[14 -8] Delegation to the United Moons of Tunuarana
"I would gladly accompany you on the Bright Sagittari Emerald" Jaicen remarks before leaving towards the cruiser. "It is a pretty nice ship! Should've cost a lot"
After travelling through the halls with several of his drones towards the meeting room Jaicen talks shortly with an attendant of the crew and asks whether the special adjustments to his guest room are or could be prepared.
When entering the large meeting hall Jaicen politely greets everyone in the room and puts his hoverchair next to an empty seat, while his main droid takes the seat. His other droids remain at the edges of the room.
"Am I the last one? If so, then let us go! I got everything prepared!"
((OOC: I am not quite sure how the equipment part works, but here it goes (Although I've read the wiki)
- Hoverchair with computer, camera, scanner, communicator and storage units
- Spacesuit in storage unit, when activated it is encompassing his hoverchair
- Small blaster in a compartment of the chair (For emergencies)
- GT-100 droid with DEM crystal and a concealed yellow lightsaber
- 2-1B surgical/nursing droid
- One Astromech/Maintenance droid
- Data crystals with "downloaded" information about the moon (Maps, it's people, geological situation, important cities)
- Data crystal with his ID
- Several credits
- Food and drinks stored in the hoverchair
- Extra Fuel for the hoverchair
- Blood of a dead baby for ritual purposes ;)))

Ariana tapped her communication device and started to speak. "It seems everybody is on board. We are ready to go. Set course for sector 14 -8."
Take a seat and use the time we have on the journey to discuss the mission and our common interests. I will start writing a message to the Nomads to inform them of our arrival. Is there anything you want me to add?"

A rather large older Praetorian walked into the meeting room only a few seconds after Ariana said her last words.
He addressed the group that was seated in the large meeting room. "Welcome everyone. I am Perdo Condottiero, captain of this beautiful gem. If there is anything you need during the journey feel free to contact any of my staff, they will assist you whenever they can. The convoy is currently powering up their hyper-drives, we will jump into hyperspace in a minute. "
After addressing the group he turned towards Ariana. "It is a pleasure serving along side you again commander Danacia."
After these words the captain turned around and said: "I will be on the bridge during the journey if anyone needs me."
Exactly a minute later all the vessels in the convoy started to move in the same direction and they all jumped into hyperspace at the same time.

As for the equipment:
@Ariana, @Darones, @Gistor: approved
@Jaicen: denied. What kind of computer and scanner? I would like you to be more specific as to what they should be able to do.
Is it a translation computer (which requires training in the Linguistics Skill that Jaicen does not have), a calculator, a droid programming interface, a slicing tool? Is the scanner meant for radio frequencies, optics, infrared, seismic tremors? (I refer to Droidness, Data and Auto-Translation for an explanation of the weirdness of computers in this setting.)
Simply for information: Note also that your surgical droid is completely outclassed by Ariana, and your Maintenance droid is utterly outclassed by both Ariana and Darones. No droid can compare to a Jedi with training.))
Jaicen found the following general description in the Jedi libraries, together with some rough maps.
The United Moon Council, the governmental body of the United Moons of Tunuarana, consists of three representatives per moon, and is led by a democratically elected duke. Next to the government, the moons are home to a large number of religions, with new religions spawning every so often while old ones get forgotten. Most religions are nothing but scams, but once in a while, someone returns from the deep desert with wise words on their lips, and visions of the future.
The minor world has repeatedly rejected offers to join the Union, citing religious reasons as the reason.

