[Ariana Danacia]

Ariana walks to her quarters where she puts her communicationpad on the desk and connects it to the ship. Her communicationpad is waiting in the corner of the room. It is configured to play a subtle sound when she receives a message.

Ariana sits down and starts to meditate.

After 13 days of travel, first eight days worth through Union territory with the first three days on the Bozzy Spine followed by five to travel through Deominius' territory to the border of the Union with 14 -8, followed by another five days worth of hyperspace jumps to move through deep space, the convoy arrives in the system of the United moons of Tunuarana.

"Jedi, we have arrived at the the system and are holding a far orbit around the gas giant Tunuarana.", came the voice of captain Pedro Condottiero over the comms. "I think it is best if you come to the observation deck to see this for yourself."

Arriving on the observation deck, the Jedi have a clear view of the green-ish gas giant and the five moons around it. The holotable on the observation deck displays a diagram showing the orbits of the five moons and their names. Several fragments of radio chatter make it clear that the third moon, Kons, has been hit by the quakes, as even now a lot of chatter about lack of food and medical support could be heard.

Even without going down to the planet it was clear from the fragments they pick up that this was not simply a severe quake. Next to the many religious broadcasts going the spectrum from ranting to the sinners for invoking the gods' wrath to prayers of mercy and aid for the victims of the earthquake, the Jedi pick up a few unencrypted seemingly objective messages. A few of these messages describe a green flash before the quakes started two months ago, several of the messages describe the extensive damage to cities and their domes, with most also including a report for the duke on the amount of food and other supplies left in their stores. Of particular interest is the text message of a scientist reporting to the duke that her team predicts the quakes to continue for the foreseeable future because the moon's tectonics have destabilized.

Several groups of vessels were clearly busy with rendering aid where possible. Among them Ariana recognized the Shining Answer as it is one of the three vessels of the Mu Collective, the nomads she spoke with during her previous mission. The vessel was currently situated outside of the normal in-system flight corridors and was outputting and receiving an enormous amount of encrypted data focussed on several cities on Kons. The other two vessels were nowhere to be seen at the moment.

((OOC: I love the high tempo of this mission, so I apologize for taking a few days to post again. Let's keep the up the speed! As always, I'm leaving the course of action up to you Jedi.

"Well, this system looks nice, but backwards, with all their religious nonsense." Jaicen remarks while taking a look at the moons from the observation deck.

"I suggest we contact the vessel with whom Adriana had the deal with first, and then ask the moons for an official audience with the duke, to explain our help and to obtain a decent view on the situation. So that we properly can direct our aid to those who are most in need. Ow, and while we are at it, let's ask for a decent communication possibility between them and the Union. And why is that ship sending encoded messages, or is that a normal procedure? Can we intercept and decrypt this data, or will that be a breach of privacy?"

After the respons on his proposal Jaicen adds the following, breathing heavily as if he performed a lot of physical work: "As Jedi it might also be an idea, after our diplomatic talks and if it is not clear after our talk with the duke, to investigate the cause and the weird greenish flash that so many people seem to report about."
With jaicen seemingly almost out of breath, the TG-100 droid takes over and with a monotonous voice it utters: "We are not really logistics managers after all, at least I did not train to become one. And I think we have people aboard who are much better at this."

[Danar Gistor]

“It seems that our intelligence is correct about the earthquake.”

Gistor looked at Jaicen with surprise and worry: “Everything okay, Jaicen?”

If everything is alright he continues: “An audience with the duke is a good idea and even preferable. I have here the latest known contact information we of the ministry of foreign affairs have, but it is already a little outdated so we are not sure if it still works. Aside from the audience and official introduction, we of the investigation group are particularly interested in the scientist report and her team, so if we are going to aid them in their research, we will try to make contact with her.”

[Ariana Danacia]

Ariana turned towards Jaicen. "Calm yourself padawan, we are not here to judge these people.

We probably could decrypt the data that they are sending but I am not going to at this moment. Let's first contact them. If you really want to know you could probably just ask them when we meet them.

It is not my mission to find out what happened on these moons, however we support the effort and will try to help your team when necessary.

I will contact the Shining Answer."

After talking to the others she walked towards one of the communication consoles on the bridge. She opened a communication channel.

