[9 -8] Looking for a Jedi (part 2)
((OOC: The lightsaber is not beheading the running guy, that is all Trigiel wanted :).))
Trigiel had currently one objective: Chasing the running guy. The running guy was running for a reason and they wanted to know why. Aside this, the robed trio was chasing after him as well, so catching the running guy would lead to catching up with trio evil as well.
Aside this, the four guys actually seem to work together a bit too much, giving each other stepping stones and such.
Letting the force guide him, Trigiel waited for a fitting hover car to pass by while he runs over the rooftops who happens to go in the right direction. Trigiel jumped on the car, taxied along and jumped of again when the car would take a turn. Jumping from car to car, Trigiel tried to close in the gap with the running guy.
If there are no hover cars passing by, Trigiel continued the chase the regular way over the rooftops.
((Check: 11 = 7 Force Level + 4 Intuition -- For letting the force guide him which car to jump on.))
((Check: 15 = 7 Force Level + 5 Fitness + 2 Force Jump + 1 Athletics -- For jumping, either from car to car, or over the rooftops giving chase.))

Clarification request: I'm afraid I don't follow the note. You just said the 3 darksiders jumped down, and now they're suddenly back up... How did they get up on the rooftops?
For the record: As far as I understand it, Ajava is currently running on the ground, as she was still in the lobby when she started running, and at no point did she climb/rung/jump onto a building.))

((OOC: Yes Ajava is still on the ground. The trio is following the same path the runner is doing, but because it took a while for them climb onto the roof they have fallen behind. That is the main reason Trigiel and Ajava are now closer to the runner than the trio. Now that I think about it, it wasn't clear from my post. Sorry for that. The "On the rooftops" part referred to the trio, I should have used a "," there.))

((OOC: Ok, now I get it. Would have been nice to read in your post somewhere that the three guys climbed/jumped up. Making such details explicit really helps your players, and could've saved us a few ping-pong posts for clarification ^_^))

((OOC: Now, for the requested OOC note: It was clear to me that chasing is an option. However, the ST should not forget that we are not here to play our role in his predetermined story (which seems to be the case at the moment). We are here to play our characters in an interactive process where we all end up having fun. Demanding that someone spend more OOC time on it than 1 post per posting cycle, asking that someone redo their post (with failure being the consequence if you don't), or declaring that you "expect some high quality roleplaying" do not really speak of respect for your players.
The ST has some authority over the game world, but not over the actions by player characters, and certainly none over the players -- getting ordered around with the threat of a failed mission is no fun. And having your character's actions marginalized by the story line that MUST happen is no fun either. This is not a TV series, nor a book, nor a computer RPG. This is a collaborative effort to discover and interact with a world, and to create a story by what we do and how we do it.))
Continuing the chase on the ground, Ajava knows she needs to get up on the rooftops to be of any use. Jumping over the debris of the fallen billboard, she looks around for the next opportunity to ascend as well. Unfortunately, the current situation doesn't allow her to slow down and use an emergency escape to climb up.
As she continues her chase, she grabs her bow from her back with practiced ease. Looking ahead to the next building, she plans her route. Falling back on her training, she fires arrow after arrow in one fluid motion, never even slowing down or stopping to take aim. Bystanders would see her fire ten arrows in rapid succession, all aimed at the side of the next building -- each arrow a futher away and much higher, as if they are steps in a extremely stretched out staircase.
Then, as she approaches the next building, she jumps up to the first arrow. Using her connection with the force, she pushes off from the arrow to walk along the wall of the building to the next arrow, and the next, and the next... Ending up on the rooftops as well without slowing down. Once there, she is quick to pick up the chase and continues after the fleeing man.
((Check: 19 = 10 Force Level + 4 Vision + 5 Arkari-Renja -- Woot! I finally get to use my bow in a mission: Aim and shoot a nice staircase into the building))

((OOC: You are correct. However when I see something that I believe to be a lack of effort, I ask for a bit more to make up for it. This story is not the automatic win scenario most are. I am trying to help you succeed. But when a clue that can be seen from orbit is ignored, I get a bit frustrated.

