((OOC: Dragonmaster352 has asked me to do the training mission. I've been ill for the past few days, but I am feeling somewhat better now, so I'm going to get us started!))

Denari received a message on her com.

Padawan Denari Merelle,

Have you settled in on your new location? If so, it is time to begin your training. You will find that the Jedi Temple provides training in many different ways and you may need to improvise at times.

The first step of today's training mission is to make your way to Training Room 3. Let the force guide you in what equipment to bring. If you encounter anything unusual, I trust you to know what to do.

Jedi Master Screetor

Surely that couldn't possibly be more vague.

((OOC: You deliberately have zero info on what's going to happen, so make of that what you will. I can tell you that Training Room 3 is inside the temple, so you probably won't need a spacesuit or stuff like that ^_^ Please let me know your equipment with your post. Without a message to the contrary, I will presume that after your next post, you are heading to Training Room 3 and I can continue, so if you want to, say, visit the quartermaster first, you need to note this explicitly.))

Just as she returned to her room from the gardens, the message came in.

She put her backpack in a corner, took her Jedi robes off and put in carefully on the bed. She felt that, with the people she had met and the message from Master Screetor on her comm, there would be other ways to clear up misunderstandings. Ways that did not limit her freedom of movement as much. Her animal companion Spades flew a few circles through the room before settling on the bag, not seeming entirely happy about her new environment.

"I'll see if I at least get you something decent to sit on later", Denari promised Spades as she donned her hoodie, put her comm-unit in a hidden pocket, and readjusted her belt.
She spread out the content of her leg holster bags to check if everything was still in working order and in an attempt to be critical about what to bring.
As everything put together had never been much, she decided to pack everything again, except for all but one dried fruit-nut-cereals bars.

When she was packed and ready, she helped Spades get on her shoulder via her arm and left the room, locking the door behind her.

"So, Training Room 3 huh? Hmmmm... No. Let's first go to the quartermaster to ask for your bed. That also gives me time to decide if I need anything else from her, besides directions if no floor plan names a 'Training Room 3'." She didn't say it, nor did she need to because Spades knew, but she had heard Quartermaster Nishra is a Theelin and she was actually very exited to meet her.

((OOC: Apologies for the delay in response. I will introduce Jaicen not too far into the future))

After getting changed, Denari made her way through the Jedi Temple to find the quartermaster. It wasn't that difficulty, the quartermasters office was one of those places that every Jedi visited with some regularity.

As she arrived she noticed another Jedi working at the clothes printer, a device that was able to make a large amount of different types of clothing for various missions. For a moment, Denari might feel disappointed as the quartermaster wasn't in sight, but then she noticed a purple mohawk sticking out from under a vehicle - the quartermaster was apparently fixing something on the bottom side of a speeder.

After a few moments, she slid out from under the speeder, noticed Denari and hopped up.

"You're the new Padawan aren't you?" she realized "Looking to get some furniture and such for your room?" she inquired

As she arrived at the quartermasters office she observed the Jedi that was busy with the clothes printer for a moment before looking for the quartemaster. She was indeed a little disappointed when she didn't spot her at first, but that did not last long as she spotted a purple mohawk soon after.

She took a few eager steps towards the speeder and was about to say something before changing her mind. Instead she walked around the speeder to appreciate its body and estimate how fast it should be able to go, before stepping back and waiting for the quartermaster to finish.

After she got up and finished speaking, Denari greeted the master with a formal bow and said "I am Padawan Denari Merelle, and I am indeed new here. It is an honour to meet you Quartermaster Nishra." She was obviously somewhat impressed by the quartermaster's ability to guess what she came for. Not that it came as a surprise, she was a Jedi master after all, but she appreciated the thoughtfulness anyways.

"I am looking to get something for that room for Spades here to sit on" she said as she ruffled the feathers on Spades chest gently. Spades responded to the gesture with a ruffle and a shake to get the plumage back in order, drawing a smile from Denari.
"Something like a sand box for under it would also be nice, for hygienic purposes... Do you have anything for that? If so, can I come pick it up later today? I need to get to Training room 3 after this. Speaking of which, can you tell me where that is?"

