[ Mirda ] Investigate the Riki-Mirkaru accident
As Trigiel was a cyborg, the rain did very little to him. He was more concerned about the static charges in the sky. "Lets go inside, there were no defences on the roof right? The soldier didn't mention any. Also, I want to take a look at the door, they don't get blown up randomly."
Once he was close to the entrance, Trigiel changed his mind, he asked to Nesbenogo: "Maybe you can make something out of this, explosions were your speciality right?"
Heself just took a look inside while Nebesnogo inspected the exploded door.

"Da, I will have look." Nebesnogo responds as he moves over to one of the blast marks.
When he lands inside he first shakes most of the water of his wings and from his hair before he begins examining the blast mark.
He then seemed to do some odd tapping on the wall en estimating sizes with the use of his fingers. Before eventually pulling his lightsaber and making a small divot in the wall with it to see how strong the material was. ((Check: 12 = 4 Force Level + 5 Reason + 3 Mechanical Engineer -- Officially mechanical engineering also does strength of materials))
With that information he began making calculations his hands acting as if he was writing on a piece of paper. ((Check: 11 = 4 Force Level + 5 Reason + 2 Explosives -- ))

With the rain pouring down on the three padawan, they quickly moved toward the door. The professor followed suit, making sure he stayed out of the way of the padawan investigating the door.
T'Sal, not really being an expert on explosives, could only determine that this door was blasted open from the outside. Nebesnogo, however, could determine much more. He studied the blast marks, had a look at the door mechanism, tried the wall for solidity, and finally calculated the probable placements and yields of the used explosives: the door was blasted open from the outside, with eight small charges expertly placed on the weak points along the door's edges. Whomever did this was intent on getting in, and knew the facility very well, or had a chart of some kind to help place the charges.
Meanwhile, as Nebesnogo was busy with his study of the door, Trigiel and T'Sal looked around inside. From the blaster marks T'Sal could, by applying her analytical prowess, easily deduce the direction of the fire: shots were fired from the outside in. Trigiel spotted a body slumped against a wall just inside the door, they would've missed it, if not for his night sight.
The body appeared to be a veolian soldier, a sniper rifle on his back. The man was clearly dead, as the left part of his chest was violently torn open, his blood pooling on the ground around him. His body was positioned as if he smacked against the wall, and slid down. Whatever attacked him was strong enough to rip straight through a veolian combat armour. Upon close inspection, Trigiel found a trail of blood, and found that the soldier's right hand gripped a blue blanket with little figures of kittens printed on it. Most of the blanket was drenched in the soldier's own blood.
The claw marking on the wall was large enough to draw attention, especially as it dug deep into the wall. Nebesnogo's analysis of the wall's material was enough to tell the padawan that the creature was tremendously powerful.
As the light inside the hallway brightened, the jedi could see that the hallway led deeper into the cliff. They would need to determine their next target, and make their way through the facility.

"Beasts and professional door-destroyers, this is where the fun begins.
I think the best we can do is go to the security checkpoint, and then to the central station. T'sal, you have the map, please tell us the way. I will walk at the front to spot any dangers."
After seeing the giant scratch on the wall, Trigiel had to think about the giant beasts which hunted teprogrena before they went extinct. Like every teprogrena, he had seen in musea and eductaions in the form of reconstructions and skeletons. He wasn't certain if he wanted to walk in front, but somebody had to do it.
"Professor, anything we can do to not provoke those red velvet ant wasps?"

When T’sal is inside she dries herself a bit and opens her bag. She takes her datapad and makes some pictures and notes of the door. She wants to make a good report of their investigation, so she writes down all their observation. T’sal follows Trigiel and also takes a look at the soldier and the kitten blanket.
“Professor Dewa could you enlighten us on which creature could have attacked the soldier over here? And does it have a kitten blanket?”
T’sal waits for the explanation and notes it down. They need to know what was going on here so all the details are welcome. After he is finished T’sal takes a look at the map, she plans their route as they need to continue.
((Check: 13 = 5 Force Level + 5 Reason + 3 Scientist -- Looking for interesting areas on map and planning route))
“As professor Dewa wants to collect their data and we want to investigate what is going on here I suggest taking a detour towards the server room so we can check out this area and then move there.”