As Trigiel started jumping over onto cars, something that most drivers didn't like, and Ajava started walking on arrows, a small ship flew low overhead.
In his current surroundings the runner had three routes he could take. Trigiel's car hopping locked one of those routes down, leaving him only two directions to take.
Ajava reached the rooftops. Since she was faster, she had pulled ahead of the runner before she used her bow. Now that she was on the roof like everyone else, her position cut off a second route.
With the Trio behind him, the runner had just one way to go. One of the trio extended their hand, lightning shot from it. The lightning struck the man, causing him to trip and fall. It effectively stopped him. Ariana arrived just in time to lock off the man's last escape route. The man looked around, he was surprisingly calm. In fact he didn't seem alarmed at all, despite the fact he was surrounded by six trained Force users.
"Damn, I expected you three to follow me. But Jedi?" The man said. "Well, now the lot of you has to fight over who gets to keep me. I'll be good and..." He continued before one of the cloaked trio interrupted him.
"Enough of this!" The guy said in a hateful tone. He threw off his cloak as he shouted something to the other two in Mandalorian. The other two followed his example and turned to the three Jedi. The entire trio drew their lightsabers and activated them. The two facing the Jedi had a sabrestaf and dual sabres, the last one faced the man and had a single sabre.

Also:
Ha, I feel your frustration with the clues. Players in my stories (that includes you) have made a habit of ignoring the obvious and going on to do something else completly. That's simply what players do. In this case, I don't think that the clue was missed. Ariana simply did what was logical: move to the window to see what the fuss was about -- she couldn't see that from the door of the room ^_^
Also, I feel a bit sad (and insulted to be honest): if you think that most other stories are automatic win scenarios, you might want to reread most of them and see if the 'winning' has to do with players coming up with good and cool solutions to the problems they face. The fact that no missions have failed yet has more to do with the creativity of the players than with the winnability of the scenarios. Next to that it is not about winning the scenario, it's about having fun roleplaying, if we fail, than so be it :D))

As Ajava runs up the ad-hoc stair made of arrows, her multiple streams of consciousness are working overhours. Jumping up to the roof, she spots the small ship hovering overhead. Several predictions and possibilities flash through her mind, some bolstered by observations in the past, others by observations right now. Due to her Hemet neurology, she recalls the necessary details instantly. She blinks once.
As her eyes close, Ajava's conscious determines the most likely scenarios: she knows that Irina Hightower told her roommate she met someone during a mission a few months ago. Most likely that places her encounter roughly during the missions to topple the Mandalor. Ajava remains convinced that Hightower is pregnant. Second hand information that Irina claims to have left for a mysterious mission of a few months. She was shielding herself with the force, had morning moods and strange eating patterns, all giving a high likelihood to the pregnancy theory.
Here, a headset with mandalorian text. These guys shouting in Mandalorian, and pursuing this other guy, who started running. The runner claiming to expect the mandalorians but not the Jedi... He doesn't seem perturbed at all. He has a plan, as evidenced by him trying to get his two groups of chaser to fight each other. He wasn't at the hotel when we arrived, and these three guys seem more the type to 'leave no witnesses'. Most likely they were staking out the room, hoping Irina would return -- or their actual target would return: they started chasing this guy the moment he started running. We interfered in their stakeout by arriving, their target pops up, prompting immediate action.
One of the more probable scenario's: this guy is most likely a Mandalorian deserter. The most probable reason to desert is a child with Irina. If he feels in control, and actually tries to stall for time, he has an escape. The small ship. Hightower was seen leaving with a pilot contact, the pilot was traced here. Alternatively, the ship belongs to the Mandalorian operatives. Either way, it needs to go. If his extraction fails, he will have to make run for it or fight the mandalorians. He will run. If it's the mandalorian's ship, taking out their escape will encourage them to flee earlier.
Within the time of a single blink, her plan is clear.
As her eyes open, Ajava taps her communicator and softly speaks some orders: "I have a plan. Ariana, go up to that ship. It is someone's escape vessel. If it's not the zabrak pilot 'Pat' from the briefing at the helm it's mandalorian. Either way make the ship go away, then get back here to back me up. If you see Hightower, use your best judgement.
Trigiel, this isn't our fight. Only back me up until the guy starts running again. The moment he does, stick with him and don't let him go, we don't need this fight. We need him or Hightower! I'll keep these three busy alone if need be. I can outrun them. If the runner goes away they have no reason to stay and fight anyway."
Then comes the taunting of the Sith trio:
"Come one then, weaklings! Who's first?", Ajava shouts out at the three as she grabs her lightsabers and turns them on. The two extending red blades illuminating her face just so, making her look less 'Jedi' and more 'angry Sith'. She puts one foot slightly forward, readying herself for a quick assault.
((OOC: It might be useful to give the three enemies some moniker or readily identifiable quality. Something like 'the fat one', 'the tall one' and 'the green one'. That would help with forming an image of who is where fighting who.))