"Spades ey?" the quartermaster inspected the critter critically a moment.

"I am not usually a furniture I give out - or the equipment for that matter - being used as a toilet..." was she angry? It seemed like that for a moment, but then the smile revealed that the Quartermaster was just pulling a leg "However, I think in this case we can make an exception. What type of creature is it anyway? I want to make sure I get the right seat for Spades."

"Training Room 3 is just down the hall, down the stairs and to the left. There's signs there with numbers, just follow the ones for number three once you reach the stairway. By the way, if you sing, you should come visit the chanting group. It sounds a lot more religious than it is, despite some attempts to change that." she winked, as if she had been the one to put a stop to those attempts. Theelin were known to be good singers, though of course some broke the mould on that.

"Also, in all seriousness, please make sure any equipment I lend you for missions is not used as a toilet. If you do, some poor padawan might get assigned to clean it." it wasn't entirely clear if that was a threat, a warning or a general statement of fact, but what was clear was that the quartermaster took her task in managing equipment - and keeping it clean - seriously.

((OOC: Btw, Spades totally deserves their own page on the wiki, btw ^_^ If you have a picture, it'd be even more awesome!))

While inspecting Spades, the quartermaster could see it was a 30ish centimetre long bird of prey of some kind. Most of its feathers were different shades of dark grey, getting darker near it's head and tail, except the ones on her thighs and lower belly: those were orange-brown-ish. During her inspection, the quartermaster was likewise critically inspected by the bird's dark brown eyes.

When it was clear the quartermaster was just pulling a leg, Denari's mood visibly lightened. "She's a bat-falcon," she started enthusiastically. "They usually inhabit open woodland and forest clearings, but this one pretty much likes going anywhere but polar regions and big, busy cities."

She listened attentively to the directions and made a mental note going 'down the hall, stairs, left, sign 3 at stairway' before responding to the invitation.
"Is the chanting group purely a cappella or are instruments also welcome? You see, I usually only sing with very close friends and family or for animals and small children as I tend to let my force leak out during self expression and frankly that has no place in public performances, unless you're a Jubba bird of course." She paused for a moment and, upon realising she was rambling, continued in a somewhat calmer manner. "I've learned to keep it in check, but it's just not as fun when singing. It happens with some instruments as well, but then I can control it better and keeping it in check does not spoil the fun. Now that I think about it, I'll give it a try anyways as I've never sung with a chanting group before."

"There's no need to worry about her using equipment as a toilet. She hates using artificial structures for it. It took a serious amount of effort to get her to use an old cardboard box I designated for when she couldn't go outside. If she does feel defiant though, I'll make sure to clean it before handing it in."

"Thank you very much for your help and the directions Quartermaster Nishra", she made a formal bow before taking her leave, "We will drop by again after training."

After giving Quartermaster Nishra a moment to say anything more, she turned and left for Training room 3.
She went down the hall to the stairs, descended and looked for a sign with numbers and another stairway somewhere on the left.
If she found the signs she would follow the number 3.

((Check: 11 = 4 Force Level + 5 Vision + 2 Tracking and Navigation -- -looking for the sign with numbers and following numbers 3))

((OOC: I'm still working on a picture for Spades. As soon as I've got that, I'll make her a page. Someone can probably expect a PM to explain to me how to do that though ;)))

"Instruments are very welcome." the quartermaster gave Denari a smile "Just come by, it will be fun. Go on and get to your training, I will have the things you need moved to your room"

Soon Denari was moving down the halls - luckily they were designed for easy navigation so following the signs was easy enough. The halls seemed empty, but she could hear the footsteps and muted talking of others here too.

As she made her way along, every once in a while, she spotted someone. One of the Jedi masters she had met passed by through the large hallway, giving her a nod but going about his business. A group of younglings were passing by on their way to a class. On the other side of the hall, she noticed Salia peeking out from behind a pillar, then quickly rolling a huge barrel to the other side before anyone could see her, and disappearing from the hall again on the other side. Oh, and there was Jaicen, flying in his hover chair!