"It seems that the explosives were very well placed. Whoever placed these charges knew how this door worked and how it was made." Nebesnogo said to the group.
"I don't think this door blasting was something that was done hastily. So who ever did this might have left boobytraps and other things. I suggest we move with caution."

After hearing what T'sal had to say, Trigiel wasn't sure whether his audio sensor was broken, or T'sal had not paid any attention at all. "It was a giant sized red ant wasp, approximately the size of a rancor, with sharp claws and a bad temper."
Then, when T'sal was planning a route: "Detour? I prefer a direct, but safe route. The security checkpoint was next to the server room, so while you download the data with the professor, Nebesnogo Sveta and I can check the security."

"Well", the professor started, "she does have a point. I am not entirely sure, seeing how I was mostly involved with the rice project, but I think red velvet ant wasps do not have claws like that, though I might be mistaken." The professor looked at T'Sal with a puzzled look. "I'm very sure that none of our experiments involve a kitten blanket. I have no clue why the soldier had it."
While T'Sal studied the map, Nebesnogo spotted an interesting tidbit of equipment. The soldier, it seemed, had a few small explosive charges tucked in his pack. It wasn't surprising that Trigiel missed them, as they were small and did not really look like normal explosives. Nebesnogo, being the son of a demolitions expert, knew better. These were breach charges, and very expensive ones at that. The pack missed 4 of the six charges, and with an expert eye, Nebesnogo determined that they were approximately the yield of the charges used to breach the door.
T'Sal studied the map to some extent, her experience as a scientist helping her determine what would be the interesting rooms (from a research point of view). She determined that the facility was set up with a cluster layout, no doubt to help with containment in the event of accidents. Each cluster contained a few security stations, a dozen labs, storage units, and utility rooms. The core cluster served as a connecting point for the other three clusters, and offered infrastructure and services like power and air to the other clusters.
The main server room was in the core cluster, next to the central security station. The core cluster also connected directly to main cargo entrance, and the landing pads. From the landing pads, where the padawan were right now, it was a brisk walk of ten minutes to the security centre in the core cluster. T'Sal found a mostly direct route, leading through a single auxiliary laboratory to satisfy her curiosity. This small detour would only take a minute.
((OOC: The scientist skill is not applicable to things like finding paths on a map. I have however, assigned a +2 circumstance bonus to the check because of T'Sal's extensive knowledge of laboratory layouts and requirements for different types of equipment, netting her the expert score of 12.))

T'sal looks to Trigiel with a look like 'you are always going head first, rigth?'.
"Don't you think the enemy will be at the central control station?
I rather have first a look around to get a better idea what is going on before engaging them. We can check this lab, it will only take a few minutes."

"Well, we are here to find out what happened, and to let the doc extract the data. The enemy knows best what happened... But well, given the time they had by now, a few minutes won't hurt. Lets go to that smaller laboratory and then to the security centre." While he was saying that, Trigiel suddenly realised: "What do you hope to find? I don't think we will learn anything from the enemy there as it is a lab, not a security centre."
When Nebesnogo looked over the man and saw the charges the paranoia his mother taught him about loose explosives kicked in. He hopped back and was about to yell a warning when he noticed that the explosives were not armed.
"Ehh Triegiel, T'sal could any of you make a watermarkerd recording. I think I found one of the persons responsible for the breaching. He still has some of the breaching charges on him." He said after he calmed down from his bomb scare.

"Sorry, I have no recording device, maybe S4 has one."

"I think S4 could do that. So that soldier still has some explosive charges you want to salvage, okay."
T'sal looks to S4 and he moves to the soldier. He uses his analyses equipment and shows the results in the air with a holodisplay.
((OOC: Do not know what you mean by watermarked but I think X-ray and some more analyses will do.))