((OOC: About the 'win scenarios', some missions actually sort of failed technically, but due to the achievements of the jedi, they still earned the xp, for example the Investigate the Riki-Markaru accident was not a real success, but the jedi found some interesting stuff, just enough to satisfy the parties. The A call for help... mission was technically an even greater failure, were the jedi eventually just made a call and hoped for the best. The result was good enough to satisfy the parties and thus the jedi received xp.
About the clues: Yes players sometimes miss clues. But sometimes this is intentional, as it is what their character would do. If you are wondering why players are missing the giant pointer saying 'look here!', you could ask ooc if this is intentional, or if the players just missed it. Aside this, if a player decides to miss a clue, than bollux for the player. It is not really the duty of the ST to force the players to the clues. And the players just have to live with the consequences of their own incompetence :). But again, it is is nice to ask first if they missed it ooc to prevent complaining players saying their ST is a sadistic 'doom and gloom' maniac :)
About the combat, as said by my colleagues, now the opponents are known as 'the 3 guys', however in combat it is rather difficult and confusing to attack '1 of the 3 guys', it is less confusing to attack 'the one with the cyborg leg' for example. Aside this, it also adds a little flair to the scene which is always nice ^^.))
"My pleasure, Master" Trigiel answered.
Trigiel kept himself at the sideline. He started walking around a little. Enough to be vigilant, but clearly not going to join the combat and not creating a gap for the guy-they-were-chasing to escape through. He was more like the closely observing wolf, waiting for the bears to finish their fight.
He kept an special close eye at the initially running man, and its potential escape options, like hover cars or explosions from below creating a whole in the roof. Damn, they really needed a identifier, okay the non-saber guy is now called 'running man' even though he is standing still at this moment.
However at no point, Trigiel let his guard down. Even though his sabers remained deactivated and hidden in his arm pockets. If one the saber-guys decided to attack him, he was ready to defend himself.
((OOC: I made no check yet, since this is round 0, which is technically a moment where nothing happens yet.))

Ariana trusted Shebi Ajava in her judgement. The ship was important for the current situation. This was not the time to fight.
"Roger that. On my way."
Instead of joining the fight as the combatants would probably have expected Ariana separated herself from the group and maneuvered towards the small ship. She tried to stay in the blind-spot, out of sight of the pilot when moving towards it. Using the force to give her extra speed she tried to catch up with the ship. Ariana wanted to know who was piloting the ship or when possible if she could reach it to board it in mid air.

Now that the trio had taken off their cloaks they could be more easily identified. The guy with the two lightsabers had a ponytail, the one with the saberstaff had a large scar across his face and the guy with a single sabre was bald.
Ponytail and Scarface were not very impressed by Ajava's taunt. The smiles on their faces made it clear they thought it was funny how confident she was.