This is Jedi Knight Ariana Danacia on board the Praetorian Cruiser Bright Sagittari Emerald contacting the Shining Answer of the Mu Collective.
We have arrived with Union support. Within a few hours the first transport freighters will be arriving with Food, Healhcare Products and Construction Materials.
Could you tell us where captain Aleixo Kindalin is or inform him of our arrival?
Our delegation wishes to talk to the Duke to inform him about our arrival and explain that we are here to help. Could you arrange this for us?

[Storyteller (Brend)]

The reply from the Shining Answer comes back quickly. The reply is, for reasons only known to the sender, in text format:

"This is the Shining Answer. Your message has been received Jedi Knight Ariana Danacia -- The news of your arrival will be relayed to Captain Kindalin. He is expected to return with the rest of the flotilla. ETA 6 hours -- We are free people of the Mu Collective and will not be ordered around. Arrange your own meeting with duke Xeironymous VI."

[Danar Gistor]

Gistor looked at the message and then said: "Well, that was to be expected, you know the nomads are like to be seen as independent people right? So why did you not try to make contact with the Duke himself?

Or are we going to sit here for 6 ours while the rest of our flotilla also arrives?" It was clear from he voice that Danar Gistor was not in the mood for waiting around.

[Ariana Danacia]

"I guess we will have to head to the duke ourselves. Although we still need to find out where he is. I will try the scanners of the cruiser to look for large population centers. Since leaders are usually in the largest city of the region, this would be my guess. We need to map the moons anyway to see what we are dealing with."

Ariana started to calibrate the scanners of the cruiser to scan the moons for large population centers.

[Pedro Condottiero]

"We will take the Emerald into orbit of Kons." said captain Pedro Condottiero over the intercom.

When Ariana started to calibrate the scanners she was immediately assisted by the sensor officer on the cruiser. The other crew members waited patiently and moved the cruiser into orbit of the moon Kons.

The captain was waiting for the group to make their move. After receiving the message he was a bit surprised. Since he had not much information about the nomads he waited for the Jedi to act.

"How do we proceed? Shall I send scouts to each of the moons to see what we are dealing with?"

[Danar Gistor]

"Jedi Danacia," Gistor said upset, "why won't you try the contact information we of the ministry of foreign affairs have for you? This might safe all of us a lot of time and effort."

[Ariana Danacia]

"My apologies Danar Gistor, I must have totally missed that part of information. I believe that as representative of the Ministry of foreign affairs you are the right person to open communications with the Duke."

[Darones Rei]

For the moment Darones said nothing as he watched the situation unfold before him. in was obvious something was amiss and the way the people of the moons seemed to conduct themselves was no as eradic as one might expect, showing that they were somewhat accustomed to earthquakes.

The information about the green flash however, spiked his interest and he started gathering more information about it. He also asked the Veolian member of the delegation, since he suspected he had some knowledge about terraformation, or would know a reliable source of information on the subject.

"Bayē Vidagdha, what do you make of this supposed green flash? Could it be a failed experiment in the field of terraformation or perhaps a malfunctioning module?"

Jaicen's droid facepalmed with a barely audible metallic clang. "Yeah, I should not judge these people, true." Jaicen answered when he had regained his breath: "And I should talk more slowely when I forget to take my medicine in the morning."

"Hmm, could it be a flare from the green Gas Giant, what is causing this?"

[Storyteller (Brend)]

The ministry of foreign affairs' environmental expert replied after some thinking.

"A single module would not create the level of earthquakes that we see here, so I doubt that it would have been a malfunctioning module. I have no idea how a failed terraformation experiment would create such a severe reaction. It might have been a natural phenomenon...", he seems pensive for a moment, "Then again, seeing how the previous recorded quakes occurred on Chaundra and Neomea, the coincidence of the third moon being struck is striking. If these are experiments, it seems a very ill-advised plan to run these tests on worlds that are inhabited. Maybe it has to do with the timing of some external event?"

[Danar Gistor]

While Gistor tries to make contact with the duke using the control panel Ariana used earlier, he listens in to the others: "They mentioned green flashes. The gas giant is green, might that have something to do with it?"

Gistor requests one of the crew members to stand by to send the letter of introduction from the ministry on his mark. If he succeeded in making contact: "Salutations, esteemed Duke Xeironymous the Sixth, we of the Praetorian Cruiser Bright Sagittari Emerald are here as an official delegation from the Union under escort of the Jedi. Upon hearing of the natural disaster on Kons, we immediately came with humanitarian help. We hope you have received our word of arrival. If not, we can send a letter of introduction if you wish."