United Moons of Tunuarana
The five inhabited moons of this system all orbit the gas giant Tunuarana. Tales from ancient times tell of lush grasslands and seas on the surfaces of the moons. But right now, the moons are unforgiving wastelands, dotted with small domed cities. The majority of the population of the moons is employed in metalworking, smithing and other primitive industries. The United Moon Council, the governmental body of the United Moons of Tunuarana, consists of three representatives per moon, and is led by a democratically elected duke. ((OOC: For the computer(s) on the hovercraft I had something like this in mind (added info)
- Program droid computer
- Data crystal reader/writer
- (Holo) Display for Data and recorded Camera/Sound
- Simple Calculator
- Camera
- Microphone
- Scanner for seismic activity and soil types
and I forgot to add
- Mechanical repair equipment if the droids get broken
Furthermore I know that the Jedi are vastly superior, but somebody needs to take me to bed at the end of the day ;)))

((OOC: Jaicen's equipment approved. In a more Jedi-oriented mission I would have been stricter on the gadgetting, but since others are also dragging along teams of inspectors (or a whole space ship in Ariana's case) I see no problem. There is an old, old thread on taking loads of equipment that might be of interest (to every Jedi player).))

"So these moons were fertily grasslands at first, that should be interesting if the cause of the geo-instabiltiy and earthquakes appears to be linked this harsh methodes of mining and excavations."
Darones started,
"Nevertheless it would be helpful to also get an idea of the current situation. Perhaps after you've sent the message, you could provide us with a little more information on the matter Ariana?"

"Don't draw conclusions like these too fast Darones" Jaicen remarked, "It could also be a natural effect of the environment of this planet. Or the planet could be sabotaged in the past: Things like orbital bombardment in the times of chaos could influence the ecosphere."
Jaicen looked further into the database of the crystal, trying to find if there were any recorded wars with big bombs or possible other leads towards ecosystem tampering. He also wants to find out when exactly the industrialisation started. Jaicen thinks that if they could pin the blame on another, evil, group, the moons might be more inclined to join the Union after this disaster or at least be more positive towards the Union.
((OOC: Am I allowed to ask for more information while I already obtained information out of the single object? I assumed there has to be more on the datacrystal than just 5 sentences. :)))
"I am also interested in what Ariana has to say about the subject, does she know more about geological stuff?" Jaicen asks

"Thats why I said if. I do not consider it to be likely scenario, but it should be one to consider if no other apparent causes are found."

((OOC: @Jaicen: You can always ask for details, and are always allowed to do so. Whether they are available is a second point. It helps if you are specific in what you want to know -- like you did just now ^_^))
The datacrystal did not contain an actual database, instead it contained a set of documents and reports from various sources, mostly Jedi travelling past the system and reporting the going-ons. Most of this information dated from a year to fifty years ago, and only sporadic documents are available before that time, some of them scans of handwritten reports.
Looking through the collection, Jaicen finds little record of wards or other tampering of the ecosystem. If there was any, it is clearly not a recent event. As far as the documents describe it, the moons were always wastelands with cities built around plants and other heavy industry. Calling it 'industrialization' is generous, as actual factories are far and few, most of the heavy industries are done through primitive means: beasts of burden, large furnaces fuelled with coal delved from the mines, and of course regular caravans to transport the intermediate goods to the next domed industrial city or space port.
((OOC: By the by, can someone start a story page for this mission?))

After sending the message Ariana turned towards the group. Ariana activated the presentation screen in the room and displayed the information they had on the United Moons of Tunuarana together with a star map highlighting the location.

"Am I to understand then that you haven't actually been anywhere near the moons in
14 -8, while on your last mission?"
Darones asked, just to clarify.
"Well, that does complicate things a bit, since we have no way of coming whether there story is actually true. Come to think of it, bringing this cruiser probably wasn't such bad idea after all."

Danar Gistor - PC
Seeing how the Jedi were busy preparing their arrival, Gistor remained calm and silent, letting them continue their conversation.
"So let me get this clear and correct me if I am wrong" While Jaicen calmly looked at Ariana. "You have only met a few of these people in person, were they even representatives of their group? All of this happened while performing an investigation on smuggling and there has not been any official request or report by their government to the Union for aid for us to verify this event even happened and they actually want or need our aid, maybe they could see it as an insult?" Jaicen' TG-100 shook his head in disbelief.
"And we are going to deliver a massive amount of Union goods to these people based on these flawed premises" Said Jaicen passionately. "By the force, Do we even have holo-news reports on it? I might be just an inexperienced Padawan on his first mission, but observing the facts this might be the worst idea ever."
"Could you please provide me with the mission report Ariana" Jaicen said calmly again, "To see if I missed anything."
Jaicen again turned towards the delegation: "Ow, Bayē Vidagdha, Gistor said you could elaborate on the possible situation on the planet, could you please do so?"

