[ Jedi Temple ] Training with the Xomlirga, second try
-

Shebi Ajava - PC
Ajava keeps walking while she answers Trigiel's question.
"It has nothing to do with sensing anything. It's just strange that there is no undergrowth at all. And even more worrisome is the lack of fallen branches, as if something is actively removing them."
Realizing the other two are not keeping up -- or following her, for that matter -- she turns around and waits for them to catch up.
"Are you two coming?", she asks with a tone that hints at impatience.
((OOC: I would take an actual action this post (like looking for a camp site), but since my two companion players are not actually taking actions with their characters the only action would be to leave them to their own devices.))

"Ow yeah, I am coming. I didn't quite understand what was happening" says Jaicen as he starts to follow Shebi Ajava. "Around we go, and I will try to keep my ears and eyes open."
Meanwhile Jaicen looks more closely to the area they go around, and tries to notice the lack of fallen branches and the lack of undergrowth.

Trigiel decided that it is probably most wise to follow Master Ajava, so he follows her around the open patch.

Shebi Ajava - PC
With both Jedi coming along, Ajava continues on while keeping an eye open for a suitable camp site.
Normally, she would pick a site somewhere high up in the trees to be cautious about ground-based predators. In this case, that is, the case where her companions already have trouble simply walking, she stays on the lookout for other options on the ground that provide at least some natural defence against predators. Preferably a spot that is not going to be overrun by nocturnal vermin.
She pays attention to small spots that would allow two people to sleep safely, since she herself does not need any sleep.

((OOC: Skill check APPROVED.))

After walking for another hour or so, Ajava became quite convinced that "safe, open spots" were not really a thing on this planet. However, she did eventually find a place big enough to contain them. Set between young trees, it was still somewhat open due to a tree which had toppled, giving further sight than most other area's (but still no more than ten meters or so). The ground was filled with mossy rocks, so it wouldn't be a comfortable place to sleep, but it would be safe and generally workable into a camp-site in any case.
The mossy rocks would also help against any nocturnal vermin as those tended to prefer more mushy locations, while the denseness at the borders of the area provided at least a bit of a barrier. It was probably the best place they were going to find in a while.
Just as they settled that the spot was good, however, a small change might make them reconsider the comfort of their situation: rain started falling, and not just a little. At first it was just audible above them. Then raindrops started leaking in between the leaves. But eventually the rain started pouring down when canopy above could no longer contain it.

"Shebi Ajava, could I strap myself loose so I can find a sleeping place?" Jaicen asked, just before the rain started falling.
"Well drats, this rain wil soak my clothes in no time and TG-100 looks sad now, we should make a shelter, can we cut some trees or canopy to make a shelter?" Jaicen said hopefully as he looked at both Jedi?

Shebi Ajava - PC
Ajava looked at Jaicen with a quizzical expression.
"We're not going to cut some trees... Besides, do you know how to build a shelter?"
She was silent for a moment as she looked at the increasingly wet camp site.
"Why don't both of you put up your tent? I'll stick around and keep an eye on things."

((OOC: I have 'sleeping equipment' with me, does this also include a small tent?))
Jaicen lets himself strap loose and be put against a rock by TG-100. Meanwhile TG-100 starts building a nice (and hopefully dry) sleeping place.

Being mostly mechanical parts, Trigiel did not really required a tent. At the other hand, staying dry would prevent a lot of issues concerning rust, dirt adhesion and growth of vermin in the joints. "I propose to use some of the large leaves for a shelter, I have rope which we can use."

((OOC: Since no-one is doing anything, I felt it prudent to post an acknowledgement of the current situation; this thread has been stagnant for 9 days already.))
Ajava takes no further action, and simply watches the other two Jedi fumble about as it the amount of rain increases.

((OOC: yeah well, I 'd to continue too, but I am actually waiting for the GM to do something, since I cannot call the sleeping place to be finished. I can see, we sleep the night and continue, but that is up to the GM))
When Ajava silently approves of Trigiel his idea, the cyborg knight starts to construct a shelter using the local natural resources like large leaves and branches and such.

((OOC: My apologies for the slow posting, I've been a bit stuck, but I think I've found my groove once again ^_^))
As the rain continued to pour as if the oceans themselves were being empty, the team set up camp as dryly as they could, settling down to sleep. In Jaicen's dream, fish were falling out of the sky with all the water, and the Jedi rituals attempted to stop them only caused bigger and bigger fish to fall down, until eventually a giant whale fell out of the sky on top of them.
The dream was closer to reality than one might think, as when Jaicen awoke, he found his small tent had collapsed as the rain had washed away the dirt holding the tent-pegs in place on the ground. Luckily by then, it was already morning, or so the clock said - in the dense darkness of the forest, it was hard to tell day from night.
One thing the three Jedi had noticed, however, was the change in animal sounds that had taken place in the evening. At night there were fewer shrieks and less shaking of the branches above, but now the same sounds had started once more, so apparently it was day all the way up there.
If anything, Trigiel was reminded of some of the mega-cities he had read about, or maybe had even been to, where skyscrapers blocked out the daylight of the under-levels and day and night were differentiated only by changes in traffic.
With the morning came one welcome thing, however, for as the Jedi had breakfast, the finally came to a halt, the sound of water hitting leaves quickly being replaced by the buzzing of bugs and the croaking of insects, coming out of their hiding places now that the rain had stopped.
But that wasn't the only thing coming out of the woodwork, so to speak, for just as they had finished packing up their camp to move ahead again, a woman stepped out of the bushes behind them.
Despite their Jedi senses and sharp eyes and hearing, none of them had noticed her, not even Shebi Ajava with her sharp Jedi mind, or Trigiel with his high quality sensors. The woman seemed Remunzian from her humanoid figure, though her body was young, childlike almost. Her eyes were an indigo, almost violet purple, seeming to glow and they were huge, staring into each of them like their flesh wasn't there and she was looking straight at their bones... or souls. Whatever it was, those eyes held someone much older than a child behind them.
The woman was dressed in a mixture of furs and woven plants and she was dirty, mud and grime having built up on her skin, twigs in her tangled hair of which the original colour was impossible to tell with all the plant matter that had rubbed through it over time. She went barefoot but there was jewellery hanging from every part of her body - all made of wood, dried flowers and twigs, woven grass and other handmade works.
She walked with a staff which was decorated in several places with the skulls of dead birds, lizards and other animals, and from her form came a mixture of the distinct smells of fresh earth, mud and compost heaps.
The woman did not speak, simply looking straight through them, as if dissecting their souls like a frog in a biology class. A frog which might have been a tad too far in terms of decaying to offer much in the way of learning.