Though open the rooftop was still loaded with obstacles that reduced the overall manoeuvrability of the ones still on the roof. Ponytail and Scarface engaged in combat with Ajava. They were skilled, very skilled in fact. And they worked together. Ponytail managed to lock one of his sabres with hers. Scarface quickly locked down her other sabre with a sweep from above. Pinning her sabre like that he slashed upward in a close cut aimed at Ajava's torso. Ponytail used his other sabre to stab at her at the same time. It seemed this had been his deceitful plan from the start!
Ponytail:
Scarface:
The runner sat down on some pipes, apparently not planning to run. He watched Trigiel rather then the imminent danger of Baldy. Baldy closed in and raised his sabre above his head to strike down the runner. Trigiel was still close enough to stop Baldy from killing the only real lead they had right now. But he would have to react quickly, as it didn't appear the runner was going to defend himself.
Baldy:
Ariana flew after the ship, seeing it slow down and shift into a hover above a nearby rooftop. Ariana closed in on the ship when suddenly an invisible force jerked at her wings, throwing her back the way she came from. With her jedi reflexes she narrowly managed to regain control, preventing her from slamming into the edge of the roof and probably breaking her wing. She was now back on the roof with the others, but not close enough to the runner to be able to save him. Her fellow jedi might need her help or she could try to get the ship again.

She was now back on the roof with the others, but not close enough to the runner to be able to save him. Her fellow jedi might need her help or she could try to get the ship again.

Ajava was glad that the two of them underestimated her. It allows her to execute a dangerous gambit.
She allowed ponytail to pin down her regular saber, making sure that she blocked his attack from just the right angle. As scarface brought down one end of his saberstaff, his attack received the same treatment with Ajava blocking his attack high with her dagger. Now, with both attack blocked from just the right angle, Ajava appeared helpess.
As scarface slashes upwards and Ponytail takes a stab with his second blade her gambit is revealed! As the block becomes untenable, she suddenly twirls to the side, like a dancer twirling around scarface, to put him in between herself and ponytail. During her twirl she uses the advantageous angle of the blade 'pinned' by ponytail, and pulls it away from ponytail without effort. Her other blade, the one seemingly locked by scarface, she slid down scarface's saberstaff intent on either destroying the weapon or his hands if he did not let go in time.
She won't admit it to anyone, but even though the combined attack by ponytail and scarface allowed her to execute her gambit, she was also severely pressed to defend against both their attacks at the same time, and the twirl was much less controlled than she had wanted.

"I can not reach the ship, an unknown force is keeping me away from it. I will try to disable it remotely."
Ariana quickly flew to the highest point of the building where she looks at the metal construction with the satellite dish on top of it. This immediately gave her an idea.
Ariana activates her regular bladed lightsaber and slices through the four metal bars near the base of the small metal tower. She uses the force to make sure it doesn't fall down. When she was sure the metal was not connected to the building anymore she deactivated her lightsaber and put it back on her belt. Ariana started flying up, slowly taking the metal object with her into the sky.
When Ariana made a distance of several meters away from the roof she hovered in place focusing all her energy on telekinesis. With her left claw she guided the metal tower towards the right engine of the ship, directing it as a spear towards its target. At this moment the metal tower was accelerating rapidly. It should impact the ship at a high velocity if it is capable of hitting the engine.
At the same time Ariana grasped the ship at its right engine forcing it down to the roof on a crash course. From a distance it looked like Ariana was crushing something with her right claw. This would force the pilot to land it on the roof and prevent him from dodging the improvised spear.
After loosing control of the spear Ariana tapped her communicator and opened a channel to their pilot Bob Bobson Junior.
"Bob track the location of my signal. We are currently in a fight with enemy combatants, we might need a hot extraction. Please come to our location as soon as possible. Do not engage."

