that his master seemed to move slower to him. However there was the possibility it was something else. Which ever it was, it was doubtful the padawan could help them along further. It was probably time to move on.

After they left the young padawan, Darones voiced his opinion on the matter.

"Mmm.. It seems that even her padawan noticed something wasn't right, appearing sluggish, having a temper, seems to care a bit less. I would say she is either not feeling to well, or is caring something with her that ways heavy on her conscience. Her room-mate probably noticed that too, but the fact that she wouldn't tell her is troubling.

I'm hoping the people in the bar can shed some light on this.. though I must admit we have not much to go on."

"Thank you, padawan.", Ajava dismissed the young rodian.

"I'm sure that we will find something more usable in the bar.", Ajava replied to Darones' statement that they had very little to go on.

"Let's go and see what kind of company knight Hightower keeps when drinking."

When the two jedi entered the bar they found it wasn't very busy. But considering the time of day and Unity City's general lack of scum and villains that was nothing out of the ordinary. Never the less a catchy popular cantina song was playing. The few people that where there didn't pay any attention to the new arrivals.

The neimoidian bartender noticed them when they approached the bar.

"Hello, welcome. What can I do ya for?"

"I'm looking for a friend of mine.", Ajava replied while she showed the holoimage she copied earlier, of the missing Jedi in casual clothes. "I'm hoping you've seen her around."
