While I was contemplating Nathan's next move in the saber championships, an idea suddenly popped into my head.
A new combat style that combines the two most defining parts of the Jedi. A style that uses the Force to guide the Jedi's movements. This would result in high attack and defence values, to balance this out a bit I suggest some high requirements and possibly no special manoeuvres. Another possibility would be to give smaller values and give an increase depending on Jedi Rank. For example: padawan values: attack=1/2/2 defence=1/1/2, knight values: attack=2/2/3 defence=2/3/2, master values: attack=3/3/3 defence=4/4/4 (just an example to explain the concept don't hold any meaning to these values.)
On the question 'is it possible to use the Force like this?' my answer would be yes. Because of canon statements like "The Force is everywhere and flows trough your body" (I know not an actual quote but you get the point) and in A New Hope, Luke trains with a sphere that shoots at him, when he's blinded by the visor he is told to use the Force and trust his feelings and he lets those guide his lightsaber.

Wouldn't this basically invalidate the combat system? I mean, if there is one style that just has high values all over that would be the one style to use...
I would rather say that all styles are in part guided by the Force, which is why jedi kick so much ass right now. As I see it, things like different combat styles and special manoeuvres are already largely guided by the force. Even if you don't use a combat style, you are guided by the Force, as you get your Force Level on every ring (and all other checks as well, so you're guided by the force in whatever you do).
I'd rather see combat styles that try to adhere to some underlying philosophy, or that try to emulate a facet of the universe in combat. Such 'enlightened' styles seem to be in theme for Jedi as there are a multitude of philosophies on the Force, and such styles could emulate these different approaches. For example, the Locust Style could contain a special manoeuvre that grants an extra bonus of two people cooperate to attack a third while using Locust Style -- this style emphasizes the cooperation and emulates a creature, and is probably associated with the Living Force.

ok I see your point
I'll try to come up with an idea that takes to one Force philosophy, also work it out a bit better with values and special moves.
I just put the idea up as I feel a bit limited by the currently available combat styles. And there is still a form II combat style undefined.
when I get some ideas I'll post them here :)

We took (with a very liberal interpretation) the styles from Wookiepedia's Lightsaber Combat page.
So that might be a good starting point.

hmm this topic got me thinking of making two of the standard forms. I would like to try and make Form II: Makashi (Dooku style) and From V: Shien / Djem So (Anakin style). I will try and make it cool and post here by sunday.
Make two distinct threads for those please, that will help with the discussion on them.