Like the woman observing them, Trigiel observes the woman in return. At the same time, he also goes through a quick routine check for his parts. Not that he could check a lot by standing still and looking at the strange woman, but every piece of check-up is better than none.
((OOC: I made no check on purpose since I expect the others to do something as well on which I will react.))

Trigiel found that his parts were still where they had been before, and their status had not changed. His sensors were working just fine, leading to two possible conclusions: either this woman was able to move around very quietly, or she had some sort of dampening field generator which modulated her sound output. Perhaps it was hidden in her staff?

Shebi Ajava - PC
Ajava is a tad annoyed that she did not hear the creature approach. Then again, this is her domain.
She gives a nod of respect to the creature before speaking.
"Greetings, you must be the Xomlirga.", she simply stated in galactic basic, "Please forgive my two companions for their inability to appreciate the surroundings. Both of them have become dependent upon much technology, yet they still wished to seek you out to learn."

Jaicen looked around a bit startled, when the woman appeared and he looked around to see if there were more creatures in the bush.
He remembered the falling whale and started comparing the woman to it in his head.
A second later Jaicen quickly shook his head and he regained his composure. Luckily he had already strapped himself in, since they were having their breakfast and could move.
Jaicen added to Ajava's introduction: "I am Jaicen, Madam Xomlirga, and I would love to learn."
Jaicen looked quickly to Trigiel and asked quietly, "I brought a seed of a plant which does not grow here as a nice gesture, could I give it to her now?"

Trigiel shocked and surprised quietly answered Jaicen: "You didn't seriously... " *sight* "just wait."
Then Trigiel said to the peculiar woman: "Greetings, I am Trigiel and I indeed wish to learn."

The woman, or girl perhaps, looked over Jaicen and Trigiel, and then Ajava once more.
"Meet me up there." she pointed up and slightly to the side, to the canopy of a large tree - to be fair, all the trees here were large, but this ones trunk was especially thick, covered in slippery wet moss, with no branches for the first 15 meters or so "And try not anger the Poopingbirds. They get restless after it has rained"
Within a split second, the figure disappeared into some nearby bushes, as if there was some sort of mystical portal there that would teleport her up to the treeline, though if one of the Jedi looked, there was no such portal - perhaps she was merely disappearing so as not to give a hint of how they were going to climb a 15 meter slippery wet tree trunk that went straight up.
Shebi Ajava's fine tuned master senses picked up some minor movement through leaves, but really the Xomlirga was a very quiet creature.
((OOC: Your next challenge is to find your way up into the canopy. Please be sure to make at least one check, cause just declaring you "climb up" won't cut it here ^_^))

Trigiel's first thought was to make use of the grappling hook, but he immediately realized that this defies the purpose of this whole expedition.
The cyborg looked around: "I think we better take a small detour via the smaller trees to work our way up to the larger one. With so many trees, we should be able to find a natural ladder to up there."

Jaicens first incentive was to cut the whole tree down with his lightsaber, but he did not utter this to the rest of his teammates, knowing it was a bit silly.
"The canopy is quite thick indeed in the top and I think we can reach the top by climbing smaller trees." Jaicen started to look around for a smaller tree upon which he was able to climb.
((Check: 8 = 5 Force Level + 3 Vision -- Looking for a small tree with extensions which Jaicen might be able to climb))
"Or... maybe a stupid notion, but since it is a living forest, could we ask the tree to show us the way?"

Shebi Ajava - PC
"Climbing other trees and walking on branches to reachi the canopy is a good suggestion.", Ajava acknowledges Jaicen's idea.
"I'll see you both at the top then?", she asks with a smile as she looks around; she looks for an older tree, preferably one without poopingbirds in it.
Without waiting for an answer she runs up to the tree and, using her speed to run up the branchless first meters of the trunk, lithely jumps from branch to branch.

Jaicen looked with a little awe on how fast Shebi could jump on the tree branches and a slight jealousy started to form before Jaicen focused on his goal.
"Jaicen, I think that the trees can show you the way, but therefore, you have to look yourself." Trigiel answered Jaicen.
Trigiel also looked for a way to the top of the tree using other trees. 'It is just like climbing buildings' he thought to himself while looking for a way, 'only a lot easier with more flagpoles to grab onto.'
The jedi cyborg looks for a way and starts climbing. He tries to make sure he finds a way which is also sort-of suitable for Jaicen. His master might abandon them, he would at least try to give his padawan some guidance.