If the recipient requested the letter of introduction, Gistor signed to the crew member to send the letter of introduction. In the letter was as short as possible explained with official words and carefully crafted sentences as to not offend anybody how the delegation is here officially on behalf of the Union with jedi escort. With the members of Gistors team mentioned by name and the letter signed by Minister Danar Tassar, Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Danar Gistor was able to contact the Duke's Advisor of Foreign Affairs. After sending the letter of introduction from the Union's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the advisor assured that the Duke will receive them. He does ask that, since the Duke's time is limited at the moment, the delegation send ahead a short list of questions or items of discussion -- that way things can be done smoothly and advisors on other topics can prepare information ahead of the meeting.

((OOC: I would like to speed up the meeting with the Duke by having a short list of four questions send ahead before the formal audience with the Duke. Of course, you'll have the option of dialogue with the Duke afterwards, but his time is limited :P))

"We should inform him of the Union aid. Possibly forge a relation between the moons and the Union, however this first conversation is probably not the right time for that.

However we should ask permission to research the cause of the earthquakes.

So, first we give a short introduction of our delegation of Union factions, we inform him that our aid is on its way and we ask for permission to research the earthquakes. Anything I am missing?"

[Jaicen Hedoss]

"Also, including we should ask for a communications method with the republic and ask where the our help would be most beneficial. "

[Danar Gistor]

“We of the ministry think that to begin with it would be wise to see if our, the Union, help is appreciated. When we offer our help while the duke and the people here don’t want our help than any action based on the assumption that they do want it would most likely lead to hostilities.

Then, once is established that they like our help, we of the fleet need to co-ordinate our supplies. The leaders of Tunuarana need to know what we of the Union have to offer, and we need to know who our people have to speak with and where the supplies need to go to.
An exchange of renewed contact information is desirable as well.

And finally while we of the fleet are here and our, the leaders of this expedition, people do their job we can offer to look into what caused this problem, in exchange of keeping a copy of the data of course.

In the end, when all is done, and we of the Union provided our help, we of the Senate can renew the offer to join the Union now that they have seen the benefits they can reap.”

[Storyteller (Brend)]

Bayē Vidagdha raises an eyebrow at the mention of a republic by Jaicen. After Danar Gistor explained what he thinks would be necessary, he continues.

"That is an interesting notion, Jedi Hedoss.", he adresses the Jedi, "Yet as far as we currently know, the United Moons of Tunuarana do not consider themselves a republic. I agree with you that an argument can be made for classifying them as a republic, as they have a chosen duke and a council of leaders. In fact their council counts 15 representatives, 3 from each moon."

He looks pensive for a moment.

"Unfortunately, we do not have information on the current council members, as contacting the representatives of Kons might help in getting permission to investigate on the planet itself..."

[Darones Rei]

"Certainly an interesting notion,"

Darones added as he heard the discussion between Jaicen and the Veolian member of the Ministry's team,

"However we should be mindful not to meddle in the affairs of state too much. Afterall, we are not here to enforce a certain point of view, but our primairy goal is to offer humanitarian aid."

[Jaicen Hedoss]

"I think I just misspoke, but indeed they could be classified as such. It is indeed too bad that we do not have any contacts, maybe we should ask the duke about it?"

[Danar Gistor]

"Then we of the ministry delegation think it is settled:" Gistor said resolute, "we of the ministry and Jedi will ask if our, the Union, help is appreciated. Then we will ask who to coordinate with, and where our help is most helpful. We will ask for up-to-date contact information and finally if we may help to investigate the matter.

All in agreement? Then I sent the list with four, or technically five, questions to the Duke’s advisor."

If nobody objects, Danar Gistor turns again to the communications console and sends the four questions to the Duke’s ministry of foreign affairs:

• We of the Union have humanitarian help in the form of food, healthcare and construction materials and are willing to send more. Is our help appreciated?
• In case our help is appreciated: Who do we have to coordinate our efforts with?
• Shall we exchange up-to-date contact information for swift and efficient cooperation?
• May we help in the investigation about what causes these earthquakes?

"I agree, proceed."
