"Guys look what I fmn..."

The moment Nalan started to speak Nathan quickly silences her by putting his hand over her mouth.

He gestures her again to remain quiet, his movements betray a hint of irritation.

On a whim he looks at the ceiling, cycling through his vision modes. ((Check: 8 = 4 Force Level + 4 Vision -- infra-red, ultra-violet, night vision))

He also zooms in on some of the larger fissures. ((Check: 8 = 4 Force Level + 4 Vision -- optical zoom))

Before Nalan could finish her sentence Nathan had put a hand in front of her. Nalans voice is muffed and does not come far. It is very quiet around here and the thick air presses.

Nalan walks around and looks into the holes, she finds more bones of various creatures like birds, reptiles, mammals and insects. Nathans looks into the larger fissure and finds droppings. Some fissures seem to continue further down and small creatures could go below to another cave.

When Nathan takes another close look to the ceiling he can see that various white threads are connected to one bigger one who seems to support them. While looking around he notices that the body temperature of the various creatures inside the white bundles is different. There are some warm and cold blooded but there is no relation between their size and body temperature.

Suddenly one of the bundles twitches and the threads shake. The padawans can feel a ripple of the force moving through the cave. The air seems to clear but then it gets even thicker than before. Far away in the caves they can hear some rocks falling.

Quietly Nathan moves closer to the bundle that twitched.

He gently pokes the bundle and waits to see if there's a reaction.

When Nathan pokes the bundle it start to move again and all the threads starts to shake violently. One other bundle also starts moving. Suddenly the padawans feel danger coming, the strange presence seems to come towards them from the western hole.

Suddenly a large creature emerges from it. It is a big giant black spider. It moves towards the center with its six legs and two arms with big claws. With its many red eyes it looks around to see what is shaking its web. They look to the bundles and also to the padawans. The big giants spiders climbs into his web as to protect it and stares at them angrily.

((OOC: It is combat time this is round 0, so please pick your combat style. I will go with Mecury latest combat rules, see light saber championship. This will be of Round 2 if he does not post the next Round on time.))

[Shaedys]

Shaedys zoned out for a moment thinking introspectively when he suddenly saw the giant spider moving about and quickly activated his lightsabers.

"We should take care of this pest and then examine what it has in this web, I'm sure we'll find our target here dead or alive." He said to the other two padawans calmly.

Shaedys assumed proper combat positioning, taking the Ataru stance and examining the giant web structurally, trying to find a few weak points where he could cut to bring it down or damage it severely.

Nalan sees how the giant spider shows its face to the party and is unsure on what to expect from it.
for now it is best to focus on defence. She grabs her two lightsabers and activates them , positioning herself into Shii-cho style.

Nathan saw the giant spider look at them.

Activating his lightsaber he got ready.

"Stay sharp people we don't know what this thing can do."

There are four pillar in the center which form a square. The big web is hung between the two northern pillars, the southwestern also has some threads, this is where the padawans are standing, but the southeastern one is quite clean. There is just some an uneven rocky floor between them and the big spider. It takes position in the center of it’s web and it’s claws are closing and opening, it is getting ready to fight.

Spider style

You just needed to pick a style (no stats). Now you can begin with the combat.
Here a reminder of the rules I will use according to round 2 in the championship and the new post format.

Nathan shot forward.

Turning right he headed for the north-eastern pillar.

When he reached the pillar he sliced through some of the lower threads.

Running around the pillar, he grabbed one of his knives and threw it at the spiders rear body.

Shaedys ran forward, spotting Nathan heading to the north-eastern pillar he said to the other Padawans "I'll take the north-western one" as he was running, heading to the north-west pillar.

Once at the north-west pillar Shaedys would take his regular size lightsaber and cut the north-west pillar at an angle, trying to make a cut through it that would make it crash down in the opposite direction of the padawans. He then made a few stabbing motions towards the spider to try and test its speed before backing off a bit again.

As Nalan sees Nathan and Shaedys run off to the northern pillars she thought it would be a good idea to flank the creature.

"I'll draw its attention!" She shouted and move to the front of the creature so the two other padawans are at its backside.
She readies herself and swings her two blue/yellow coloured sabers around to get the creatures attention. For the time Nalan focuses on staying out of harms way by focusing on dodging the attacks of the spider and trying to make small cuts at the legs.

The spider is not glad with Nathan having touched and disrupted its web. One of its pointy claws just touches him as they come hammering down on him. When he cuts the threads the beast becomes furious, his eyes are now glowing as red as can be. It charges after Nathan and climbs up the pillar so it can assault him from above.

As Nathan has disable some of the eastern part of the web Sheadys goes to the other side. The pillars are quite thick are they support this cave and if you destroy one the whole place would collapse. With some well place cuts and strength one part of the pillars comes loose and the web is tangles up together. Some parts of the web fall down and are now sticking together. The big spider get’s off-balance and has to change its footing.

Nalan tries to distract the spiders but her small cuts do not seem to have any effect and she is ignored. By jumping on a pointy rock she manages to get into a good position so the other coulds flank the spider.

Results
Checked all stats and they are ok. Nalan please not your weapon.
Nathan and Sheadys (please put up your goal for the action in check otherwise I have to guess what you want to accomplish) both take the action of destroying the web. Their combined effort (combined check succeed)) is approved and the web is disabled and the spider gets a -1 off balance penalty next round because it looses it's footing.
Nalan your reposition should be noted as an advantage action. It is approved and the other can now flank the spider more easily.
Combat: None of the Jedi get over the defense of the spider. The spider beats Nathan on one score but nothing happens.
The deadline for your post is next week Wednesday evening 20:00 the 23th.