Go ahead and read the report, I am afraid you won't learn much more from it."
Go ahead and read the report, I am afraid you won't learn much more from it."
Jaicen's IG-100 puts the datacrystal in one of the sockets of his hovercraft and pulls op a screen. "Hmm, interesting... so did we actually get that anti-smuggling sensor and don't you think they wanted a bit...much for just a program which just detects some smugglers, Furthermore, couldn't we just hire some IT-programming guys which could make the stuff? I think the Union should not be used as a milking cow for unaligned worlds." Jaicen's IG-100 lets out a metallic sigh.
"Anyhow, instead of just whining, let's make the best out of it, be on our guard and be very carefull the goods are actually going to the people in need instead of the smugglers or rich people. I even think that the people on the ship could be the smugglers themselves. I am going to try to reach the planet on another channel, and hopefully get in contact with another person, first to see if our assumptions are correct."
With this remark IG-100 puts the datacrystal with data on the planet into another socket of the hovercraft and Jaicen pulls up a screen to see if there are any ways to contact someone on the planet, maybe a jedi which made a report mentions a friend.
If a contact adress (or several) are found in the data the IG-100 walks towards a communications console on the ship allow Jaicen to talk through it.
If no contact adress was found, Jaicen says: "I did not find any contact adress in the data. Anybody has any other ideas on how to reach our friends on the moon, if not could we suggest to our contact that we speak with the ministery themselves?"

((OOC: Two notes:
1) Apologies for not including the names of the moons earlier, I completely forgot about them. Please assume that they were mentioned in the Jedi data on the moons, but that the news report did not list which moon was hit by the quake, so no real information was missed.
2) It is not possible to simply 'call up' someone on another world, as there is no general communications infrastructure. This is possible in the Union, but not outside of it. You'll have to actually travel there, or send someone with dedicate communications gear (usually a small vessel or so) I refer tp Travel Times and Communication Speeds for more information on communication times.))
Bayē Vidagdha, the veolian environmental expert of Gistor's group of experts, quickly elaborates on the situation:
"The moons have been the barren wastelands they are now for as long as anyone can remember.", he starts, "There is a theory that the legends of waving green fields are based on truth, as several of the traditional geological features seen on desert planets are not found on the moons. I would caution against putting too much stock in the theory, since no further evidence has been found yet."
"In the last century, only a few earthquakes on the moons have ocurred as far as we know, the last two were on Chaundra and Neomea.", he looks at the Jedi and quickly adds: "The moons are named Neomea, Chaundra, Khons, Ooljee and Synthia. We do not know what moon was hit this time, but we know that the two previous quakes were severe."
Jaicen searches through the Jedi reports on the moons, and finds a few names of people that helped the Jedi that visited the moons, but most of those would be dead by old age now, though some might still be alive. None of these people had any contact information listed other than the village they live in. From his training Jaicen remembers that actual holocommunication requires a receiver to be set up and calibrated with the right transmitter coordinates, so it is most likely that none of the villages can be reached -- that is: there are no publicly known lines of communication available.

"Padawan Jaicen Hedoss, if that moon is indeed in trouble, don't you believe we of the Union are morally obliged to sent help? Or would you let countless suffer and die because they prefer to stay independent?
On your question about the programming. So far, none of our, any Union Member, IT-team seems to have succeeded in creating the right programming. If the Nomands have, than it is worth cooperating with them. And if they turn out to be smugglers, well... let's just say they will be out of order within the near future then.
Anyway, we of the investigation team have no questions and will let you jedi meditate if you desire."

"Yeah, of course we are morally obliged to help them!" Jaicen says with a smile "But we should not let our enthousiasm to help these people cloud our rational judgement and observe other possiblilities".
"Bwe, I don't really like meditating, but I am going to program my astromech droid some more. I will hear from you later" Says Jaicen as his GT-100 opens the door. With a small Humn Jaicen floats out of the room.