((OOC: Do not know what you mean by watermarked but I think X-ray and some more analyses will do.))
S4 busies itself with the analysis of the soldier's equipment. He started out by setting up some kind of screen on one side of the soldier, moving to the other side, and making excited noises. Then he picks up the screen and folds it back into the storage compartment he pulled it from, after which T'Sal could see its lights indicate the progress of the analysis.
After a few minutes, S4 happily chirped its completion, and projected a neatly ordered holographic display of all equipment on the soldier: identification tag ("Lieutenant Hirik Asimor"), augmented combat armour, personal blaster, standard issue sniper rifle, two ammo cells (one empty), key card for a speeder, breach charges (4 of 6 used), 1 smoke grenade, 1 blanket with kitten print. Identified, but not classified as equipment: foreign biological substance, probably a splinter of the claw that hit the soldier. The splinter was roughly two centimetre, and S4 recognized that the splinter is formed with biological compounds normally associated with insects.
S4 indicates that it was not able to properly identify all equipment, but the equipment it recognized was house Iaat standard issue military gear. This soldier was probably part of one of the two patrols sent here earlier. S4 stored a recording of this analysis as evidence for later use. Watermarked with the official Jedi Order evidence signature, to ensure that it was untampered with after the recording of the analysis.
((OOC: Educational note: I think watermarking, in this case, was meant as Digital Watermarking.))

T'sal checks if S4 also includes the door in his report and samples are secured properly. After this it is time to move on.
"Now that we have official evidence, let's continue."
"Now that we have official evidence, let's continue."
"Yes, let's go, but it is still unclear what you hope to find at the laboratory." He said
"Yes lets keep going and keep an eye out for more strange things. Like the thing that made the scratch in that wall."
The trio of Jedi, promptly followed by the professor, made their way to the auxiliary laboratory on the route. During their walk, they encountered little of note.
The laboratory itself wasn't big, but the lighting had given out in the back of the lab. Carefully entering the lab, the three padawan immediately smelled the stench of corpses. All but Trigiel had to suppress their instinctive reaction to turn away from the room.
On first glance, the lab's furniture was tossed around, and most of the equipment was broken. Three claw marks, just is in the hallway, could be seen on the wall. A careful search of the room turned up two things of note. The first was a pair of dead scientists, both veolian men wore white laboratory coats, and one of them had a data pad with him. On of the scientists missed a leg, and the other one had his skull bashed against the floor; it was not a pretty sight.
The second notable find was a neonatal intensive care unit. A neonatal intensive care unit is an intensive care unit specializing in the care of ill or premature newborn infants. Compared to the rest of the room, the unit was relatively undamaged, though one of its little wheels was broken. The unit contained a blue pillow with kitten print on it, the same print as on the blanket -- the pillow and blanket clearly belonged together.
Unfortunately, the security camera in this room had been torn of the wall and was nowhere to be found; to find out what transpired here, the Jedi would have to go to the central security station.

upon entering the laboraty, his smell receptors gave Trigiel a short burst of the stench of corpses, the cyborg quickly reduced the sensitivity of his smell receptors. Not that he could not stand the smell, he was used to some things, but it was just quite distracting.
"Well, at least we know now where the kitten blanked came from... strange architects to use kitten blankets, must be something Veolian I guess."
Then he spotted the scientists and the datapad, he walked to it grabbed the pad and gave it to T'sal, not paying attention to any bloodstains on the datapad. "T'sal I think this is your area of expertise." He looked again at the scientists, somehow he had troubles keeping his eye of their awful sight. "I am sorry for your men doc, are you sure the red ant wasps don't have claws? We might then have another peace of potential trouble at our hands."

Upon entering T’sal takes a good look around. This is not a pretty side, but it at least answers a few question. They probably would not find any scientists alive and had to go to the control room to find out more. Luckily, the camera is broken, so they could look around all they want. While Trigiel goes to the scientists, T’sal moves to the intensive care unit. She puts some lab gloves on and carefully picks it up to see if anything has been used.