As they made their way to training room 3 Denari decided to walk along the middle of the hallway, just for the hell of it. She bowed respectfully to the master and smiled naughtily as she watched Salia doing something she was probably not supposed to do. As she was walking, she carefully observed her surroundings, taking note of how she could best get through this hallway undetected, should the need or desire ever arise.

Meanwhile Spades leisurely flew up, down and across the hallway, occasionally making a sharp turn to zig-zag between the pillars. One such stunt was smoothly followed by a large, low circle around Salia as she was almost on the other side of the hall with her barrel.
As they neared Jaicen, Spades returned to Denari's shoulder.

Jaicen nodded towards Denari, seeing her twice this morning, just after he'd come out of the library floating his way towards his next appointment. After a few seconds, when he noticed Denari was apparently going the same way as him and TG-100 he remarked: "Are you following me, or do you also have an appointment in training room 3 with Master Screetor?"

Denari returned the nod towards Jaicen.

When TG-100 adressed her, she contiued to walk as she replied: "Ah, I have indeed been told to make my way to Training room 3 by Master Screetor."
After a pauze she gave TG-100 a puzzeled look and asked:
"What would even be the fun of following you without trying to hide my presence?" This honestly seemed to puzzle her.

As they where talking, she continued to make her way to training room 3.

"A great, we will see what he has in store for us. In my training session I had to search for crystals through the Jedi temple."

As a reply to her other question Jaicen responded with: "I wouldn't know." and he kept hovering.

Denari shrugged her shoulders after Jaicens reply. As she did so, Spades compensated for the movement to keep her head at the same position.

She remained on Denari's shoulder as they walked to training room 3 in silence.

Finally, the two padawans arrived at Training Room 3. The room was dark when they opened the door, but the lights jumped on automatically, illuminating the huge room.

The area they entered was flat, with some weights on a rack to the left. Ahead, the floor made a sudden drop some five meters down over the full width of the room, with red padded mats at the bottom forming a sparring arena for martial arts. Throughout the area were several pillars reaching up to the height they were at now, some distance apart to form terrain - and a path to hop over the pit to the other side.

On said other side was a climbing wall which led up to a platform at least twenty meters above the ground, with various artificial footholds and handholds to support climbing. At the top, Master Screetor was meditating.

"Beware..." he spoke "Some Jedi believe that the floor of this arena is made of lava. Make your way up here together, and then we shall continue."

((OOC: You will need to cross the pit and make your way up to Jedi Master Screetor. You can jump into the pit - at your own perril - or try to make your way across jumping between the pillars. This would require a check. Once on the other side, you will need to find your way up. One way would be to climb the wall, which also requires a check. Each of these checks uses Fitness as an attribute, but you can choose your Skills. However, other means may be available to you as well, in which case you can use those abilities.

Please be sure to include any checks that may apply in your post, and remember - both - of you need to get up there to succeed!))

"Well, this is not my specialty, but I guess it's yours. Can your bird hold me while we are flying there?" TG-100 said while the smile Jaicen made it obvious the bird-thing was a joke.

"I guess I should strap myself on TG-100, so if you're willing to wait a few minutes I will be ready. Ow, if you don't want to show off you can check whether the floor over there is lava by throwing some water on it. It'd also be nice if you had a rope, so that in the case of falling we don't fall that far and you might help me if you get on top first" Then he directed TG-100 and his medical droid to strap him onto the back of TG-100. While strapping in, Jaicen consulted his astromech and his memory on the layout of the temple around the training room. Maybe there was an elevator on the other side, which would make this easier.

((Check: 10 = 5 Force Level + 5 Reason -- Remembering / Checking with the Astromech whether there is an easier way to reach Master Sceetor's place, outside of the training room. Jaicen has been here for a year or two now.))

'Oh YES!! Ravine and mountain, not bad for indoors' Denari thought to herself as she saw the room. Spades eagerly took off from Denari's shoulder to show off her flying skills. A broad grin appeared on Denari's face.

After Master Screetor had spoken the grin disappeared and she looked Jaicen over attentively. 'Now how are we supposed to get that over there?'