((OOC: Trigiel has yet to post. I hope he does soon because I would like to post this week.))
((OOC: Woohoo, a full blown arena, with image and environment ^^ awesome.
Sorry for the late post, as said, I have some hardware issues lately.))
From his position, Trigiel quickly observed the situation. The Ponytail and Scarface seemed to be rather skilled with their blades, although Scarface doesn't seem to get the full potential out of his weapon yet.
Running man seemed way to comfortable in his current position, even though when Baldy was approaching Running man. Either meaning Running man is a naïve idiot, or he got some tricks up on his sleeve. Probably the latter one.
Then the problem is Scarface, his dual saber is just designed to take out a single opponent, so lets fix that.
Trigiel had to move quickly if he wanted to assault Scarface. He takes a short sprint, jumps over the pipes and slides past Baldy. Trigiel activates his purple saber to defend himself against any attack from Baldy. This move also should move Running mans attention to Baldy, or at least make him aware of the danger, if he wasn't already.
Then still on the ground, Trigiel kicks Scarface's legs, before rolling backwards and standing straight up ready to defend himself against the multiple of lightsaber threats and attack him in the back next round. In his roll, Trigiel moves towards the solar panels, using their potential to collapse in his defence. If he would be attacked, all he has to do is cut the pillars in a defence sweep and his attacker suddenly would have to think about the solar panel not hitting the attackers head.

((OOC: I believe Fitness is better suited, since you also use acrobatics. This gives you a score of 17 which is high enough against your target. approved
Since Scarface and Ponytail attack you together their attacks are combined, this leads to you being off-balance this round.))
Ajava's manoeuvre worked, Scarface's weapon was sliced in half! However, it came at a cost. The lack of control in her spin gave her opponents a temporary advantage they would certainly try to exploit. Scarface quickly jumped back trying to avoid further attacks from Ajava he now couldn't defend against. He tensed his arm muscles and small electric arcs started jumping between his fingers. Meanwhile Ponytail attacked with new vigour. With a barrage of attacks he flanked Ajava, trying to force her close to the roof's edge. Each strike had a lot of strength behind it.

((OOC: You are trying to force a ship down, a powered object that is actively countering a downward force (gravity). This is very difficult on it's own and you are trying to do something else at the same time. A check of 16 is not high enough to succeed. check: failed))
Ariana's attempt to force down the ship didn't do much, the pilot simply increased thrust. It barely increased the noise level of the engines. The improvised spear stopped in mid air.
At the same time, all three jedi could suddenly feel a massive Force presence on the ship. It rivalled that of the jedi masters and even outclassed some of them.
The spear turned in place, before shooting back to the battlefield.
Bob's voice called over the radio. "On my way. ETA damn quick."
Trigiel
((OOC: Your opponent is much stronger then you, despite this your check is approved Please put your check in your combat tag next time.))
Trigiel's blade connected with Baldy's, it shifted his attention from the Running man to Trigiel. The two exchanged a few blows and Trigiel could immediately tell he was no match for his opponent like this. Using the solar panelling Trigiel managed to get a more defensible position. The improvised spear originally thrown by Ariana shot past Trigiel. Baldy attempted to dodge it, but tripped over seemingly nothing. An angry scream of pain tore across the rooftops as Baldy was hit squarely in his shoulder. Piercing through flesh and bone it ripped his arm off with brute force.
The wrath on the face of the man, who should be knocked out cold or dead, was frightening. Using his lightsaber to singe the wound shut, he prepared to resume his attack on Trigiel.

Seeing that she could not do anything to the ship Ariana abandoned her current plan. "Screw this I want to hit something!"
While still flying above the rooftop Ariana decided to help Shebi Ajava with Ponytail.
She charged towards Ponytail with high speed. During the charge Ariana activated both her lightsabers. She dived into flanking position and attempted to force Ponytail into giving attention to her to give Shebi Ajava some space to move away from the edge of the roof. "Is this guy bothering you?"