“S4, go ahead with a full analyses of the scene. It seems like we got an infant clawed beast on the loose. My condolences professor Dewa, but it seems like they did not care for people or equipment. I would not get my hopes up of retrieving data from the server.”
Trigiel hands T’sal the datapad of the dead scientist and starts to investigate it. She also takes a good look around in the lab, to she what the scientist were doing before they were interrupted.

When the smell of the corpses reached nebesnogo's nose he made a grimace at the smell.
"I will have a look at this thing and see if it can tell us something more." He then moved over to the intensive care unit and tried to figure out how it was configured and what it could do.

((OOC: It seems I have not been clear enough on what skills and attributes apply to what.
On attribute we can be quick:
- Searching for hidden things is Vision, recognition of patterns or systematically looking the room over is Intuition.
- Reason is the Control + Mind ability, and is not used to search things.
Skills require a little more explanation:
- Scientist applies to physics. Not generic 'science'. You can not claim to use the scientific method for the analysis of a crime scene, or a trashed room. Don't just call out '+ Scientist' on every check, it doesn't work.
- Furthermore, an NICU (neonatal intensive care unit) is specialized medical equipment that can only be studied with Medicine.
- Datapad's are either Programming or Slicing, depending on the level of security on the pad (passwords or encrypted files require Slicing, otherwise it's Programming).
Based on these insights, I advice everyone to check their previous post, and update them if you think that you want to change your action. If you want to discuss this further, please open up an OOC thread for the discussion.))

While T'Sal looked over the room, Nebesnogo Sveta studied the neonatal intensive care unit, and determined that it was a device capable of maintaining a stable environment within the pod.
T'Sal ordered S4 to analyse the mess, and looked through the large laboratory herself. She could not determine what kind of research they could do here. It appeared to be a simple laboratory equipped to care for plants, but there was some equipment here for genetic sequencing as well. The fact that it was just an auxiliary laboratory did not help her; maybe they just stored equipment here, and moved it to other labs when needed.
T'Sal was more successful at her analysis of the datapad, and she turned up a few files containing profile information on whatever was contained within the neonatal intensive care unit. The basic profile was available unencrypted, and T'Sal handily cracked the weak encryption on the rest of the profile. Some of the data seemed to have been removed before T'Sal got her hands on the datapad. ((OOC: Only T'Sal has read the information on the pad right now, none of the others know this unless she decides to share this information.)).
T'Sal also determined that the datapad recently contacted one of the servers of the facility to upload the journal. She determined that the pad attempted to contact server 2001:610:1908:8000:5ce0:410f:f5f3:4846. With some work, she should be able to find this server if she has access to the server room.
While Nebesnogo and T'Sal busied themself with looking over the lab, and analysing the datapad, Trigiel spoke with the professor, Dewa Karinth.
"Yes, padawan. I am reasonably sure that red velvet ant wasps do not have claws. They do have mandibles, but their bulk would prevent them from scratching the wall like this, in room of this size. They would need at least a ceiling that is twice as high to effectively put any force behind their attack. Whatever did this must have been smaller, possibly roughly as large as you are."
Just as T'Sal finished her decryption, S4 announced that the analysis was complete. He determined that both scientists were killed by excessive force, and the wounds are compatible with the claw marks on the wall. The material of the kitten pillow in the intensive care unit is the same as the material of the blanket he analysed earlier.