Round 2 start

Nathan used his sabre to keep the spider of him, hoping the spider wouldn't risk losing a limb to get a good hit.

"Better leave that to me, Nalan!" He shouted, as the spider was clearly focussing on him.

"A little help please!?"

He used fast precise moves in an attempt to protect himself from the spider.

Shaedys notes Nathan's distraction but keeps his mouth shut as to garner minimal attention from the spider.

He then makes a run up one of the pillars by using force speed and then jumps off fast, trying to get behind the spider, up close, and flank it.

From there he proceeds to use both of his lightsabers to unleash a series of blows on the spider, hoping it would still focus Nathan.

((OOC: A I read over the time limit. just thought that tonight was last night and that tomorrow you would continue.))

Nalan sees Nathan having some problems being the focus of the giant spider. Still Nalan hope there is a way to get her attention so she has to divide her attention to her front and back. Seeing the spider climb up the pilar after Nathan might give her a nice chance. She runs after to spider toward to pillar she is climbin and during her run shouts up towards Nathan. "Prepare to jump!"

with all her speed and strength she strikes at the base of the pillar to make it fall down. Bringing down the pillar might give them a nice edge when the spider falls on the ground.

i am not all the awsome with claiming advantages. but i think i can claim a +1 attack next round for the terrain action of letting the spider fall with the pillar :)))

The spider is dragged down by the falling web and now tries to regain it’s footing by climbing up the pillar. Claws continue to come down on Nathan from various angle, but as the spider is still off-balance they are not so precise anymore. With the help of his athletics body and the force Nathan can just avoid the attacks.

Sheadys makes a sharp observation and quietly moves himself in a good position. As the spider is focused on Nathan and does not pay attention to Nalan or him he can move around freely. He has a good opportunity to flank and surprised it. He gathers the force around him, he jumps up and around it. He then suddenly unleashes a fierce full series of attacks on the beast. As the blows come down on the spider and the light saber pierces through the thick skin there is a burning smell is coming from the incinerated flesh. The giant spider cries fearfully and falls down on the rocky ground.

Nalan climbs up the pillar and then jumps down and tries to cut the pillar. The pillar is thick and made of solid rock. It will take time to go through it. Nalan misses some strength so she gets struck a quarter up. While she tries to push her light saber forward there is a loud BOOM as the spider crashes just next to her.

Result

The spider is off-balance and Nathans has a high result so your defensive action is approved. You manage to stand your ground against the spider.
Shaedys makes good use of the situation (Hurray!) With the flanking bonus from Nalan and your stealthy approach your action is approved. Making an awesome move on the right time he manages to beat all the defense of the spider. It falls down unconsciousness.
Nalan. With a light saber you do NOT cut everything like paper. Thick solid objects will be hard to cut (like I already said to Sheadys last turn). Your check is also not so high, so you action is disapproved. You get stuck after a few centimeters. But the spider does come down thnx to Sheadys.

The spider lies still on the floor while the web is still shaking from all the movement. The pressing feeling is disappearing and the air seems to clear. Most on the bundles are now lying on the floor and more seem to moving.

Nathan looked at Shaedys.

"Thanks."

Picking up the knife he threw during the fight, he handed it to Shaedys. He gave another knife to Nalan.

"Lets cut open these bundles and see if the adventurer is inside one of them."

He grabbed his third knife, walked to the bundle he poked earlier and carefully started to cut it open.

[Shaedys]

Shaedys took the knife he got from Nathan firmly in his hand and looked around for the closest bundle.

"I hope he's still alive. We should also make sure that the spider is really dead, or get it sent off to a zoo." Shaedys added, glancing to the spider.

He would cut open the nearest bundle carefully and once finished with that focus on the next one, and so on.

Without turning around Nathan replied to Shaedys.

"Negative, leave it. If it wakes back up we knock it out again. Besides it probably was just trying to protect its food."

[Nalan Passik]

"Even so, I'm not to fond of spiders, it can stay down for all I care" Nalan ponders if she should hit it more to be sure. But decided to leave that for now.

She glances around for the nearest pod and helps her team to open up the pods.

[Storyteller (Stuiter)]

Nathan moves towards the closest bundle (the one that had moved before) it is about the size of a football. The thick threads of web are very sticky and after a few cuts the knife gets stuck. The hole he has made is just big enough to look through and he can see a monkey. With his infrared vision he can see that it is still alive.

Sheadys move towards a big bundle of a few meters and the bundle has thicker threads as to hold the wait. The knife also gets stuck but with his strength he is able to make a small hole. He peeks through and sees a pair of hairy legs.

Nalan has also a big one but she does not come far. She has just made a small slit and it is not big enough to see something, so it could be almost anything.

[Shaedys]

Shaedys sees the pair of hairy legs and decides that this is not the bundle that he is looking for. He then moves on to the next bundle and cuts that one open, and so on he would go until he found what they were looking for, namely the missing person, or he had finished opening all the bundles.

When Nathan saw a monkey he stopped for a moment.

He pulled the knife free and tucked it back into it's sheath on his boot. ((Check: 11 = 4 Force Level + 5 Strength + 2 Athletics -- pulling the knife loose from the web))

Grabbing his lightsaber he cut the monkey free with a few precise cuts.

He then proceeded to look for a human sized bundle and cut the nearest one open with his lightsaber.
