I'm afraid not. She stopped me before I could do anything.

((OOC: well personally I find it annoying to go back pages to read old posts again if a little time has past. I just try to combine it in a more fluent post. but fine, if people find it annoying I can stop it of course.))

Ariana and Trigiel

"Go right ahead" the researcher stepped aside to let Ariana make the entry with her lightsaber, something she easily did, leaving glowing metal in her wake.

"Our species has an average lifespan of about 80 years. So it has been... thirty generations or something like that. Naturally that makes getting a match hard, so we look for specific signature traits that the royal family has but no others.

The vandalisms were just drunks taking advantage of bad security - maintaining these tombs is way too expensive to keep doing it for some very ancient history. Hence why it was welded closed."

Heading inside, the researcher lit up a chemical torch to illuminate the hallway, which led further down to two heavy stone gates. They were slightly ajar, allowing access deeper into the tomb.

Nalan, Nathan and Ajava

Nalan quickly hurried back to the group, rejoining them in the main hall.

"I think I spent the better part of a decade in that area. I think I will invite him to stay here at court - strictly as a guest of course." the would be king reassured "Can't have a Hutt making decisions in my kingdom, that just would not do at all."

He paused "Now, shall we get to the DNA testing or do you have more questions?"

Although Ajava was very irritated by Arianna's unthoughtful behaviour, she did not let such show outside.

"I just received a message that our genetics expert is currently unavailable, my humble apologies for this.", she replied while smiling at the alleged heir. "Although, as the heir, you surely have documentation such as family trees proving your ancestry? If so, I would much appreciate to examine such documents. After we take records of such documents, we shall leave you to your business and return later on the day, or tomorrow if it pleases you, to take the DNA samples."

"Can you slice into the ship from outside?", Ajava telepathically asked Nalan.

((OOC: My interpretation of Ariana her post is that she did not cut open the tomb, as we wanted to hear what the scientist had to say, I understand if you want to speed things up, but only when the door does not cause any harm to the indoors of the tomb, as apparently some vandals has been here, and we don't wanna muck with evidence.

I skip back in time a little bit with my post to make it more consistent with what Trigiel would do.))

The more Trigiel heard, the more his suspicions grow about the whole happening, he even had the idea that they were simply lied to and that this 'tomb' was nothing more than a children's story to misled them, but for now he played along.

"Well, thirty generations... that change some things. And raises some questions. Ariana, can you contact the others of this fact, they might want to ask questions about it. And please be careful when opening the door, we don't want to muck with any evidence of 'vandals'." Were Trigiel made quote signs with his hands. "In fact, let me first take a look before to cut the door open." Trigiel inspected the door, looking on any evidence either of vandals, or ways of how and when to door was placed. Either to confirm or deny the claim of the scientist." ((Check: 11 = 4 Force Level + 5 Vision + 2 Mechanical Engineer, sensitive optics (infra red, ultra violet, night sight zoom function) -- I check for evidence of vandalism, or suspicious signs.))

When Trigiel had inspected the door, and Ariana had carefully cut open the door, he stepped inside the tomb. The first thing he did was looking for any signs of vandalism, before he let the scientist in. ((Check: 11 = 4 Force Level + 5 Vision + 2 Mechanical Engineer, sensitive optics (infra red, ultra violet, night sight zoom function) -- I check for evidence of vandalism, or suspicious signs indicating that the story of the scientist is wrong.))

"Tell me, Trigiel said to the scientist, "I am very interested in these 'vandals', please tell me in detail what has been discovered, what they had done and what your people had done in return, yes I follow the news sometimes and if I am not mistaken, they were inside, so I am very interested in the very small details of what happened.

I also wonder, do you have any idea why the genes of the leader were not stored in a data-bank? This technology should had been accessible after the disappearance of your leader. We all know that keeping such information stored in a data-bank is not only much safer, but also a lot cheaper than maintaining a tomb."

Suddenly an idea popped into Nathan's head.

"Excuse me, sir, but I still have some questions." He said. "You said the Hutt was very generous. Is that where you got this ship? And your guards' equipment. Because those things are expensive. Anyone that can afford that..." He paused. "I find it unlikely that any group or person that can afford that could remain hidden for nearly a thousand years."

Meanwhile he communicated with Miss Shebi.

"Could this be a plot by the Hutts? I'm not very familiar with them but last I heard they weren't exactly on friendly terms with the Union. Scir is near the centre of Union territory and connected to the Bozzy spine. A strategic location."

"Is your communicator broken? You can contact Shebi Ajava if you want them to ask questions to the self-proclaimed heir. Maybe we should talk to the detectives that looked at the crime scene when it was violated. Maybe they can tell us what happened here. " Ariana turns to the researcher. "Can you arrange a meeting with the detectives that examined the scene some time ago?"

Ariana carefully removed the grate with her light saber and went into the tomb. "There is no harm in looking around for ourselves, since the investigation is finished."

"No, my communicator works fine," Trigiel said a little annoyed, "but I was inspecting the door. Also I don't have telepathy, maybe that would had been useful, but well I will contact them."