Her toughts were interrupted as TG-100 started speaking. She turned her attention to the droid and therefore completely missed the hint that the bird remark was a joke. She looked from Spades to TG-100 and back. "How do you suppose that would work? Can you miniaturise yourself or something?" Then Jaicen's smile cought her attention. "Oooh, nevermind."

As she listened to Jaicen's proposal some slight improvements to the plan popped up in her mind.
"It's probably best if you strap yourself to TG-100 indeed. It seems capable enough to make those jumps and climb the wall. I doubt I'd be strong enough to carry you.
"Unfortunately I do not have rope with me. I've never really needed it before and I kinda assumed this was a solo training. Anyways, I'll go check the lava. Maybe I'll find some rope somewhere."
She had considered offering to help Jaicen get strapped in, but his droids seemed to have some routine in this. She also guessed he preferred to rely on the droids: why else would someone always have the two-besides TG-100- tag along, while there are medical facilities at hoovering distance and plenty of people around to lend a helping hand? She decided to keep this thought to herself though and walked over to the rack.

She took one of the lightest weights from the rack, walked to the drop, looked if there was no-one down there who could get injured and dropped it on the mats. She wasn't going to waste precious water on a test like this. She carefully observed the weight as it fell and landed.
After that, she proceeded to check the sides of the room, to see if the walls or -secret- passage ways could let Jaicen/TG-100 get closer to the platform safely and easily. While walking from one wall to the other she looked around for rope.

((Check: 10 = 4 Force Level + 5 Vision + 1 Force Vision -- --ckeck if no-one is down in the drop before dropping the weight and observe the weight as it falls and lands)) ((OOC: As no adverse visibility conditions have been mentioned, I decided to not do a check for the other looking around things. I'm not entirely sure if general Force Vision is applicable for properly observing something that happens 5 m away or not, so if that part of the check is redundant, please let me know.))

As she walked back over to Jaicen, she noticed that Spades had settled down at the edge of the platform, perhaps enjoying the sight of the bipeds struggling to get the dysfunctional biped across. "See any rope from up there, ptítsa?" she asked her friend. ((OOC: Is it ok to place Spades there, or is that taking too many liberties?))

((OOC: Welcome back!))

Jaicen got himself strapped to TG-100, something he'd done many times and could do without issue, as Denari grabbed one of the weights, dropping it down the ravine.

Looking down, she observed that gravity continued to work normally during the entire fall, but rather than splash into any lava, the mats safely caught the weight as it reached the bottom, slowing its fall and catching it. Most likely, having actual lava in a training room would be unsafe, not to mention expensive. Still, dropping down there would probably not be very successful.

Checking with the Astromech for an easier way to get to Master Screetor, Jaicen found that they could leave the training room, walk through the hallways outside, take the elevator up and then go in again at the door at the top of the room. It'd certainly be a lot easier than jumping between pillars and climbing a climbing wall.

Checking the sides of the room, Jaicen and Denari noticed there were some handholds along the side, mostly intended to hang equipment from, but certainly workable - if they wanted, climbing along that way would work as well.

Standing near Jaicen, facing the drop, Denari reported her findings:

"The mats are just mats, but getting down there might still be a challenge, as I found nothing that resembles rope or something rope could be made from. Pillars are probably a better way to go." she said with a smile.
"There are also handholds on on the walls," she continued immediately in a more serious tone. She turned to look Jaicen in the eyes. "Those would work fine as well."

She continued to look at Jaicen, expecting him to indicate a preference for either the pillars or the hand holds on the walls.

Jaicen responded: "Lava would be expensive to maintain for just a training room I suppose. yeah. But you can go take the pillars Denari, I will find my own, much more easier, way, which, obviously you can also take if you want to follow me. I really dislike the handholds by the way." TG-100 then made a wave with his hand, indicating Denari could go first and jump on the pillar.
When Denari jumped on the first few pillars or she indicated she wanted to join Jaicen, Jaicen turned around and left the room, taking the other route with his droids.

"Not taking the most obvious route is also an option I have learned." Jaicen responded. "While you were pondering about how to get over lava I've asked my astromech for the blueprints of this place. It seems we can just take the elevator."