==== Subject 2-7-beta, Weekly journal ====
w1 observation: the subject matures slower than expected, having gained only 140 grams.
w2 observation: the subject displays a remarkable resilience to environmental factors.
w3 observation: the subjects physical strength has increased faster than predicted, we advice transfer from gestation pod to a NICU.
w4 observation: the subject displayed ephemeral flares, current NICU destroyed by discharge.
w4 additional: we advice caution. subject displays restless behaviour when near originating laboratory. We advice transfer of Subject 2-7-beta
w5 observation: the subject displayed recognizable signs of hemetism. Subject scheduled for immediate termination.
w5 additional: termination authorized, execution scheduled for turn 65.
[hazardous bio-genetical material: the subject is a category 4 hazardous entity. Containment with lethal force is authorized!]
Lineage: Subject 2 (out of Subject 1 + Donor 4) + Donor 7 (out of <deleted>), second egg
Project: <deleted>
Project Cycle: 3
Project Authorization: iaat-alpha-six, trusted personnel only

((OOC: I opened an OOC thread for the 'Scientist does everything' discussion.))

T'Sal - PC
“On the datapad are some files about subject 2-7 beta which is category 4 hazardous. It seems like the subject became quite powerful and should be executed.” says T’sal while looking stern to professor Dewa. T’sal checks the data of the datapad and the scheduled execution as to confirm that the subject probably has escaped.
“I do not what legally and morally is allowed within the Veolian Commenwealth. But there are rumors that chimera’s were investigate here. Pofessor Dewa I hope you can explain this. You are the lead scientist and you should know what is exactly going on here. Instead of talking about wasps you could have told us about subject 2-7 living here! I can understand that you do not want to tell us everything, but if you want us to help you in solving this mystery we will need some information to go on.”
All this time T’sal is puzzled about what hemetism would mean. But while looking at professor Dewa it hits her. The same height as Trigiel, her own implications of chimeras and a hemet Veolian. Where they doing research on hemet chimeras? Now the next question arrives on who is behind the sabotaging of this facility. There are still possibilities that this could be an political or ethnical assault. T’sal wants at least to hear from professor Dewa an explanation that they were not doing illegal research or they would be helping in a crime.

After T'sal said something about species 2-7 beta, and looked up something, Trigiel had the idea that there were some things on the datapad T'al forget to tell to them. "Let me see that," Trigiel said, and without waiting for a response he snatched the datapad out of T'sal her hands.
Every while he showed signs of more and more disbelieve while reading the data.
When he was finished, he started to read again but this time he was mumbling some rows:
"Lineage: 1 subject, 1 donor, out of... deleted?
project deleted?
trusted personnel only
slow growth, rapid growth
transfer to the neonatal intensive care unit, discharge?
Transfer again, hemetism, hemetism? Termination..."
His aperture closed a moment, then opened again, his head light was turned red, clearly he was very unsatisfied. He turned to the Veolian scientist as well. His first impulse was to throw the datapad away and hit the scientist, instead he just gave the pad to Nebesnogo so he could read it as well.
"T'sal raises some valid points, but she misses some points which I find quite relevant as well.
Deleted projects?
authorized personnel only?
discharges?
Let' see, what do we no by now:
there are studies of mixed-heritage creatures according to the news,
something went wrong,
we see markings of claws which are not from the red ant wasps,
The rice is harmless if you are to be trusted, and you are quite loosing that trust,
Subject 2-7 beta is not a wasp,
It is resilient against environments, poor creature,
Apparently there are donors and subjects,
The creature is moved to this laboratory, were the safety systems sucks,
The creature shows signs of baus-powers,
And it seems you quite fail in terminating your study objects.
You cannot expect to just throw us in the dark saying: 'fix it.' From the data I derive you were studying the hemet-occurance in this laboratory, it is far and safely away, so you it appears knew the dangers. Why do your people think we can 'fix it,' but thinks we are not authorised enough to know what is going on here?
Tell us all about the project, and the deleted data, why were men send in to delete the data?
What were your safety measures against subject 2-7 beta, and its brothers and sisters, it has to be more suficient than some guards and guns at the exits, and why did it fail? And don't come with the bullcrap about the lightning they tell on the holonet, this facility is deep inside a mountain with regular storms, around it. It is build to withstand a simple lightning strike, or two... or hundred-thousand.
In fact, tell us everything, we are not your 'team cleaning' when you fail to contain an experiment!"
((OOC: I checked with Stuiter before grabbing the pad out of T'sal her hands))