After Trigiel did his inspections, he opened a channel to the group padawan at the 'king', "A small update, we heard that the kaminoan leader has been gone for roughly 30 generations, the bossy dude should have some interesting story to tell about his grand grand grand parents. Also, does any of you remember the news about vandalism on Scir? I know there was something about that, but I can't remember the whole new flash."

The message from Trigiel was received lood and clear by Nathan.

He looked the news report up on the Holonet.

"I looked it up, it doesn't say if the perpetrators where ever caught."

Suddenly he realized something. He opened a comm link to all the padawans with a communicator. ((OOC: sorry Nalan that excludes you.))

"We need to finish our current tasks and then convene ASAP. If my suspicions are correct we need to move fast."

As Nalan entered the room with the others she stood slightly behind Shebi Ajava.
She greeted all the people in the room with courtesy and then remained speechless for the time being.

Hard to say. If there are terminals or some sort of system on the outside it is possible. Perhaps even slicing into the hardware if we find an opening but it could prove more difficult. We will have to see once we get outside.

Nalan, Nathan and Ajava

"Actually, " the would be king reacted to Nathan, "I won this ship at a gambling table. Very unhappy fellow who lost it."

He paused "Look, it is not the case that my family went away to live nine centuries in luxury. There were some... troubled periods - times of chaos and all. But just because we were not always able to live the dignified lives that we deserve because of our station does not mean we are any less deserving of it."

He then nodded to Ajava "Records? Of course I have records. I shall have them sent to you at your quarters. Once you have examined them, you may return to take your samples."

Ariana and Trigiel

"They were just some drunks that made their way inside and made a mess of things. No respect for history. We cleaned up some and this" the researcher indicated the glowing metal the lightsaber had cut out "is what was done to prevent it happening again.

As to why there was no genetic database... there was never any need - we do not lay eggs and our young can be distinguished from one another just like adults can, so the maternal line is easily verified. Once born to a royal female, the child is automatically a royal as well.

If it is obvious who is and who is not a royal, there is no need to keep detailed genetic records. But to be honest even if they were kept, the times of chaos destroyed a lot of records and databases as famine led to... disagreements between those who needed food and those who were believed to have it. Plus of course pirate attacks.

I understand the confusion - Scir is very well regulated biologically nowadays, but that was not always the case... Nine centuries is a very long time.

Anyway, I shall attempt to arrange a meeting with the detective, though I doubt he'll be of much use. Nobody died, so we didn't exactly put a hundred officers on it."

The would be king's words confused Nathan.

Concepts such as royalty where completely foreign to him. So the fact that the man claimed he 'deserved' luxury and wealth because of who his ancestors where stuck him as odd.

Regaining his focus he looked the would be king straight in the eyes.

"Sir, have you heard that the grave of your ancestors was recently vandalised?"

While asking the question he carefully observed the man, trying to gauge if the man reacted oddly. ((Check: 11 = 4 Force Level + 4 Intuition + 3 Reason -- ))

((OOC: Mercury, I am missing the results of my inspections.))

"They went inside, made a mess and 'you' cleaned up? Yes, very interesting. Was the vandalism before or after the DNA-investigation?" Trigiel already knew the answer, but he wanted to hear it from the scientist. "And as you are arranging a meeting with the detective, I would like to speak with the people who cleaned it as well."

Then Trigiel realised something else, "Ariana Danacia," he said to the praetorian," I think we need a list of people who will profit from the return of the 'king'," pronouncing king like Trigiel did not believed in him at all, "and take some DNA samples from them as well. You never know, the royalty might turn out to be a lot bigger then anticipated, if you catch my drift."

After the cyborg get satisfying answers, he carefully moved deeper into the tomb, looking out not to disturb any evidence. He motioned the others to be careful as well.

At the tombs he checked for signs of vandalism as well. He did so with every tomb, before opening them.

Ariana followed Trigiel into the tomb and investigated the situation. Taking a DNA sample of every tomb that Trigiel opened.

"That is indeed a wise plan Trigiel. We should follow the money. But let's first check out the tomb and take some samples here. "

Ajava nodded in acknowledgement to the would-be king's statement.

She has not further things to say, so she splits of part of her brain to memorize the room and the people in it, while she uses her other stream of consciousness to analyse the behaviour of the court.

"Yes!" the man seemed to jump at the chance to broach the subject with Nathan and the other Jedi, though his advisers looked dismayed by their kings reaction.

Ajava observed the king seemed to be quite in charge and he thought nothing of the dismay his advisers displayed.

"In fact, it is one of the main reasons I decided it was time for me to return! It is an absolute outrage how they allow my ancestors to be treated! Scum like that should be dealt with most harshly - destroying the royal tomb, have you ever heard of such a thing?!"

Clearly Nathan had hit a nerve.

"When I reclaim the power that is rightfully mine, I shall make it an official government project to restore the royal tomb in all of its glory! Surely the Jedi agree that honouring those who gave their lives for their kingdom should be respected?"

Ariana and Trigiel

((OOC: Clarification: the gate that was cut down by the lightsaber was a new gate placed after the vandals entered to prevent more vandals from entering. The original gate that it replaced is gone, as it was removed to allow the new gate to be placed.

Beyond this, at the end of the hallway are two heavy stone gates. They are slightly ajar, but do not appear to have suffered much in the way of vandalism. Some scratches where they close together are the only indication.))

"The DNA analysis was after the vandalism... what are you thinking?" the researcher inquired.

The tomb itself turned out to be somewhat bigger than Trigiel had originally expected. The main vandalism had been in the front hall and though most of the beer cans and such that had been here had since been cleaned up there were still clear traces where relics and statues had been knocked over and even a tomb had been opened and the lid crushed by dropping it from the tomb.

The hallway beyond the great stone doors featured rows of smaller rooms to each side, at least half a dozen on each side and in the floors above it more of those, with balconies and staircases leading up there.

It seemed every royal family member over the course of several generations had received a spot here including sons, daughters, nephews and cousins alike, making for quite a large company and as a result quite a big family tomb. Of course every individual had to have their own room, so that didn't help conserve space.

The vandalism was not as bad here as it had been at the start, but even deeper in the tomb there was some stuff knocked over.

Sensing around, the two Jedi could feel ancient energies coursing through the tomb - disturbed energies, though this wasn't the kind of disturbance in the force that indicated danger or the presence of others. It just felt... off.

Regardless, the two Jedi had a multitude of choices of tombs to open and gather samples from so they quickly got to work.

As it turned out, from the first tomb they opened at least, the remains of the former royals were remarkably badly preserved - some of the tombs were empty save for dust, not because they had been vandalised but simply because after a thousand years, nothing was left. As it turned out, bones did not always survive that long.

Still, they found other tombs had much better preserved remains, possibly due to different types of embalming, though it was always bones... one tomb even contained a replacement limb of a royal princess who had lost a leg for some unknown reason.

"Princess Yaraeln" the researcher explained, reading from the inscription, but seeming to know the name from his research. "She lost her leg if you would believe it to her charnoq pet when it was 'hungry'. Unnerving woman who kept the pet that ate her leg at her side at all times. It's probably buried here somewhere. The charnoq. Not the severed leg."

After collecting and tagging the samples from the tomb Ariana was ready to leave the place. She turned towards the scientist and said: "When will we be able to speak with the detective? Please contact us if you have more information. We will now visit the heir and collect our own samples there. "

Ariana left the tomb and went to the heir to collect some samples.

Trigiel made sure that they both collected samples from all the tombs. He didn't let one tomb undisturbed and checked them all. He also took the liberty to read all the plates, if he was unable to read them he asked the scientist to read them for him. The cyborg had some theories about this 'vandalism' especially now he had the strange feeling something was strange. While he was collecting the samples he compared the bodies with the stories. After they were finished Trigiel walked outside as well.

"And please don't forget the people who cleaned the mess and repaired to door, we would like to talk to them as well." He said to the scientist, then he turned to Ariana: "I think I stay here, maybe I can find some more traces of the vandalism or the cleaning team."

"Circumstances weren't favourable" the would be king waved dismissively to Nathan's question regarding the reason for not returning earlier. "We did have this whole Times of Chaos thing going on."

"As for my reasons for return, well, as much as it embarrasses me to say this... we ran out of money." he paused a moment "Being a king is expensive. Even without a kingdom. Especially without a kingdom. You have to keep a certain level of luxury and decorum. It's expected, lest the commoners start to misinterpret."

Ariana and Trigiel

"We shall have the detectives and the cleaning crew ready when you return." the scientist explained - he had given them long and detailed stories of each of the members of the royal family as they passed the tomb. Apparently the guy was an expert on this topic. Everything he was telling seemed to match the bodies... what was left of them anyway. After so many centuries, sometimes there simply wasn't enough left for conformation.

With that, the two of them hopped into a speeder back to meet with the king to get a sample from him as well.

Ariana followed Trigiel onto the ship with her medical kit ready for use.

When Ariana and Trigiel are close to the king she would say: "Sir, we are here for the DNA samples. I would like to take a mouth swab and a small blood sample, are you ready?"

If he would not object Ariana would open her kit and take out a cotton bud and carefully swab the inside of the would-be-kings mouth. After using it she would carefully put it away in a ceiled labeled container.
"Next is the blood sample. You will feel a small pinch." Ariana filled a small tube with blood from the largest vein in the would-be-kings left arm. After taking the blood she would label it and carefully put it in her bag.
"This will be all for now. Thank you for your participation."
((Check: 10 = 4 Force Level + 5 Reason + 1 Medicine -- Carefully taking the samples.))

Ariana went outside to talk, with the other group of their Jedi party, about their progress.
"We have looked at the tombs and took a DNA sample from every tomb. The scientist will bring us into contact with the Detective that searched the tombs when they were vandalized. I plan to return to the lab now to analyze all the samples that I am carrying." Ariana turned to Shebi. "How do we proceed? Will you and Trigiel speak with the detective?"
